Got to give those Superbowl champions their due!
~stacey Wed, Feb 25, 1998 (17:25) #2
looked high and low for some cajun food last night (besides Bayou Bob's which I've already been to) to celebrate Fat Tuesday with but... no one even knew what I meant by the phrase. "fat Tuesday? you mean the bar?" Guess we are too far north and west. Last year same problem. Went to JAX and asked for a hurricane on Fat Tuesday his response was, "I can make you something that kinda tastes like that." AAaaaaaack! NO THANK YOU! Some things weren't meant to be approximated.

went to Landry's instead and had smothered Ponchatrain (close enough!)

We ate at Pappadeux's, although not in Denver... Does anyone up there have better tiramisu than mine?
~terry Wed, Feb 25, 1998 (19:18) #5
I ate at the Crab Shack again and had a great time, the appetizer was so good that I had them doggie bag the main course and I had it later on that night at home.

Ate at Washington Park Grill last week -- eggplant fettecine with roasted red peppers and kalamata olives (after an amazing calamari with cayenne aioli appetizer), on Friday The Armadillo (satisfactory Tex-Mex with very mild magaritas), on Saturday The Bluebonnet (satisfactory Tex-Mex with otta this world Patron Magaritas!!!). Saturday extended itself to accomadate several other bars after a few too many magarita liters at lunch (an afternoon with a good friend spent drinking, talking and playing pool!!) Brandon was in Chicago for a week so I surrounded myself witenty of fun activities! his week I'd like to go to the Melting Pot, an incredilble fondue restaurant in Littleton... ya'll feel free to come up and join me!

Ya know I actually have someone calling me who wants me to drive to Denver with her. I'm not that hot on the idea though, too many irons in the fire here.
~stacey Mon, Mar 2, 1998 (17:06) #8

~terry Mon, Mar 2, 1998 (17:50) #9

~terry Fri, Mar 13, 1998 (18:11) #16
Off the subject, but what are the two Denver newspapers called? And what is their restaurant coverage like? (Notice how I skillfully rescued that potential topic drift?)
~stacey Fri, Mar 13, 1998 (18:13) #17
The Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News Best restaurant reviews would be in the Westword (equivalent to the Austin Chronicle)
~terry Fri, Mar 13, 1998 (18:17) #18
So the majors don't do very good coverage?
~stacey Mon, Mar 16, 1998 (11:42) #19
every Friday there is a Weekender section in both papers. Typically they review one or maybe two restaurants. Lately I've been frustrated because they have reveiwed a whole slew of chain restaurants. Who the heck cares about those?!?!?!
~stacey Mon, Mar 23, 1998 (09:53) #20
ate at the Cherry Cricket last night. yummy salads, good po-boys, okay enchiladas but lots and lots on tap!
~stacey Thu, Jun 4, 1998 (15:43) #21

~stacey Sat, Oct 3, 1998 (11:19) #23
Went downtown last night. Dinner at Marlowe's. Crab cakes were excellent! Calamari was blah. Salad was okay. Almond crusted salmon was AMAZING! Beer was yummy as usual. Denver celebrated Oktoberfest in September and this weekend they are celebrating beer -- the great american beer fest.
~stacey Tue, Oct 6, 1998 (18:01) #24
went to yet another Denver restaurants last nigh. (wow my fingers are akk winky with their typing!) The Rialto Cafe downtown Denver off of 16th street mall. Tres yummy! I had the bestest shrimp bisque ever (spicy and rich) Some odd prawn and fried vermicelli thingy with a wonton and mashed potatos on top. Strange mix of flavors. Seared ahi with a ginger wasabi sauce (sounds trite and trendy but I really love the stuff!) And the most delicious salmon with a raisin/ginger sauce, mashed potatos and green stuff. Oooh boy, it was yummy!
~terry Tue, Oct 6, 1998 (21:09) #25
Wow, are you ever eating good Stacey. It inspires me to go out to a really good restaurant tonight.
~stacey Wed, Oct 7, 1998 (10:50) #26

~terry Thu, Oct 8, 1998 (13:19) #27
Yep, went to a seafood place right after I posted that. Tonight I'm going to another seafood place, but not sure which one. Pappadeaux, maybe.
~stacey Thu, Oct 8, 1998 (14:59) #28
Mmmm. Yummy. Seafood is a little difficult to find in Colorado. I take that back. GOOD seafood is a little difficult to find in Colorado.
~stacey Fri, Oct 9, 1998 (10:34) #29

~riette Mon, Nov 16, 1998 (04:19) #31

~stacey Mon, Nov 16, 1998 (15:32) #32
all company meals Ree-head, all company meals!
~jgross Mon, Nov 16, 1998 (16:38) #33
you keep really good company, Stace
~TIM Mon, Nov 16, 1998 (22:06) #34
Must be nice. Only worked for one company that supplied meals. Cold fried chicken at your work station.
~riette Tue, Nov 17, 1998 (01:31) #35
Ugh! In my case I AM the company. But I'll take my working partner out for lunch this week, I think - haven't had Thai for ages.
~TIM Tue, Nov 17, 1998 (05:23) #36
I love thai food and there is a thai restaraunt right around the corner from the house here.
~stacey Tue, Nov 17, 1998 (09:31) #37
you must live next door to me what's the name of the restaurant tim?
~TIM Tue, Nov 17, 1998 (12:49) #38

~stacey Tue, Nov 17, 1998 (14:28) #39

~TIM Tue, Nov 17, 1998 (19:44) #40
Austin Tx
~riette Wed, Nov 18, 1998 (01:47) #41
Don't they all?!
~TIM Wed, Nov 18, 1998 (02:03) #42
Well it is the center of the computer world.
~stacey Wed, Nov 18, 1998 (17:51) #43
no, silly. I knew that part. I was wondering where within Austin, but now I know... On the Walhus farm!
~TIM Wed, Nov 18, 1998 (21:15) #44
Sometimes, I think it's the funny farm.
~KitchenManager Wed, Nov 18, 1998 (22:09) #45
and I havn't even started coming over to borrow the computer(s) yet...
~TIM Wed, Nov 18, 1998 (23:54) #46
Better hurry. If you wait too long, there may not be any functional computers left.
~riette Thu, Nov 19, 1998 (01:57) #47
Terry the computer breeder!
~TIM Thu, Nov 19, 1998 (02:26) #48
Or something like that.
~KitchenManager Thu, Nov 19, 1998 (23:32) #49
How many are broken out of the eight?
~riette Fri, Nov 20, 1998 (01:27) #50
Only the ones they did it on!
~TIM Fri, Nov 20, 1998 (03:16) #51
Right now only one works flawlessly.
~KitchenManager Fri, Nov 20, 1998 (10:10) #52
What's a few flaws 'tween friends?
~riette Sat, Nov 21, 1998 (01:08) #53
exactly
~TIM Sat, Nov 21, 1998 (01:08) #54
A friend is, by definition, someone that knows all about you, and loves you anyway. Faults and all.
~TIM Sat, Nov 21, 1998 (01:08) #55
My friend Laura, the one I took to the hospital last night, has this really neat scroll with the sentiment expressed in the last posting, on it. but in better language. She ought to know, she can count her friends on the fingers of one hand.
~riette Mon, Nov 23, 1998 (01:45) #56
It's better to be able to count one's friends on the fingers of on hand than to be able to count aquaintances on all fingers and toes.
~tami Mon, Nov 23, 1998 (11:00) #57
Indeed!
