******************** FEBRUARY OVERWIEW ******************** Astrological overview: Venus spends a great portion of this month in Aries, a fine place for her while Mars eventually moves from secretive Scorpio on into bodacious Sagittarius. Mercury, the littlest planet, has the biggest news as he bumps into Pisces, in the first week, then starts a backwards trek, all the way back through the preceding sign -- Aquarius. The little communicator's movement is going to be rather upsetting to all the air signs, most notably Gemini and Aquarius. In fact, Mr. Mercury and his backwards ways are the main influence, all month long. Aries [3. 21 - 4. 19]: Venus this and Venus that, and you're going to wonder if another planet is going to get any attention this month. Frankly, no. It's just much easier to concentrate on the one little one, that would be Miss Venus in all her shining glory. And as long as we're looking at her, and how she affects your sign, think about all the pleasures -- guilty pleasures -- which you should, could, would be enjoying if Mercury wasn't spending most of his time really playing at making your little deals seem like big deals. So be careful about over indulgence. You'll tend to want to have a good time, a little too much of a good thing, and then the timing is all wrong for this much fun. Get the idea? Slow down, maybe avoid the "all you can eat" buffet. You could take that as a challenge. Reminds me of just such a BBQ offer, and a friend of mine was determined to make sure he got his money's worth. It wasn't a pretty sight. He motored in under his own power, but by the end of the evening, we were pushing him out in a cart. I think it was that piece of pie which did him in. To be sure, he did get his money's worth, but at what price? So be a little careful during the next few weeks' time, and think twice before accepting that pleasurable challenge. Taurus [4. 19 - 5.20]: Pick up the pieces as the Taurus worlds seems to fall into a state of complete disrepair. Just pick up the pieces and keep moving. I'd suggest you keep moving forward, but that might not be the best idea, but you can always pretend. Make believe worlds are not always the best places to be, and a good Taurus doesn't live in a fantasy world -- but for right now, maybe even for the duration of this month, just such a place might be a better place to live. My little version of Taurus reality is a comfortable place where I don't have to work too hard, and the pleasure, the little pleasures which are so important, these can be found right at the end of my fingertips. But given the way the planets fall out of line right now, you might find this made up reality is a bit of a stretch. Close you eyes a little, give yourself a little stretch, arch you back some, and see if this doesn't seem to make it a little easier to reach that item, person, place, thing -- which seems to be evading your grasp. You might not make it, but you will feel much better. Gemini [5.21- 6. 21]: The Mercurial spin to the month does not spell doom and gloom, although, by the time this missive arrives, more than one Gemini will be complaining about the planet's errant behavior. See: it's not the particular planet's fault, no Mercury and his antics are easily predictable. The problem stems from the Gemini reactions to this. More often than not, I get frantic notes from the Gemini camp, about how everything in their lives are all messed up. The key is not to panic. Don't worry about the small stuff. Another friend has sage advice: "Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things." It might not make sense to a non-Gemini person right now, but this is a good rule to follow to make it through the coming month. Simple, sound advice. A little disconcerting, but by no means the end of the world. Although, at times, it will certainly feel like that. Cancer [6. 22 - 7. 22]: Yes, well let me tell you a little tale, it's a sad story about going with a new friend to a little town, just south of Austin, a place called Lockhart. What a good name for Valentine's Day, right? Get a lock on that heart. Anyway, this one little town is famous for several BBQ places. One was in business in the same location for 99 and a half years. Good stuff. When they moved, they ceremoniously carried burning embers from the old pit to the new location. Another place has been in the same family longer than any other BBQ place in Texas, possibly in the world. What can be said about Lockhart? Looks like they eat a lot of meat there. Now, I was out to impress this one person, so I suggested an outing to this town. Bound to find something to please her, right? Turns out, my big idea, my great idea, my idyllic afternoon dreams were a little shattered by one fact I overlooked: she was a Vegetarian. Instead of pulling a stunt like I did, I really recommend you check out all the facts first. Maybe even double check them. Nothing is worse, than lining up with your date at the BBQ counter, watching them slice delicious farm animals, seared to perfection, watching that mouth watering food [and good intentions] go to waste. And nothing is worse than a lame excuse like, "The Potato Salad and Cole Slaw are vegetables, right? You can eat that?" You get the picture. It's Mercury, it's your love life, and little bit of thoughtful preparation would really help. Leo [7. 23 - 8. 23]: It is not the end of the world, in fact, shortly after the big celebration, there's a turning point, after St. Valentine's Day, there's a shift in directions which is good. After you get over the marketing hype, the failed encounters, the mistaken directions, after you get passed all that, then there's a good thing or two which should be happening. With the right sense of humor, you can be amazed at what's going on. The promise of Valentine's Day is pretty much broken; however, right after that fateful day, there's a change, and your life begins to look a lot better. And those annoying, minor details which have been so problematic in the past are less of a problem as the second half of the month begins. The individual calamities associated with Mercury's mayhem really aren't that bad. I'd just suggest you watch what you do beforehand. Be a little more careful about what you say. There's a good little speech in Hamlet, from Polonius, and I've always liked it. "Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar." [Hamlet -- Act I, scene iii, line 61] That little bit of advice is the way I'd look at this month, easy words to suggest, but it might need some Leo like attention to get through it all. Virgo [8. 