I'm recommending that you review Zoot, Forrest. Here are a few facts from their website: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overview Of Zoot For New Users The Auto-Clip Taskbar Zoot's Auto-Clip Taskbar lets you quickly collect information from any Windows application. You can add comments to the information you collect on-the-fly and Zoot can automatically organize the information into folders based on criteria you set up. When you clip a Web page using Auto-Clip, Zoot captures the Web page's URL too. Later you can double-click on the URL and Zoot will take you back to the Web page using your favorite Web browser. Auto-Clip is great for quickly scooping up information while keeping track of the information source. Web and Email Address Collection Zoot watches your Web browser and keeps track of the Web sites you visit and will also collect any Web and Email addresses that you copy to the clipboard. You can even extract URLs and their descriptions from HTML source files, enabling you to instantly create organized libraries of Web "bookmarks". Web Launcher Double-click on any valid URL and Zoot brings you to the Web site using your favorite Web browser. You can organize your favorite Web sites in a Zoot library which makes them searchable and easier to manage. Zoot works with any standard Web browser, you can even use more than one browser simultaneously. Quick Find Every Zoot Library has a Quick Find edit box. Use Quick Find to quickly search for notes in a library - just type the word or phrase you seek into the Quick Find edit box and Zoot immediately begins to search as you type. The number of note title matches and note text matches is displayed in the status bar above. Press the Enter key at any time to view the notes with matching titles or press Shift+Enter to view all matching notes (Zoot performs a full title and text search). Note Scripts As you collect information, Zoot's Note Scripts can organize the information into the appropriate folders for you. Note Scripts can also perform a variety of other functions. For example, you can create a Note Script to strip out those annoying Internet Email headers. As soon as you import your Email messages to Zoot, the Internet Headers are gone. Note Scripts can also change note titles, change a note's color or icon, copy or move notes to other libraries, and automate a variety of other note-related tasks. File Scripts Zoot's File Scripts automate file management tasks and the retrieval of information from files. File Scripts can copy, move, or delete files, import files, zip or unzip files, create file links, automate multi-file searches, and perform multi-file Abstracts Searches. File Scripts work in the background so you can continue to use your computer for other things. Trails Zoot keeps track of where you've been working through a system of Trails. Zoot's many Trails keep track of files, directories, libraries, Web sites, Email addresses, and more. Trails make it easy to get back to where you were before! Popup Notes Press the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys and Zoot will pop up a note-taking dialog so you can create quick notes while working at the Zoot Desktop or in any other Windows application. The File Wizard Drag and drop files onto the Zoot Desktop, or use Agent X's Send To Desktop command, and Zoot's File Wizard will help you complete the file import or file link process. Multi-file Searches Zoot's Agent X utility lets you perform multi-file searches without opening each file individually into a text editor. Just enter a word or phrase (with Boolean operators if you like) and click the Search button. Zoot searches your files and displays any matching text in the built in file viewer. Abstracts Searches Agent X can search your files, pull out chunks of relevant text, and store the chunks (abstracts) in a folder so that you can peruse them at your convenience. Abstracts Searches are performed in the background - so you can continue working with your computer while the search progresses. File Links When you use Agent X to clip information from files, Zoot keeps track of the file from which the information was taken. Later you can double-click on these File Links and Zoot will display the source file in the file viewer. This is a great way to collect information while keeping track of information source. File Launcher You can launch applications or documents directly from the Zoot Desktop. Creating launchers is easy - just drag and drop files from File Manager or Explorer onto the Zoot Desktop. You can drag and drop Windows 95 shortcuts and those funky Windows 95 URL shortcuts too! Zip and Unzip If you own the popular PKZIP software (by Pkware Inc.), you can use Zoot to zip and unzip files. You can even search the files contained in a zip file. The Zooter The Zooter lets you send information from your Zoot libraries to other applications. For example, you can send information from a Zoot library directly to your favorite word processor. The Zooter works with any standard Windows application. You can also put the Zooter in "clipboard mode" which enables you to send information between two other applications - Zoot handles the data transfer in the background. Text Insert Libraries Create a library of words, phrases, and paragraphs that you frequently insert into your documents. All you have to do is press F11 and Zoot pops up a list of the text inserts so that you can quickly insert them into the active document. Zoot offers many more features to help you work efficiently! Definitely a zoot! http://www.zootsoftware.com apps conference Main Menu
