hellp people,, stumbled across this site while trying to search for specs on timing and carb specs for my bike..started reading some of the posts and figured this to be a good place to get into..seems like a bunch of have some background and experience your willing to pass along.last week i bought my "first" harley..its a 76 super glide FX..dont know mileage-but ran well and looked well---biggest thing tho is my dad had exact same bike many years ago--zep he had elect start also-lucky @&^$%#@...anyway supposedly top was done 4-5k ago....it has S&S-E carb kit,drags, fat-bobs which i cant keep bib and speedo centered---actually cracked speedo/tach case yesterday-ching/ching...tach dont work-dont know if its not wired right or bad-but need to solve cause im told i have tendency to push r's----always had kaws-r.s werent a issue....i let a guy replace points-entire kit with weights---now bike stutters alot on way thro r's especially lower and high end in 3-4th..never reset timing--dah--i was still going thru 1st harley shock and wasnt aware....anyway ive tried advancing time a little bit and it still aint right.plus idle seems to have increased quite a bit.WHAT IS THE RIGHT WAY TO SET ???? i have a timing lidght and a manual is on order but i would like to fix this... also how / where can i get info on this S&S set-up so i can get familiar with...when you guys talk of re-jetting how do you know proper jet for the situation?? i was thinking jetting was correct on bike because front pipe shows very little blue..same guy who replaced points said low end jet aint jetted right??whos to say?? this guy is ok and hes had quite a few shovels but i dont have a lot of faith at this point..besides i prefer to screw up my rides myself when i can ...just never had hog b-4...over winter i thinking of putting electronic ign in --crane or dyna---read a guys opion on 1 coil vs 2 --sort-of agree but i will be looking for more comparisons...also would like to add the starter kit-kickin aint bad zep i have double hernias right now and dont want to blow a gasket ay..by now your probably saying man this guys long winded--i am --good thing i cant type fast--might be longer,,did i leave anything out??i do need a new dash and tach!! any catolog - used parts suppliers to put in my shovels address book--have j&p and fog hollow on way... glenn

Welcome Glenn, glad you "stumbled in"! We may not have carb specs but we hae a conversation on motorcycles. Congrats on the Harley.Wish I could tell you how to set your carb, may have to wait till someone else stumbles in. Keep on haulin' down those highways, Glenn.

yesterday i received my manual and a friend of mine and i set er up--i was the one with lots of oil in face...ok tho-kinda cool..now "rosey" just a thumpin and aint breakin up at all...still lookin for some opions on that single fire ignition..... glenn@wageswebworks.com