24 - 9. 22]: The tiniest of hints suggest that there's some good which will emerge from this astrological mess of a month. There will be, of course, in the Virgo camp, much wringing of the hands, much gnashing of the teeth, much shaking of the fists at the skies. Ain't my fault, it's just Mercury, and see: he's doing his backward thing in a Fixed Air Sign. Communications go right down the toilet, and I'd borrow a bit of symbolism from the Gemini camp, learn not to freak out when something doesn't work right. If Project A is not going according to your perfect Virgo plan, then move onto Project B. Or, if that doesn't work, then try number three [Project C]. You've got a whole alphabet to work with, and after that, you can always double up on the digits, in order to keep moving forward. See? It's not that bad. There are a few, little, minor, frustrating things which seem to keep cropping up, but if you get a big hammer, you can just hit the problems on the head. While this won't solve the problem itself, it will keep everything in a slightly stunned state for the duration. Libra [9. 23 - 10. 22]: It's all kind of relative, or maybe it's because some of my relatives are Libra, but this is such a weird little month, it all gets up and rolls around backwards. You know the Mercury thing, big problems for little folks. Or is that little problems for big people? There are a couple of high points, and these lovely little astrological indicators suggest that your life is a little easier than, say, the guy sitting next to you. At the beginning of the month, there's a rather uncomfortable blip on your Libra monitor, that thing you use to ascertain what it's like outside. There's a little blip which indicates danger. You will probably avoid this blip and its message. While ignoring it does have a certain appeal, I'm not sure the real problem is ever addressed. But ignore it anyway, and see what happens. The rest of the time, and despite the little problems so often associated with a major Mercury Retrograde, things seem okay. Maybe not the best, but you are less inclined to worry about some of the stuff which seems to be falling down around other peoples' heads. Now, as Mars drags himself into Sagittarius, get ready for the fun to begin. Your mouth is going to be like my old truck's motor, it sputters, it takes a few tries to get it to run right, but eventually, it gets chugging down the road. Same with you, you might not get started right, or might not start out right the first time, but eventually, you get chugging down that road, and other folks begin to understand you a little better. Scorpio [10. 23 - 11. 22]: There is magic in the air, but it's not like this is anything you can reach out and actually touch. It's like the mist on the lake in the morning, the early winter mornings here in Texas, and while I can describe this mist with great detail, it's not like I can reach out and accurately lay a finger on it. Same problem with the magic in your life this month. You can't quite get a grasp on it. Worried about who is doing what to whom? Mercury spends most the month in a bad place for you, confusing some issues, while, at the same time, you have Mr. Mars, in Scorpio for the first part of the month. That's usually pretty good for you, but this one has a little kick, and I'm not sure you like being kicked like this. About the only part of your life which feels remotely stable is work, and even that's questionable, especially at the first of the month when you have way too much energy, and no one (this is getting redundant) is listening to you. Your great ideas, your wonderful plans, none of that is getting advanced at a pace to suit you. You're getting a little bit of a run around, all month long, and rather than let this get under your Scorpio skin, I'd let it slide. There is an amusing quality to all of this, take out your Scorpio sense of humor, dust off your wit, and get ready to mince a few metaphors. Now, this magic will be floating around all month, but it's not anything you can lay your little Scorpio pincers on, so relax. Luxuriate, when you can, in the feeling as the tides of time shift stuff more your direction as the month gets longer. Sagittarius [11. 22 - 12. 22]: I think it's high time I returned to that land down under. I really should make another trip to Australia because it's been so long since my last visit. And what better place to be when Mars starts warming us up, here in Sagittarius. It all starts the day after Valentine's Day, and we need to get comfortable with Mars. He's here for a long haul, and sooner or later, he will insist on being felt. Doesn't help much that Mercury is busy dragging himself back and forth in one of our favorite signs, either. Travel when Mercury is backwards isn't always a good idea -- works fine for me -- but I know about the delays, and I always carry a good book to read. Anyway, in Australia, everything is reversed from what it is up here: the toilet bowls spin in the opposite direction, their Winter is a our Summer, their Spring is our Fall, and so forth. Makes looking at the Mercury business going on all month seem okay, everything is fine, it's just backwards. Due to the way Mars is spinning right now, all the Sagittarius are suddenly energized like never before. Only, with Mercury causing mayhem, we've got it all backwards, too. So, the best solution is to go to Australia. Here's a travel tip I remember from my last time there, though: do not, under any circumstance, ever try to out drink an Australian native, and especially don't try to do this on their home turf. Get comfortable with Mercury and Mars, but don't try to beat someone on their own ground. Some fights aren't worth the trouble. Capricorn [12. 23 - 1. 