First things first -- my name is Crystal, and my boyfriend Steve and I are Dallas poets who will be attending the Austin International Poetry Festival from Tuesday, March 31 to Sunday, April 5. We don't know a soul in Austin, and would really like to stay somewhere other than a hotel, for money reasons (sure), but because you don't really get to KNOW a place without staying with locals who know the scene. Worry not -- we're poets (who slam, even), but not the scary, afraid-to-have-them-stay-over kind. We'd be happy to take you to coffee and provide you with lotsa entertainment in exchange for the use of a guest room or couch. Since this is a vacation for us, and we'll be performing at the festival, we wouldn't be hanging around -- this is strictly a "crash out for the night, shower and leave in the morning" scenario. If any of you friendly Austinites would be willing to discuss letting two sweet, friendly, fun Dallas folks stay for a night or two, we'd really love to talk to ya.
