This is where to discuss porcelain dolls in general and those doll collections that don't belong anywhere else.

Laura introduced the topic of porcelain dolls. Here's what she has to say: I know that I always wanted to collect Porcelain Dolls when I was younger, but mom couldn't afford them. So now I get to live my dream through my daughter. Who has a couple of absolutely gorgeous porcelain dolls. She also has the Josephina: American Girl Doll and would like the Samantha doll. These dolls are very well made and have a doll hospital. The children also learn about the time period that these girls are from (Josephina is from Mexico (now New Mexico) and 1824). Does anyone else collect dolls like this?

and marcia responded with: My mother had some and my middle sister inherited them. They have doeskin bodies with porcelain heads, hands and feet. Another has a muslin body stuffed with kapok (guessing) with similar porcelain adornments. That sister had the only granddaughter so I guess it was appropriate.
