Plug-in modules greatly enhance the power of existing apps, most
commonly your oft-used web browser. These apps add value by
making even more features available at your fingertips than your
web browser already offers. Netscape is by far the most successful
web browser at getting third parties to create plug-in modules for
their browser, but Microsoft is closing the gap quickly. The current
fare of modules offers unprecedented features in web browsers,
including real-time audio and video (at the same time!), custom
OLE controls for a Javaesque experience, Virtual Reality Modeling
Language (VRML) browsing, and more. Look for plug-ins to be
one of the hottest areas of development during the upcoming
months. If the currently available modules are any sign of the
future, multimedia on the 'net will never be the same again... The
following are brief descriptions of each application featured on the
Plug-in Modules for Windows 3.x and Windows 95 pages.
