A buddy of mine who has done stints as a DJ on local radio has claimed that the only rock I like was created and played by classically-trained musicians. Thus anything done by (but not in any particular order) Moody Blues Elton John Billy Joel selected things by Eric Clapton - especially "Question" I'd love to hear Bohemian Rhapsody played by a symphony orchestra. Did n't the London Symphony Orchestra play back up for the Moodies?

Your choices are a little more extreme than mine.... I guess I should do some listening. no wonder you love Jimi. He's The Bomb

whole lotta love, definitely (was made for strings, don't you think?)... 'inagoddadavida' has always struck me as mach-ish, as well

Never heard "Whole Lotta Love". "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" would probably sound quite good when played by an orchestra.

oops (the previous post equals the sum of my writing, last few years... paula jane does the writing)... hope you and brandon are doing well... paula jane and i have been in austin for the past year... very cool, but the town is getting too frigging citified... any idea what became of WER? and what was the name of that restaurant, where he worked? we'd like to check it out sometime

wer is still around lurking but not posting. He used to work at that Italian restaurant on Spicewood Springs but he's at a new place whose name escapes me right now.

Little Italy... he used to work at Little Italy. I don't know where he works now... haven't heard a word from him in years... Tell him I say 'hey' when you see/hear from him Paul! And nick... glad to hear things are going alright for you and paula jane. We are well... having babies and trying not to become the stereo-typical suburbanites we used to have such great fun poking fun at while we drank beer and/or coffee skating around the streets of Austin in complete ignorance of what our future would hold!

I'm talking to him on the phone about launching a giant dmoz style directory of links here on the Spring. That project is like a giant shuttle on the launching pad.

Columbia? Or Challenger? (This is a pessimist typing here...)
~terry Thu, Jul 17, 2003 (19:35) #14
Hopefully neither. We're using it as a starting point for a giant links directory to be linked to conference topics.