18]: If this was a normal month with 30 regular days, we could work well with the numbers, because there is a turning point for you: Feb. 15. Mark it. Inscribe it, think about it. Yes, that's the day AFTER Valentine's Day. That's the day after the big holiday for love and romance, that's the day after all the good stuff is supposed to happen. The easy way out for me, the simplest way to sit down with my quill pen and describe what is going on, is to suggest your romantic encounter is a great but everything afterwards goes right down the plumbing, straight into the sewer. You don't like that. Neither do I. It's a matter of understanding how the planets work, and it's a matter of balancing what is going on, and Mercury is not the big culprit. Sure, he's up to his usual tricks, but you have a Capricorn sense of humor, and while that might be sorely tested, you're still dealing with it okay. It's what happens when Mars sneaks out of Scorpio that has me concerned. Yes, my fine Capricorn friend, Mars is going to start playing a little game with your subconscious side, tweaking your desires, adding a little stage direction to some of your mental images, and Mr. Red Orb of Desire himself will also take some of the mercurial stuff which is already beginning to pop up, and it will add a definite spin to it. Work with this weirdness, not against it. A little time after the middle of the month, a little time from there to the end of the month -- it's an excellent time to go fish. This could be literal, or this could figurative, but it's great time to seek a little solace of your own company, if only for the briefest of times. In other words, plan on a little time alone, after the holiday. Give Cupid's arrows a chance to find their targets. Aquarius [1. 19 - 2. 18]: For several years, I was dutifully recording various antics about Mercury being retrograde, little stories of woe and missed communications, missed directions, and missed understandings, little tales with a degree of humor in them, little stories which I always thought were kind of cute. My family s a great source of entertainment for me. Unfortunately, that same family doesn't always like being the butt of the cosmic joke, and I'm afraid some of the members of my immediate family started taking it rather personally that I was so willing to put their problems into print, their lives [our lives], laid bare for everyone to see. Know the feeling? Okay, next point: I found a legal notice on the tail end of a celebrity web page, "anything submitted to us becomes ours," was the gist of what it said, in so much legalese. Now, before you consider sending me your tales of woe due to the influence of Mr. Mercury, think about it. Do you really want to see it in print? Do you really want all your little problems, no matter how comical at the time, do you really want this recorded for posterity? That's what you have to look out for, most near all this month. You're usually lucky in the "Mercury is backwards" department, You're usually untouched, or, at least, not troubled much. Sadly, that is not the case this time. Words, deeds and events have a way of coming back to haunt you -- particularly this month. Deal is Mr. Mercury goes backwards all through your sign, and the deal is he brings up some old stuff that you really should've dealt with earlier. And the problem is, you're less inclined to want to deal with this stuff as it arises. No easy way through, either. Now, I know it's your birthday time, for a lot of you, and I know that you'd like to have a good party, and I know it should be your party time all month long, but be a little extra careful. Maybe leave some open spots in your calendar and schedule to make sure you can account for unexpected little "things" which are bound to arise. I know you feel like we're going over old ground, but it's like one family story I committed to a web page: it has continued to haunt me every year since. You've got a similar haunting this month. Laugh about it. Pisces [2. 19 - 3. 20]: Look here: I've been writing these things, and spending a lot of time interfacing with real people, looking at what is going on with each sign, and while that, in and of itself, is no great claim, it does give me an edge which I find lacking in some others, an ability to see just what is going on. And from that observed pattern, one of the things I've noticed is that you're going to be a little more upset, uptight, and unsettled for this coming month. Deal with it. The problem is Mercury, the solution is patience, and the rest of us fail to grasp the seriousness of your concern. It's like this: there are certain things in your life, certain little motions you go through, it's like grinding the politically correct coffee beans for that breakfast cup of coffee around my trailer, it's a very important task, and it comes first, every morning. Ritual. There's something entirely comforting in the same old thing, the same action, almost as if by rote memory, each morning, same thing, stagger to the kitchen's counter, pour beans into the grinder, whir, crunch, and all is getting better. Now, around here, the cat gets upset when I don't open a can of food for her first, but let's face some facts, you have to have priorities, and the coffee comes first. Then the cat food. Mercury is going to pull some tricks, though, and here's the example, you stagger to the counter again, expecting the usual, and find that you're out of coffee beans. Tragedy? Not according to the cat, she could care less, like so many other non-Pisces folks. Now, before you step out to pick up some coffee, consider that extra part of the ritual which is missing: feed the cat. While this won't make everything all better, given the flavor to the month, doing something special for someone else, even in light of your own, personal disaster, is a good idea. Shakespeare's "All's Well That Ends Well" [II.iii.1] Let's hope not all the miracles are past, not just yet. Astrological overview: Mars is slowing down, Venus is turning around and heating up, and the rest of the planets and signs are doing what they usually do. Late in the month, Saturn makes a triumphant return to Gemini, and Venus eventually winds up Taurus. Aries: There is a window of opportunity which hits late in the month. Sometime after the middle of the month, not long after the fateful tax day. I know you were planning to have all that tax stuff well out of the way by then, what with a contingency plan working as well, but seeing as how it's been such a weird spring time (it is spring time in the Northern Hemisphere, I guess if you're that one Aries in the Southern Hemisphere, it's been a weird, what? Fall?) -- anyway, it's been a weird one thus far, and you have to