What's the puppy's name, Wer? Put up a list so we can vote.
~Wolf Tue, Jun 30, 1998 (19:06) #1
You got a pic? Can't pick a name without seeing the face!
~Wolf Tue, Jun 30, 1998 (19:08) #2

~stacey Tue, Jun 30, 1998 (20:13) #3

~Charlotte Tue, Jun 30, 1998 (20:17) #4
Ok. I wanna know how y'all got that cute little Scottie to prance around at the bottom of my screen. That is tooooo cute! He even has a shadow!
~Charlotte Tue, Jun 30, 1998 (20:20) #5
I love naming things! What kind of puppy? What color? How old? Male? Female?
~Charlotte Tue, Jun 30, 1998 (20:28) #6
Sorry, Riette. I thought you wanted us to name YOUR puppy. :) (I feel so stupid.) How about "Scooter"?
~Wolf Tue, Jun 30, 1998 (23:09) #7
Charlotte, I thought the same thing, only I thought it was wer's puppy *smile* but now that you mention the type of puppy he is, maybe we could call him scotty.......
~KitchenManager Tue, Jun 30, 1998 (23:59) #8
If he's a scot, how about Angus?
~riette Wed, Jul 1, 1998 (05:38) #9
He's not a scot! No Yankee kan create a scot!! He's a cyber yankee. But I can't come up with a name.
~KitchenManager Wed, Jul 1, 1998 (13:09) #10
can you come down with a name?
~KitchenManager Wed, Jul 1, 1998 (15:23) #11
how about inja? oh, btw, a belated welcome, Charlotte! Glad you stopped by...
~Charlotte Wed, Jul 1, 1998 (15:23) #12
OOps. I been detected. :) Have no business here, having been born in '45, but can't resist a topic called "name the puppy!". :)
~KitchenManager Wed, Jul 1, 1998 (15:23) #13
I, as one of the hosts, grant you every right to be here... (not that you need my permission, you understand, just trying to make it official and all...)
~stacey Wed, Jul 1, 1998 (15:23) #14
i second the motion!
~KitchenManager Wed, Jul 1, 1998 (15:23) #15
and as another of the hosts, Stacey has now made it even more official! so, respond away, and not just in this topic!!!
~riette Thu, Jul 2, 1998 (06:18) #16
Oops, and I never even asked! INJA, Wer? Like in NINJA, but without the N? Sounds a bit strange, don't you think? Why don't you tell us what the E in William E. Roland stands for - perhaps that could become the little darling's name.
~KitchenManager Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (01:02) #17
inja, according to my English to Zulu dictionary is dog... we are not naming the dog Eugene!!!
~Wolf Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (01:03) #18
ooo, inja sounds cool (hey wer! gotta minute?)
~KitchenManager Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (01:14) #19
yep, what's up?
~riette Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (01:54) #20
OOOHH, you've been studying, hey?! I almost forgot! Thought you'd made a typing mistake, and wanted to call our poor little baby Ninja the superdog! Ha-ya! You know, I had forgotten the word for 'dog'. Well, suppose that's what will happen if one doesn't use it. Depressing. But what if he should learn zulu some point, and find out we named him 'dog'. I mean, would you like people to call you, 'dog'? My favourite zulu name, though I don't know that many, is Mzila.
~Wolf Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (11:05) #21
there are worse names, i suppose..... (are you from Africa, riette?)
~riette Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (13:58) #22
Yep. Namibia - that's on the south west coast, between South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Angola. Beautiful place.
~Wolf Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (14:03) #23
cool!
~riette Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (14:11) #24
Actually, it's very, very, very hot there - it's a desert, you see.
~KitchenManager Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (14:14) #25
cool!
~riette Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (14:17) #26
TOTALLY, especially if you're into lots of animals and lots and lots of huge pink sanddunes. I bought a flat there a couple of years ago, so any time any of you guys want to go and see Africa, just let me know - I can provide some free accommodation there. You'll never want to come back.
~Wolf Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (14:52) #27
hmmm, never been to Africa, and i am into animals.....hmmm....safari anyone?
~KitchenManager Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (15:49) #28
I can see it now, we'll all go to Namibia (coincidentally of course) the same time Mike and Riette show up over here...
~Wolf Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (16:35) #29
it could only be coinkydink.....
~riette Sat, Jul 4, 1998 (17:43) #30
Looks like we're going to have a quiet, romantic little holiday, Mikey.
~autumn Mon, Jul 6, 1998 (00:53) #31
This dog doesn't look like he has enough dignity for a name like Inja or Chester. He looks like one of those slobbery, scrappy dogs that people name Jethro or Whitey. (BTW, Riette, your homeland sounds beautiful...)
~riette Mon, Jul 6, 1998 (04:36) #32
Thank you, Autumn, I've always been very proud of it. I think you're right about the puppy - he is a bit of a pavement special, isn't he? No offence, WER! Jethro is great!
~Wolf Tue, Jul 7, 1998 (00:14) #33
well, what about buddy, or sparky or something? he's just so darned cute!
