Again, the layout is plain and simple -- just enter any name and WinWhois returns all the information available. One useful option is the ability to quickly call a list of Whois servers. As in the case of the two previous Finger clients, you can obtain the same information from many Web sites without having to download this app. Of course, WinWhois packs into a tight 24 Kb, so it definitely makes for a quick download. Positives: Plain and simple; does exactly what it's supposed to do, small footprint Negatives: Many Web sites will do the same thing without occupying drive space

Sounds like a primitive search engine... Google is THE search engine currently. Northernlight.com is not bad either and finds obscure articles, gives you a bit to read then the option of purchasing the entirety for a small sum. Guess I should be posting this in another topic...

No whois is a basic unix utility and this is still userful. whois shows you if a domain name is registered.

ah... See! I did not know! I started learning all of that and still am willing to if Hiatus ever turns loose the Windows programmer...
