QuickTime for Windows

QuickTime for Windows -- Here is an app that has been absent from The CWS Apps List for too long. No other application on the 'net currently allows you to view a QuickTime file (*.MOV) without first having the drivers included in this client. For a sample of some of the many QuickTime movies available check Apple's QuickTime Cool Content repository or one of my favorites, The Niagara Falls Page. There is also a QuickTime FAQ available to help new users get acquainted with the QuickTime world. QuickTime files can combine audio and video content, they offer relatively high quality, and they are readily available on the 'net. For these reasons, downloading QuickTime for Windows is a quick and easy decision for most 'netizens. In addition, Apple has recently released plug-in versions of the player that work with versions 3.0 (Beta 4) and higher of Netscape. The plug-in version allows users to watch inline QuickTime files from within the Internet's most popular application, Netscape. Pros: Supports audio and video content, currently the only driver that plays MOV files Cons: NET TOOB offers more features, MOV files sometimes lack the quality and size of MPEG files New: Plug-ins and 32-bit version released, calibration utility for audio and video synchronization Version Reviewed: Player - 2.1.1.57 Release 2. Plug-in - Beta 10 Date of Review: 6/3/96 Reviewer: Forrest Stroud

As of 8/14 the plug-in version of quicktime does not appear to be available. You get a 'NOT AVAILABLE' error when you try to down load it. Does anyone know why ?

Is anyone else getting an error message at the end of installation, saying the installation was not completed due to an error in updating SYSTEM.INI? John

No, John, I didn't get any error saying that it couldn't update my SYSTEM.INI. But, on the other hand, I can't get any .MOV files to run either so, I just took it off my system. Any tips? Anyone can respond. Eamil me at reynolds@cyberport.net

Looking for QuickTime for Windows. Heretofore, I'm unfamiliar with it, but I have a company which submitted a CD catalog for music to me. The CD indicates that it requires this program to run. I am currently running Windows 95. Please e-mail response to bowestbrooks@alpha.nlu.edu. Thanks

I downloaded Quicktime 4.0 & forgot to uninstall the old version. After running 4.0 the first time, I opened a movie file & got the big blue screen saying VDX error. I had to turn off my computer & restart it ( reset didn't work ) I uninstalled the old quicktime & now it's doing fine. I really like the new version. BUT !! they need to tell us these things, or add the uninstall old version option to the 4.0 install.