plan on making it to the end of the month. Yes, sometime after the official tax there's a good little break. Get ready to jump on it. Taurus: Weird is as weird does. I know it's your birthday time, at least, at the beginning of the month, and I don't want to stop you from enjoying that, but make some serious plans, too. There are certainly a few problems with interpersonal communications right now, and instead of making this worse, instead of letting this problem communicating get to you, do something to let other folks know that it'll be okay. Do that, and enjoy the strange tone of the times. Gemini: There's supposed to be a light, airy feeling to being a Gemini. Unfortunately, you ain't going to be feeling that right now. Not this week, not this month. The problem is not you -- no, the problem is "them." Which "them" is that? Could be a lot of different folks, but I usually allude to it the "Lesser 11," which means non-Gemini signs. Now look: every strange little nightmare seems to manifest itself at one time or another, your attitude helps deal with this stuff that pops up. Deal with at you see fit. Cancer: Some folks need a good thump on the head to knock a little sense into their brains. I'm not one to advocate actually striking someone -- that looks too much like manual labor, and lord knows, I avoid hard work every chance I get. But you need a gentle thump to knock you off what you're doing, and then, get yourself headed down the correct pathway. This is a time when you tend to obsess about a certain details, and then, while worrying about one arcane point, you miss the whole picture. Thump. You've been picked up and corrected now. Leo: No one loves Leo as much as I do. But this last few days have been less than kind, less than wonderful, and less than what you want. Get over it. Get back up on your Leo feet, quite thinking about how unfairly the planets have treated you (like it's really their fault?), and start making progress forwards. Or, borrow a scenario from a Cancer, if your forward progress is impeded, then work at going sideways. It's a little unusual, but you'll be surprised how sideways looks like forward motion by the end of this month. Virgo: Think about it. Think long and hard. Consider that big step before you make it. It's a simple message, I can't emphasize it enough, but look before you leap. You get a good idea, you want to run with the idea, but look where you're putting your feet before you start bolting off. Trust me on this one, just be willing to consider something before impulsively answering "yes." Libra: Communication becomes a challenge this month. This can be good, if you work with what's there. Your ability to get your beautifully packaged Libra note across is good. The deal is this: you launch your message onto the turbulent waves of electronic communication and hope that nothing gets twisted around. Worried about it? No, no way. You did keep a copy of what you sent, though. You did, didn't you? Scorpio: I would suggest you're having a little bit of fun with the Mars thing. As long as he's poking around, poking along, in some other sign, he's torturing them a lot more than he's doing anything to you. Late in the month, you're going to feel something as the planets bump into other signs, but that's really no big deal, not for you. You are, after all, a good Scorpio, and good Scorpio's are built of strong stuff. There is a minor matter involving money, late in the month, though, and this will require a lot of attention. Don't forget to pay your astrologer. Sagittarius: No sooner does one planet of romantic importance get hooked back up and flowing in a good, orderly direction, than another one takes it upon himself to slow down, causing a small degree of strife in the dating/relationship department. Be the gregarious, magnanimous Sag that you are, though, and don't worry too much about the individual problems. It's the little things that don't work out. But you might want to take a page from my book about romance, and start buying those "oh baby, I was so wrong, please, please, please...." cards. Get the groveling instincts back in form, you'll probably want them a little later. Capricorn: There's this quizzical, bizarre look you get on your face, and no where does it show up more than this month. It's that look that suggests you're lost. Now, if you're like most of the Capricorn's I know, you're not really lost. But you might be a tad bit confused about the way things are going right now. When in doubt, as no doubt you'll be most of the month, but when in doubt, reach out to lend a helping hand. You'll find that goes a lot further than any other act. Aquarius: You're none too sure about all the retrograde terms, and what all this astrology stuff is going to mean because, by the end of the month, you've got a new, more serious tone you're looking at. What are you going to do with it? I'd get serious about the business end of a relationship you've been entertaining. Move it over from entertainment and start to call it work. Or maybe it's the reverse of that, but the relationship arena of your life could use a little effort on your part. Pisces: Chill out. There's a whole bunch of serious stuff going on around you, and the best way to handle this is to spend the greater portion of the coming month, parked in your trailer's living room, sitting on top of that recliner, doing what you do best. Instead of tackling tasks that require too much physical energy, why not see what you can do from that one position? A remote, the phone, a cool beverage, you get the idea. ********************** May's Forecast ********************** Astrological overview: There are always a few bumps in the road, and the sooner we all learn how to accept these little obstacles, how much better it all gets. But, from the charts I've seen, this month might start out okay, it just sort of goes down hill from there. No sooner does Venus get ramped back up to speed then Mars starts going backwards. To make this a little worse, there's a pattern here: Mars will be opposite Mercury, already slowing down in Gemini, at the end of the month. Saturn and Jupiter are both in Gemini, and both of them are working on the Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) with strange affectations. A little peace making is in order this month, one way or another. And while