PRO -- This is a relatively young program still under intense developed, and it shouldn't come as a surprise that many critical features are currently on the wishlist rather than in the app itself. does do a great job of providing you with a WYSIWYG interface, displaying HTML text in a manner very similar to the way that it will appear on an actual browser. However, this program will crawl on anything less than a Pentium. Recent releases of the program have added WYSIWYG support for forms and tables development, a rarity among the current fare of WYSIWYG editors. Additional notable new features include support for background images and attribute/text/background colors (these images and colors can be created with both versions but can only be viewed with the professional -- registered -- version). Also added are support for most Netscapisms (proprietary tags for Netscape 1.x) -- including center, blink, and font size; a virtual keyboard for extended characters, and the ability to launch an external text editor or browser. The interface itself is not exactly the most intuitive for an HTML editor. The upside is that continues to be subject to intense development and should conform to all HTML 3.0 standards (and Netscape 2.x's) soon. At $79.95, might not be a serious contender for now but very well could be in the future. Currently, though, is too slow and lacking in too many features to contend with many of the HTML editors, with the exception of the even slower WYSIWYG editors like Internet Assistant for Windows 3.x. Pros: WYSIWYG interface, under intense development, many new features Cons: Not the easiest editor to use, sllooowwwwww, some features still missing New: WYSIWYG support for forms and tables development, Netscape 1.x tags, more Version Reviewed: Beta 22 Date of Review: 1/24/96 Reviewer: Forrest Stroud apps conference Main Menu
