Internet Control Center -- Internet Control Center (ICC) allows
you to run all of your favorite winsock apps (up to 12) from one
central toolbar manager. This client gives you the ability to quickly
launch and switch between 'net apps, while using a minimal amount
of system resources and desktop space. You can even instruct ICC
to connect to your provider and launch apps upon start-up. ICC
will automatically connect you to the internet via Trumpet,
Chameleon, a LAN connection, ISDN, or any of a number of
additional options. Even connecting via NetDial will work
(although I couldn't get an automatic disconnection to work with
NetDial).
Any archie, WWW, mail, newsreader, ftp, gopher, or other 'net app
can be launched via ICC. ICC recently added on-line help
documentation to its already intuitive and extremely easy to use
interface. ICC has several advantages over WSTBar, including the
ability to load up to six apps upon start-up (compared to one in
WSTBar), toggle off/on 'always on top', and a button for switching
quickly from one app to another. However, it does lack the ability
to use icons to represent apps, a resizable toolbar, and it costs
about twice as much. Overall, ICC easily automates the very
routine and often boring task of waiting for a connection to the 'net
and then having to manually launch several apps, with the
advantageous result of having more time to spend actually cruising
the 'net.
Pros: Efficient management of internet apps via a toolbar,
automatic launching of 'net apps
Cons: Toolbar isn't resizable, wouldn't automatically disconnect for
NetDial
New: On-line help; new button for quickly switching from one app
to another
