Please help me!
I am currently researching the artistic portrayal of femininity in Villette, targeting the works of art which Lucy Snowe looks at in the gallery (Cleopatra and the french "Day in the Life of a Woman" series), and also the performance of the actress Vashti. I have looked all over for critical essays on the subject, but am coming up dry. I would REALLY like to find out whether those pieces of art actually exist or if Bronte made them up to serve a fictional symbolic purpose. If anyone could share any inf
rmation or thoughts on the subject, let me know! email: Penguita8@aol.com
THANK YOU!
