But it reflects Pineda's earlier life in the psychedelic underground of San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district where he was one of the founders of the Straight Theatre Group. Never predictable, Magick Papers is an absorbing tale of grime, crime and punishment. The narrative follows the story^�s protagonist on a self-indulgent but otherwise apparently purposeless journey from San Francisco to Eastern Europe with descriptive and entertaining prose. But while there, murder is afoot in San Francisco which link mysteriously to the traveler. The connection is far from obvious but comes into focus as the story progresses.
