I took my first seniorcomp class under Bill McClusky out at Ft. Sam. After a horrifying experience in my nearest school district's adult ed. classes, I felt like I had fallen into heaven. It was so wonderful to have someone start with the most basic elements and yet I never felt talked down to. I learned so much and could not wait for my next class which was Beyond the Basics that started last June - after one meeting I had to drop the class and I am so glad now to be back in a class - Linda s 3 wk. word processing. When I was working, everything was Dos and PCs weren't a household item, so it took a while before I got my first PC which had it's first birthday on 2/6/99. I quickly became a master at re-installing the OEM software and for a while thought that I was being mastered by the PC. Pause/Break with the slash in this question representing a straight line between the words. I have only tried to use the Screen Print. Just pressing Screen Print - nothing, tried Ctrl-Screen Print - nothing, tried Shift-Screen Print - nothing. I want to be able to ave something on my screen and print only what I see (which we could do in Dos). So far I have been unsuccessful in my attempts. Any help is appreciated."}, {"response": 4, "author": "ratthing", "date": "Wed, Feb 17, 1999 (09:14)", "body": "hi rose! those keys are somewhat antiquated. they were used fairly heavily in the old DOS days, but don't do too much anymore in this day of GUIs and mouses. however, the Screen Print key does do something pretty cool: it allows you to capture \"screen shots\" or snapshots of your screen. to do this, just hit the Screen Print key (nothing will happen). then, open up the Paint program (most likely under Start -> Programs -> Accessories. in the Paint program, pull down the Edit menu, then select \"Paste.\" Voila! you will have an image of your screen captured in your Paint program. you can then save this as a new file or print it out. this feature is very useful when you are writing instructions on how to do something in Windows, or when you want to show someone some weire error dialog box. have fun!"}, {"response": 5, "author": "Dumper", "date": "Thu, Feb 18, 1999 (05:29)", "body": "Ray, thanks a million. Re-booted after every installation. Everything seemed to work fine except everything slowed down to a snail's pace and I lost all my games (only FreeCell and Solitaire are important to me). Tried to uninstall Nuts and Bolts and crashed. Most of it is gone but the crash occurred before all was removed and the rest won't remove now, but my speed is back. Go the Start button, then go to Find, then go to Files or Folders. Enter FREECELL to search for the FREECELL.EXE program. if it turns up on the search results, move your mouse pointer on top of the icon fro FREECELL.EXE in the search results window. With Joe Gentry's guidance and with a photo program, I have, that came with Sierra Print Artist, I was able to open the pictures in IPhoto Express. I tried Picture It, Imaging, and Paint and none of those programs would cooperate. The icon attached to the pictureslooks like a word icon but without the 'W'. Instead it has a large red 'A' in the lower right corner of the icon (a sheet of paper with the upper right corner turned over). I can not find that icon on anything in my PC. I suspect my neice scanned the pictures into a document program and than saved and sent them from that program but I don't know what. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP. I had a paper jam while doing envelopes. Since then it has been out of alignment especially in The Print Shop Deluxe Version 6. My cards do not come out lined up properly. They are not centered. I have played with the Print Properties in the Program, and I have run through the cleaning and aligning of the printer in the print menu. It has been cleaned etc. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do next? I thought of uninstalling the memory and reinstalling it from the CD, but I do not know what I would gain with that. I would appreciate all the assistance I can get. I have the hp 722C. 1) See if you have a toolbox; if so, go to Printer Services and go through the services one at a time. It might be of value to go over the other tabs in the toolbox dialog window, too. 2)What about your manual? Mine is really complete and answers a lot of questions. The company, Computer Express, is an authorized hp service center and I have found them to be very helpful. 3)hp has a web site just for their pri ters, have you checked the FAQ's on their site? 4)I don't think that 'uninstall and reinstalling' your printer can do any harm and it just might do the trick. Dear Jane, to deal with the more immediate problem, have you tried changing the setting for double-click speeds? Or tried to double-click really fast... Do the right mouseclicks still work? While you're at it, you may want to switch the box off and turn the mouse over, open the belly-clap and clean its tummy. Not that it will have immediate impact on the current problem, but there'll be a lot of stuff sticking against the cylinders noticing mouse-movements. This ought to improve handling your digi-rodent. Also check if the plug is sitting tight in the appropriate socket. I got cocky and set the mouse speed to max and no great grandmother can double click that fast. However i did buy a new mouse in the process. It is a Logitech First Mouse+, and it is the best thing since sliced bread. It has a roller wheel that scrolls pages and it a real pleasure to use. It is for left or right handed people. I am left handed but use a right handed mouse and double click with my middle finger. It fits all my needs.