~riette Tue, Jul 7, 1998 (02:30) #34
Or how about T-bone?
~mikeg Sat, Jul 18, 1998 (06:05) #35
D.O.G.
~riette Sat, Jul 18, 1998 (08:29) #36
Dirty Old Gilbert?
~KitchenManager Sat, Jul 18, 1998 (13:52) #37
probably closer to Damned Obnoxious Gif...
~riette Sat, Jul 18, 1998 (13:57) #38
ha-ha! thought you were at the party, Wer.
~KitchenManager Sat, Jul 18, 1998 (17:06) #39
working tonight, baby!!! (maybe afterwards...)
~riette Sun, Jul 19, 1998 (02:03) #40
sulk
~KitchenManager Sun, Jul 19, 1998 (02:51) #41
oh, yeah, you've lived and been places I can only dream about visiting, and you're sulking 'cause I went to a party I only knew one person at?
~riette Sun, Jul 19, 1998 (05:14) #42
yes 'Cos if all of us were there, we'd have so much fun.
~mikeg Sun, Jul 19, 1998 (09:55) #43
too true! we have have have have have to have a get-together. We HAVE to :-))
~riette Sun, Jul 19, 1998 (12:09) #44
I agree. So when are you coming to visit me, redneck?
~mikeg Sun, Jul 19, 1998 (14:08) #45
moi? me no redneck. confused
~riette Sun, Jul 19, 1998 (16:33) #46
The Afrikaners all call the English 'rooinekke', which means 'rednecks'. But it's not a form of insult though. I won't call you it again though - sorry. My English friends always call me 'Voortrekker Skat', if that makes you feel better.
~mikeg Sun, Jul 19, 1998 (17:01) #47
hehe...we use the term "redneck" to describe someone who...probably comes from Texas :)
~KitchenManager Mon, Jul 20, 1998 (00:55) #48
well, actually there be differences between rednecks, kickers, hicks, cowboys, goatropers, farmboys... although all of those terms do apply to a lot of Texans...
~riette Mon, Jul 20, 1998 (02:05) #49
Not VERY nice names - makes them sound like a bunch of savages!
~KitchenManager Mon, Jul 20, 1998 (08:30) #50
and your point would be?
~riette Mon, Jul 20, 1998 (10:04) #51
No idea. Must there be a point to ALL speculation?
~autumn Tue, Jul 21, 1998 (00:01) #52
I still like hillbillies the best!
~KitchenManager Tue, Jul 21, 1998 (01:32) #53
attempting to stay out of trouble this time, Autumn? if there is absolutely no point, Riette, then why do something?
~riette Tue, Jul 21, 1998 (06:21) #54
Because it's pointless, of course. I don't see any point in doing only things that have some sort of deeper meaning or point. I like doing things for no reason at all, even though I might regret it afterwards. Maybe I'm shallow. I just find the idea of everything 'leading' somewhere, and there being a point to everything and anything totally boring and predictable. Sorry, didn't mean that question to sound hostile or to make trouble.
~KitchenManager Tue, Jul 21, 1998 (16:49) #55
I know...my "point" was that even if you just do it for fun, then there's a point... didn't say anything about deeper meanings, etcetera...
~riette Wed, Jul 22, 1998 (02:18) #56
Okay, then I'm with you. 'Cos the point is that not everything has a point, and I don't search for it either. And you did imply it . . . BOOH!
~riette Wed, Jul 22, 1998 (02:19) #57
Did I manage to frighten you? You still haven't rung me from Switzerland, you know. . . .
~KitchenManager Wed, Jul 22, 1998 (08:40) #58
I told you that by the time I could probably get to do that, you'd be living in Australia...
~riette Wed, Jul 22, 1998 (09:12) #59
Or not. We're having huge doubts about Australia - would mean that Chris would earn a third of what he earns here; though we'd have a house etc., trips to Europe, Africa or America would be a non-occurrence. Right now I don't think I could cope with not seeing my siblings for years at a time, or not being able to visit Africa or Europe. This strains the Walton marriage, as you can imagine. He wants to go, I'm not so sure.
~Nan11 Fri, Jul 24, 1998 (19:00) #60
Not to get off-topic here but I've been thinking about the dog :-) He reminds me of Barney Rubble in that episode where Fred hypnotizes him and he thinks he's a dog. The Flintstones--how's that for GenX? ;-D So, I would like to say Barney...but that may have obnoxious purple dinosaur connotations...whaddya think?
~autumn Fri, Jul 24, 1998 (22:36) #61
How about Dino, then?
~riette Sat, Jul 25, 1998 (04:56) #62
Dino the Dog! That's great.
~KitchenManager Sat, Oct 10, 1998 (00:43) #63
Have we ever actually settled on a name for the puppy?
~wolf Thu, Oct 15, 1998 (16:58) #64
not unless he's royalty and has 15 first names!
~riette Fri, Oct 16, 1998 (03:43) #65
Sonja here: Which puppy?
~KitchenManager Fri, Oct 16, 1998 (13:38) #66
