MARCIA!
~MarciaH #3
Just asking...

Speaking of antiques. Has anyone seen the real neat tv show, Antique Roadshow? They have folks dig out their treasures and bring them in for appraisal. This show has been a sleeper hit.
~MarciaH #5
Oh yes, one of my fav TV shows. I can remember the lady who found an old helmet in the rafters of her house and it was 15th century Spanish worth $250,000...!

i've seen that show, but i find it boring at times. esp. when someone brings in a piece of junk and hopes it's worth millions. i wonder how greedy some people can be.
~terry #7
Wah! I don't have any old stuff in my attic!
~Isabel #8
Want some of mine?
~MarciaH #9
In Hawaii we have neither attics nor basements and very few garages. My "stuff" is in the spare room under tons of junk. I have no idea what is really in there!

So go investigate! Welcome, Isabel! Are you a pack rat, too? What do you collect?
~Isabel #11
Haha - "packrat" - I know one... No, I'm more a kind of a magpie. I must have everything that looks nice or is glittering or somehow funny or just interesting. So I don't collect special items, but I have a huge collection of "things without any use", you know stuff that doesn't really do anything, like old toys, little vases, porcellain, glassthings, linen, a teamill (!)...God's sake I don't collect little porcelain or ceramic figurines or old elctronic stuff like some of my friends do. Oh, and sometimes I buy records, too. What fleemarket-stuff do you fall for?

i love antiques, but i don't know the first thing, nor am interested enough to do the proper research....i used to prowl through local antique shops but only the furniture interested me and i didn't know if it was worth the prices or not, so i didn't buy anything. (oh, except for a brush and comb set that i got suckered into)... and glad to see you over here, too, isabel...is a magpie the same as a raven? i know ravens like glittery shiny things....sounds like you have an eclectic collection of things that appeal to you that don't belong in any one category. shall i open a topic for that?
~wolf #14
and introducing, just for folks like you, isabel, a topic for all that junk you love: http://www.spring.net/yapp-bin/restricted/read/collecting/45 it's called Mish Mosh
~aschuth #15
Hey, great! Isabel - that sounds interesting... Show us some pics of your useless stuff - send them to Wolf, she knows how to do this (proof: Barbie-topic, where I haven't seen any new stuff lately - WOLF!)
~wolf #16
