CRT just announced this conference on their website. Thank you! For folks coming here for the first time from the CRT website. You may want to 'signup' so you can post your own comments. I find the new version of CRT with it's multiple windows and new feature set to be the number one terminal program on the Net. I am going to be doing an in depth review of CRT for a new website that will do *very* in depth reviews of software products. We won't do 300 or more like Forrest, but we will review the top twenty or so apps on the Net in great depth and these reviews will be closely tied in to these conference topics.

I agree that CRT is the best terminal app. It is very configurable and I really like the multi window option.

Does anyone know how to enter this sequence in the keymap for E.G F6 ^[[17~^ ? I tried "\03317~" but thats not the Answer.

This is from the help menu... string (or function): If the virtual key is pressed with the corresponding modifiers, then the associated string is sent as if the user had typed it. The string can include characters represented in octal notation. For example, OP, would be represented as: "\033OP" This works just fine as long as you only have "one" escape character, but how do you enter 2 escape caracters in front of a string ?. Eg. if the string i need is 17 and i need 2 escape caracters in front of it, how dow i do it ?.

Try: \033[17~ or \e[17~ In addition, there are some sample keymaps in ftp://ftp.vandyke.com/pub/CRT/keymaps

I'm trying to capture screen shots within CRT. Without using printscreen (I want text, not bitmap) I can't get linedraw characters (using VT100 character set) to copy correctly. Does anyone know how to capture/print linedraw characters in a vt100 session?

Are you using Windows 95? I just turn logging on or increase the buffer size and highlight the text, copy and paste it. Copying text is pretty trivial.

It is not currently possible to copy the VT100 line drawing characters to the clipboard. Also, CRT doesn't currently support printing the VT100 line drawing characters because the current VT100 font is not a printer font. We hope to include a TrueType font with VT line drawing characters in a future release.

I am using the Telnet with 95 to a Unix Box. The standard Print utility within the Unix Application will not pass through the CRT program. Is there a setting within CRT that will allow proper printing of Applications. I am using CRT in the VT-100 emulation. The Actual VT-100's on the System print properly.

That's a pretty hefty amount! Are there any plans afoot to increase the lines in the auto script when you logon to a remote server? Right now, you have a dialog box with about 4 lines. I'm talking about the Preferences/Session/Login Script Details which allows you to automate the first four commands that you key in when you log on to a server. Also, (this is nit picking now) do you plan to add a hotkey so you can type 'd' for details instead of using a mouse click? CRT has become one of the single most userful programs we use at the Spring. I give it five walruses!

I love the fact that CRT has built-in firewall automation tools. Very cool! One feature I would like to see which doesn't appear to be available is an option to indicate whether or not you would like to turn on the log file immediately upon connect. This would be of great benefit as then I wouldn't have to worry about forgetting to turn it on when doing an expensive online database search.

Is there any way that I can login to SCO 5.0 Unix Server at fixed tty (ie ttyp0, or ttyp1) thanks

We use CRT under NT to connect to our VMS cluster. It is by far the best terminal emulator we have tried for connecting to a VMS environment. Comparing CRT to freeware is questionable, for the very modest price I have submitted nearly 30 requests for new features or fixes and have gotten almost all of them fixed QUICKLY. My experiance with freeware is turnaround for bug fixes and feature requests is very slow. I have found CRT *well* worth the money. Now a question. We use CRT in a DEC VMS environment that supports the DECTERM mouse locator escape sequences (for editors like Eve). Does anyone know if there is a way to setup the VMS termtable file so that Eve will work with the CRT xterm mouse locator sequences?

Anyone know how to fire off an rlogin session from within Netscape using CRT as a helper app? would I put somoe type of config or session file on the web page and just configure crt as the helper app for that extension? thanks

That's exactly it. Configure crt as your telnet application in Netscape's settings.

I have tried Netterm and Kermit to login to SCO 5.0.2 Unix Server via TCP/IP from local Win95 workstations. The Wyse 50 emulation is less than ideal -- the Page up and Page down keys won't work at all and the Backspace works poorly. THe display characters are ok. Does CRT have Wyse 50 emulation and a good keyboard map? If not , is there one that does? Seth

It has VT100, VT102, VT220, ansi and ansi color. Excellent program!

CRT Question: I've just started trying CRT. If I have a direct network connection it works just fine. If I dial-in it garbles what I see on the screen. I'm connecting at 38.4 with a Supra. In HyperTerminal I could set character delays and I can't find that in CRT.

I just got an email from Jeff Van Dyke and my license code will be sent to me next week, I'll then have some comments and observations on this new version. Ya' know, it's Saturday morning and I emailed Jeff for a license key and he sent me a personal email reply (*not* an automated letter) within ten minutes. These guys are *responsive*.

Have you tried running CRT? Why Powerterm? What is it about Powerterm that made you choose it? Do they have a tech support website? Are you connected via a serial cable to the SCO Box?

I'm still really hooked on CRT, I'm using it as we speak.

I just got a reviewer's copy of CRT 3.1.1 (32 bit) and I'll be posting some comments about it. For Linux fans, there's console emulation that supports ANSI color and built-in linux keymap and mouse reporting. This improves the behavior of Linuxconf, YaST and other applications.