your school calendar might vary some from this idea, there is still a sense that you've got some kind of big exam coming up, and you are going to feel horribly under prepared for this test. Bizarre looking puppies come up to you on the street, waiting for you to take them home. I've got one friend, with a cat door on her trailer, and her neighbor's kitten came in, made itself right at home, and was quietly sleeping on the bed after devouring all the available kitty kibble. See where this is going? Stray animals (or people) are finding their way into your life this month. Do you really want to keep them? That's a good question, and after looking at your chart, I'm not so sure you really want these homeless animals in your own domicile. Might be fun for a bit, but after a while, they seem to eat into an awful lot of your precious resources. Gemini: This is time that's mostly good. It's mostly rather wonderful, but there's going to be a little hiccup or two, and those things always strike at the worst time. I was doing a reading for a particularly leggy blonde, doing my best to be suave and debonair, and what happens? I had a coughing fit, tripping over my words, and the hiccups. I don't think I made very good impression. Likewise, the harder you try to fight this stuff, the worse you look. If you encounter similar problems, start with a single gulp of water. Address the problems one at a time, not all at once. And the harder you try to contain yourself? The worse it gets. Otherwise, things are not really that bad. Just yet. Cancer: My Sister has an annoying habit of getting a hold of my electronic date book device, and then, under the guise of just seeing what I've got on it, she adds in her own dates, like a birthday reminder (I already had that one marked), holiday greetings, and then, she sets this thing to go off at rather inopportune times. Baby sisters do things like this -- at least mine does. During the next month, though, I would take extra precautions to make sure your sister doesn't do something like mine does. Be careful about what plans other people have for you -- and your datebook -- during the coming weeks. Leo: You know, if you just got out more, your mental health would be a little bit better. I know, it's not like there's no activity in your chart, but the kind of activity I'm talking about is socializing. For me, there's a greasy spoon diner around the corner from where I live, and that makes a fine place for getting botulism as well as getting caught up on who is doing what to whom these days. A little gossip, maybe a bowl of chili with a layer of red grease floating on the surface, this is the goal for the month. So I was kidding about the food poisoning, but there is certain amount of happiness that can be derived from going back to old haunts, familiar places, and repeating certain steps that all brings about a degree of calm. And I still think the chili idea is pretty good. Virgo: Got some shake-ups coming along on the home front. This isn't all bad, in fact, I've found when I rearrange the furniture for better "Fang Sway" energy, I've discovered there are nooks and crannies that need to be cleaned. You would never guess how much cat fur gets stuck under my couch, and it's only been in that position for, like, about four years now. Likewise, you've got something coming back from about two years ago, and it's back to haunt you. It's like this credit card bill I discovered, buried in that cat fur. I knew I needed to pay it, but the cat carried off the bill to play with and left it all buried, under that couch. So a little bit of judicious work can help you figure out what's been left alone for two years, and what needs to be dealt with this time. My spring cleaning tip? High pressure air hose, just dust the place with one, good blast of air. Libra: You will probably, at one point in the next 30 days, you're going to question what I suggest as a your theme. But then, if you wait it out, then you'll find that there was some meaning to this theme: romance. It's good, it's bad, it's good again. Now, in the case of Pa Wetzel, he gets a little distraught when Ma Wetzel has a business trip that takes her someplace where he isn't. As supportive family member, I get the lonesome phone calls, that generally start out, "Well, your mother has abandoned me again...." Scorpio: If I was better at financial astrology, I would've bought when it was low, and sold when it was high, and I wouldn't be traipsing halfway around the country in order to meet and greet people, to earn my income. I got about half the calls I made on stock tips come through on the money. The other half, I lost about everything I gained on the one half, so it wasn't that much. Next time, I think I'll just take some money and go to Las Vegas. Or, better yet, I'll just take half the cash and set it on fire. So when it comes to giving you a good tip on what to do with your money, maybe I'm not the best guide. I could try and guide your money into my pocket, but that might be a little unrealistic. So watch yourself right now. Maybe don't take too many astrological tips about what to do with your cash -- maybe you should just trust yourself for now. Sagittarius: I got to play my favorite role -- Southern Preacher -- not long ago. It wasn't really in a movie, it was just in a cameo appearance for some friends. But I did get to carry on like I am wont to do, a little preaching, a little Bible thumping, a little driving out of the devil, you know the routine. I get pretty good at it because I get carried away. And that's what we all need to watch out for these days, in Sagittarius. While I amuse myself (and apparently a roomful of other people) with my preaching, it doesn't mean that it's the best thing to do. As long as Mars is backing up over us, maybe holding forth, Southern Preacher Style, isn't the best idea. Can a I get a "hallelujah" with that? Capricorn: Mars gets so close, and yet he doesn't quite get right up and in your face. This sets up a strange dynamic for the next few weeks. Now, this changes, almost all the time, but there is a sense, a feeling, an emotional covering, to everything where it feels like that there is a secret society having a meeting, and these folks are deciding the Capricorn fate -- only you weren't included in on the meeting. Now, this is just a sense, sort of