Oooh, oooh! I'm first!! Watch, I'll be the only one to comment, too, LOL. How AICN geeky of me. ;-D Stevie Wonder on in Philly now. Pink Floyd just off in London. Totally awesome!! MTV shut the hell up for all but a bit at the end of their set. Awesome songs...Breathe, Money, Wish You Were Here from my favorite album of theirs of the same title (and one of my Top 3 favorite albums period), and Comfortably Numb. Knew they'd have to do something from The Wall with Roger Waters there. Wonder how many millions of $$ is being thrown at them for a limited number of additional concerts. I'd save up to pay the ticket broker fees for that. Pink Floyd still one of my top 3 concerts (though without Roger Waters). Must've been fantastic to be there for their set. Favorites of the day...Madonna and The Who absolutely smoked. Madonna especially during Ray of Light. Love that song. And Roger Daltrey! The guy's 61 and looks and sounds better than ever. He and Springsteen have aged the best of all the rockers, I think, with their looks and sound. I think Daltrey sounds and looks better than he has in ages. Loved the blue glasses. What was up with the blue paint on Michael Stipe of REM? Solidarity with some tribe in Africa? OK, Stevie Wonder started out strong, but now boring me with this slow song.

Oh my. That's a tad tough to read with that background. It's cute though.

Thanks Karen for the 'special Topic'! Its great to share the Live8 Yeah Dorine didn't the Who smoke. Me, my DH and friends were really rocking here!! and Pink Floyd were just out of this world. Good to see them together again on stage!I have to say that Robbie Williams did it for me too when he jumped off the stage and into the crowd, what a performer, just great! The London ending was terrific! I love 'The Long and winding road' and 'Hey Jude' was just a perfect ending to a very memorable day for me! and tomorrow I will catch up on some of the afternoon coverage which unfortunately we had to miss and I will see if I can see a certain persons AFG face in the crowd! LOL, about Micheal Stipe's blue stripe, don't know what that was about, but have to say I wasn't keen on it! Have to say that its been a day I will never forget!

Found this on an online journal from someone writing for AOL. Found the first part rather amusing. I awoke this morning at 6:24AM to the sound of mooing. Wondering who might be herding cows through downtown Philadelphia, I stumbled to the window. Instead of a bovine procession, I saw a steady stream of people moving inexorably towards the Live 8 stage, some 10 blocks away. The gates had opened. I guess the mooing sound was just the combined effect of thousands of sneakers on pavement, the low, steady chatter of excited voices, and wheels of hundreds of coolers trundling along the asphalt. Or maybe someone was mooing. Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I rushed outside and joined the thronging masses. There were all kinds of people. White and black, male and female, tall and short, fat and thin, young and--well, mainly just young, really. I did see the occasional mom and dad corralling the entire family, but mainly spending twelve hours in 83 degree heat is the sport of the youthful, and contrary to their reputation as early birds, no senior citizens were to be seen among the procession.

800,000 to 1 million in Philly They say. Mari, were you in there with them? On line is definitely the best place to see everything. TV coverage over here is so lame! AOL did a great job. I was so pleased to get to see Great Big Sea in the Canada concert. I met Alan Doyle. He is a dear of a man, and can work a crowd! And Sargent Pepper! We have the vinyl album from the kids' young days. Many the time I wanted to smash it back then. Glad I didn't!

(Sue)Me, my DH and friends were really rocking here!! How come you didn't attend? You're not that far from London. Did anybody on Drool attend a live performance? Like a football game; you might get a better view on TV, but nothing beats the real thing.

(Sue)Me, my DH and friends were really rocking here!! (Evelyn)How come you didn't attend? You're not that far from London. Good question Evelyn! but the only way to get tickets was via a 'mobile telephone lottery' and and we didn't win :-( To have gone on the 'off chance' of getting admittance and booking a room overnight would have been a bit too risky and a bit too pricey, because the train service to Colchester is virtually non-existant to our area of the UK after midnight and the price of a London Hotel would, I am sure, have 'gone through the roof' ;-) Personally I thought the UK TV coverage was on the whole excellent and we certainly got in the 'party swing' here with some friends! Am now recovering this morning ;-) BTW, did any UK Droolers manage to get tickets to the Hyde Park gig?

Have just been re watching my tape of it. Was on child duty when David Beckham introduced Robbie! Could have done without seeing that at all!!! I was nearly as emotional as Roger Waters when Pink Floyd were on. Was amazed to see him there-he and Dave Gilmour still don't appear to be talking very much. John Macenroe(how'd you spell that?) said as much on telly just now. But they were completely incredible. Anyway, still getting blanket coverage over here, news wise. Papers are full of it. Yet to watch the majority of the Philly stuff, though did catch the Kaiser Chiefs and a bit of Stevie Wonder.(He's got Livia's Mane)

(Felicity)Have just been re watching my tape of it. Was on child duty when David Beckham introduced Robbie! Could have done without seeing that at all!!! ROTFLOL, do I assume that you are referring to David Beckhams well rehearsed and executed speech? ;-) it was 'mind blowing stuff' and took Robbie to liven up the crowd again ;-) I was nearly as emotional as Roger Waters when Pink Floyd were on. Was amazed to see him there-he and Dave Gilmour still don't appear to be talking very much Yeah, I thought that there didn't seem much communcation between the two when on stage and that there was some tension between them! but good that they were able to put their differences aside to a degree for the good of the concert, very sad that their performance is more than likely never to be heard or seen live again! Whilst the presenters were interviewing the performers just after they left the stage I was watching people coming and going in the background and saw several 'remote' possible 'Colin Sightings'so I will re-watch my DVD recordings very carefully over the next few days, "just in cases"!

Kia Ora all Pink Floyd went up on stage just before I was supposed to start work - absolutely brilliant. But I have to agree, the "fleeting glimpse" (Comfortably Numb)that we caught of the four was probably the last. Rob

Where was this concert?
~southernalps Thu, Apr 6, 2006 (09:01) #13
Kia Ora PF played at the London event in the Live 8 - must have, because it was twelve hours behind NZST. Circa 10PM there when it was 10AM here in NZ. Rob
