LView Pro -- This application is one of the easiest image viewers
and editors available. Useful utilities include screen capture,
transparent background (for your WWW gifs), multiple file
opening, diagnostic information, quick print, slideshow, image
filtering, and many, many image enhancing attributes. Supported
image types include GIF, JPEG, BMP, PCX, TIFF, PBM, TGA,
DIB, and several more. Both interlaced GIF 87a and 89a image
types are supported.
On-line help for LView Pro is extensive, including the JPEG FAQ
document available on the 'net. While not the fastest image viewer
or the most complete image editor, LView remains one of the best
all-around programs for viewing and manipulating images, and at
$30 (32-bit version or commercial use of the 16-bit version) or for
free (16-bit non-commercial use), it's definitely worth the price.
Pros: Many features and image types supported, easy to use, GIF
89a, extensive on-line help
Cons: Slow image viewer (relative to ACDSee), not as many
features as Paint Shop Pro
New: New version available for Windows 95, new options and
commands available in this version
Version Reviewed: Windows 3.x - 1.B. Windows 95 - 1.D

get the most basic program they offer. It is freeware if you are a private
individual, and it works much better than the upgrade which is not free.

I use this and it's great for resizing gifs and putting together "slide
show" like presentations. It also has an easy to use cropping tool.

It is also the best and easiest way to make a thumbnail sheet. and to photograph your desktop and on and on. It is my favorite photo program.

It's a good program. I guess it's major competitors are Thumbs Plus and
Paint Shop Pro.
Anyone have a favorite technique for making transparent gifs?
I have a license for LView Pro 2.0 but I want to start using
Version 2.6. so I'm going to cough up the $20.00 and do the Secure Online
Credit card ordering thing.

Terry, my son did that, and he ended up uninstalling it and downloading the old W3.1 program again which he still uses. Let us know what you think of it - perhaps they have improved it?!

Got the CD but haven't installed it yet. Man I've been busy and full of
wonderment these days. So many choices, so many things to do, and such a
great town to do them in.