like a hint. No one is really doing this to you. No one is out to get you. No one is really trying to prevent or hinder your advancement right now. But there is a sense that there is something going on. Don't worry about it. If you can't actually see it, if you can't actually put your hands on it, then it doesn't require your attention this month. Aquarius: I like asking strange questions of strange people when I'm in strange places. In doing so, I find out about all sorts of useless trivia. I asked one guy about roller coasters, and he pointed out the big debate is whether the best ride is in the front or the back of the long string of cars. Now, the younger, more exuberant Aquarius will want to ride in the front this month. The wiser, and ultimately more thrill-seeking, Aquarius will want to ride in the back. Just when you crest the hill, the topmost part of the track, the front car is still going kind of slow, but by the time the front starts to roll slowly downhill, the back part gets a little whiplash effect, and it makes the ride more enjoyable. Roller coasters might not actually be in your month, but the ride might very well feel like one, and you can decide which place is more fun, sitting in the front or sitting in the back. Pisces: Mars is a funny old planet, as planets go, but at this point, you're somewhat less inclined to consider it a funny planet because of the relative motion of its orbit and what this means to you. By the end of the month, Mars is sliding backwards and just generally tearing some things up. This isn't all bad, you know, but it isn't the best of possible situations, either. As you encounter one or more scenarios that Mars backs over, consider how to deal with this best. Stomp your pretty Pisces feet and make a scene? That's not really a good idea, as Mars will tend to make your temper appear greater than it is. Other options? State your case, plainly, simply, and let the folks on the other end deal with it as they see fit. Not getting too upset is one of the best ideas for the next 6 weeks. (Looks good on paper, anyway.) *************** June Forecast *************** for the month of: 6/2001 "What's done cannot be undone." Shakespeare's Scottish Play [V.i.71] Astrological overview: Instead of weighty, bad news, let me be blunt. Two retrogrades of note: Mars (in Sagittarius, thank you very much) and Mercury (in Gemini -- opposite that Mars). The two planets have a mean old dance number going, and the rest of us just have to do our best with what's coming along down the old turnpike of life. Going to be a weird month, that's for sure. http://astronet.women.com/ast/horoscopes/00kram11.htm Aries: Mars being backwards isn't such a big deal. Summer solstice coming up. Again, no big deal. Mercury going backwards in Gemini. For the third time, no big deal. But the little deal with Mars being the sign opposite the sign Mercury is in, and the way all of this plays out, it's not that nice of a scene. It's not all okay, even though I would wish it to be. There are no big, catastrophic events that you've got to watch out for. There are any number of minor complaints, which, if you stack them all up in one spot, look pretty big. The minor upsets come in triplets right now, not pairs, nor do they manage to arrive in singular. The best idea is to be prepared as it will get stranger. Not necessarily bad, just weird. Taurus: So the only problem right now has to do with your significant other. They don't seem to understand. In fact, you're going to spend a better portion of this month trying to get your message across to an unsympathetic audience. Couple of different ways to go about trying to work with this hostile listening crowd. Try to be concise. Try to work directly from your notes. And maybe, just this once, try to stay on track. Even when a question from the back of the room threatens to derail your message, do yourself a favor, check your notes, then stick to the topic. Next month, you'll be able to say, "I told you so," but only if you did cover that ground this month. Gemini: I have yet to find a small problem that a good Gemini couldn't turn into a huge problem. In fact, if you worry with a small problem long enough, you can have it all unravel just like a sweater I used to own. The cat discovered that the sweater was really nice for clawing, then she discovered it was really nice for playing with, then she discovered it was great for dragging all over the trailer. There's not much left but some yarn and cat fur. Problem? Only if I let it get to me. Solution? Don't let it bother me, and the next time I buy a fuzzy sweater, I'll remember to hang it up so the cat can't shred it, too. Surprised her -- I learned from mistakes. (You can, too.) Cancer: In as much as I detest even thinking about work, much less actually doing anything remotely associated with work, I would be untrue to my craft if I didn't warn you a little bit about this work stuff. There's a single, lonely project you've toyed with, and it's back to haunt you. Maybe haunt doesn't have the right connotation, but that's the idea, like an idea that floats just outside of the periphery of your vision. You can almost lay your hands upon it, you can almost see it, but not quite. Close, around here, is sometimes good enough. The worst of the Mars/Mercury stuff clears up after the Sun moves into your sign, so the Cancer b-days are looking okay. Leo: For once, just for this once, the whole Mercury and Mars (and Sun and Moon, and whatever else you want to toss into the chili mix) of a month is going to slide right by your Leo self. Not much to worry about. That being said, you know who is going to send me a reply with a long list of things to worry about. However, if your good Leo self will just check that list of problems, you'll find that all the hassles are resulting from some other person. None of this is really your problem. It is our problem, though, and we're surely going to try to make it your problem. So as the month slides by, and as folks bring you stuff that begs for assistance, think twice before you jump in the help someone. Virgo: There are only two problem areas you've got: communication and romance. The communication problems can be traced back to Mercury's errant ways, and the forward momentum problem can be attributed to Mars. Now, what are you going to do with this? When you are face to face with almost certain failure, don't panic, don't worry, and don't freak out. A little panic stricken screaming is always called for, but there's no reason to make this a month long ordeal. Scream once, as the occasion calls for, then get on with what you've got to do in order to make everything better in your own world. Don't worry about the rest of us. We'll manage some how. Libra: There's a fair degree of discontent floating around, and the economic indicators all seem to be headed right down the old tubes, if you know what I mean. and it's not like we haven't ever seen this before. You can't say you were caught unaware, not if you're loyal reader of these scopes. So you're going to do okay under this weird month's strange and timorous influence. You'll watch as your buddies and cohorts, significant other, and whoever else is out there, you'll watch while they all jump into the battle. Do battle yourself? Remember that Mars thing, and maybe, do your best to avoid the confrontations this month. Scorpio: Ma Wetzel is a perfect Scorpio, and as such, she's all in dither about the Mars and Mercury thing. She's letting it get to her, as the case is best stated. And she really shouldn't. For that matter, just about every Scorpio I've encountered in the last month or so seems to be acting much the same way, it's like little itty bitty Texas Twister (tornado) in one of my coffee cups. To be sure, my coffee cups hold a lot more (15 ounces) than the usual tea cup, so this is a slightly localized version, a Texas Tempest in a Teacup. The deal is, a lot of this is not worth getting worked up about. Take a big, long swig off that problematic coffee mug, and see if that doesn't settle some the problems. Sagittarius: if anyone has a right to be upset, it should be me. But I've been watching, waiting, and biding my time with this one. I was careful. I remember what I wrote about, about six months ago. I sometimes even follow my own advice. But don't tell anyone. Patience is the watchword for this month. There are going to be a lot of people lined up to see you, and they all want something for free. Free is good. We like doing things for free. But free might not be the best idea for your (our) own Sagittarius well-being right now. So be patient. It's going to happen, but the best thing to do, is to slow down. Capricorn: Summer time reminds me that it's time for a vacation. I hope you've got a good one planned. You deserve a rest and a break. I was hoping it would be just you and me, out by the lake, or by the pool in the backyard, not doing a lot of anything, maybe just having a few cool libations, but it looks like the frantic work thing is kicking us both around right now. If you can just maintain a little longer, just a bit, then it does get a lot better. Shortly. Very soon. Maybe not right now, but soon enough. Aquarius: What strange times we all live in. Right? Work with me on this one, it's a bit of an extended analogy, it's like the sky is falling all around you, but due to some twist of fate, you're not affected by the bad things happening to bad people. Doesn't mean that you escape all the gnarly stuff going on; however, you do get a chance to get away completely, entirely, and without any ramifications, scot free with something you're up to. The only problem, you knew there would be hitch, and don't roll your eyes at me that way, the single sticking point this month is what you thought you would get away with, and what you actually get away with are two different things. *************** July Forecast *************** Astrological overview: Mars gets the most press right now. He's going to correct his path, and relative to planet Earth, he's going to start moving in a more orderly direction. I mean, Mars doesn't really go backwards in his orbit, it just looks that way. Likewise, he doesn't really start going forward, but as a welcome relief, it looks that way. The first two weeks of the month are rough. Not necessarily "bad" rough, just not as easy as we would all like. And before anyone else starts to complain, let me remind you that I am Sagittarius, and this hits me a lot worse than it hits you. [A little sympathy -- or money -- is the best way to show you care.] Aries: The relative direction of Mars is like an afterburner on a jet plane. You've been cruising along, maybe even stalled once or twice, and you're ready for those burners to kick in. You and me both. They do kick in, about the third week of July. Now, if this catches you unaware, what happens is you develop a little bit of metaphorical whiplash. Don't let that happen. Keep your wits about you, and be ready for this good stuff, just as soon as it hits. Going to be a great finish to a time that started out "not so well." Taurus: July 4th is not the exact date, but at one point, during the coming month, you come shooting out of the tube like a firecracker. Someone lit your fuse, and all of a sudden, things start happening at a rapid rate. Couldn't arrive soon enough, and I'm sure you'll agree about that. The trick is, during the first part of the month, you get to decide just exactly which direction you want to launch yourself. You get to point that firecracker, that little rocket ship you're in, you get to choose. Then hold on. Gemini: Relationships, especially of the romantic variety, are all at a critical point. Or rather, you find a portion of this month with your partner, mate, concubine, or, in my case, the cat, staring at you with that look of mild distaste. Seems like the other person's finding fault with everything you do. My cat is easy to please, a little can of tuna fish, and that wipes the look of distaste off her face. You can try the same trick, but I won't promise it works. But you might want to try whatever tricks you usually come up with, and as the month gets longer, it gets a little better. Cancer: Most of the good Cancer birthdays are in July. If I missed your birthday last week, sorry about that. It still looks good, if a tad on the strange side. There's some interesting dynamics, applying pressure to other sensitive spots, but by and large, over here in Cancer, there's a bit of a sunny day going on all month long. Not the best ever, but not bad at all. Enjoy what little relief you feel, and be grateful for the small movements of small planets as this highlights what's going on for you: sometimes, it's not the big actions, but subtle, little ones that matter so much. Leo: Slow down, be careful with fireworks. Matter of fact, let someone else handle the dirty task of igniting the fuses. If you try, especially early in the month, if you try to ignite them fuses yourself, it could go horribly wrong, that is, that firecracker could go off in your Leo face. Sit back, and let someone else tend to the chores, at first. As we get closer to the magical time of Leo, though, there's a positive shift, and you can take a more "hands on" approach then. Virgo: Around the middle of the month, there's a little bump in the road. Personally, I love to hit these bumps at high speed, the suspension (such as it is) bottoms out, the rebound on the shocks is nonexistent, and the truck gets a little air, then bounces on down the road. As long as you don't mind having you innards shaken (not stirred), then you're good to go. Just be aware that this little bump in the road might be a little larger than you think, so use your good judgment -- or bad judgements, such as the case calls for. Libra: That old misnamed figure, "Lady Luck" is a fickle mistress. Oddly enough, she's on your side. That's good. She delivers in strange ways, that's bad. Like the time I didn't win the lottery, it was only $ 4 million. Just enough cash to get in trouble, but not really enough (after taxes) to retire on. Besides, I enjoy what I do, so I can't say I'd give it up. But the next week, I didn't win, either, not even as that jackpot crawled higher. Even if you're counting on a big jackpot, pay attention to getting up and working on the project your boss wants you finish. You can gamble, but keep one hand on the till at work. Scorpio: All I'm going to suggest is that there is one particular ideal, one thing, one mental image you have of yourself, and I'd like to suggest this a good time to overhaul this image. It's a good time to think twice about this little fantasy. It's like this: I used to imagine that I was approximately one inch taller than I am right now. There's one or two tall girls I've dated, and that extra inch of altitude would've helped -- when they wore heels. Now, let's get real, just for a moment, I'm only this tall, tall enough to ride the rides at the State Fair, but that's about it. Instead of wishing for something that just won't happen, use this summer month to get in touch with results you can easily achieve. Or start dating shorter women, like I did. Sagittarius: I have a "summer weight" and a "winter weight." It's odd but the two always seem to reversed of what they should be. I always gain a little extra during the summer, when I don't wear shirts very often, and that extra weight shows. And in the winter, it's just a lot easier to eat more lean stuff. Doesn't make any sense. Now, I know that you're not really worried about your weight like I am, but the Mars thing, the Jupiter thing, and the onset of Leo, late this month, makes it a lot easier to reach our targets. Capricorn: Occasionally, it's okay to glance back over your shoulder to see just exactly how far you've come. Matter of fact, it's usually a good idea to glance back over your shoulder, just to make sure. I was backing a van full of equipment into a spot, here at Shady Acres, and I was doing this in typical fashion: I glanced in the rearview, dropped the van into reverse and gunned the motor. I slammed the van right into a tree branch. [Tree huggers take note: the tree was not harmed.] Other than a dent in the van, there wasn't much damage. A good bumper sticker covered it up. Before you back up this month, though, make a careful assessment of where everything is, then you can proceed. Aquarius: Everyone else is upset. You don't have that problem, unless you're dealing with the rest of us. There's a gentle slide going on, and it's like one of the big slides at the water park, just down the road. Great summer fun. The best part, of course, after a long and hot climb to the top, sliding down, is splashing into the big pool at the bottom. So this is like a gentle slide down, and this is a fun slide, remember? You know what's at the bottom, and a hot summer day in Texas, nothing could be better. Pisces: Little trends are important. And there's this little trend happening in your sign, wonderful Pisces, all month long. This goes against the current economic situation, or the way other folks seem to be feeling, but there's a light and airy sense you get. I know what it's like, it like that first time I get around to turning on the new AC unit here in the trailer, and that (expensive) new AC blasts out a huge volume of cold air. ******************** August Overview ******************** Astrological overview: Mars is finally getting up to speed in Sagittarius, and that's a welcome relief here on the home front -- at least, it's welcome from some of us Sagittarius types. The month also opens with a tumultuous "Saturn oppose Pluto" aspect, but that should resolve itself in a little time. It's Leo, most of this month, and then the incipient stages of Virgo creep into our lives, at the very end of the month. The end of the month also marks a time when you should renew your Texas Fishing License. Aries: There's a long learning curve associated with the way the summer's been going, and the lessons aren't quite done yet. In a traditional school system, this month starts the beginning of the academic year. And while we're not all in a traditional school anymore, it does mark a time when the highest tide has been reached, when the worst of "it" is over, and what that "it" refers to sort of depends on your own chart. But the tides have shifted, and that new beginning is just starting now. It's an easy month, filled with fun things like new school supplies and so forth. Taurus: The way you communicate, how you get your Taurus message across, that comes under fire right now. I saw a perfect bumper sticker that might help you: "Tact is for people not clever enough to be sarcastic." The question being, are you really being clever right now, or is your intended audience getting the wrong ideas from what you're saying? A little more tact, a little more time spent composing what you're trying to get across, that might be time well-spent. That Taurus tongue of yours has so many good possibilities, no need getting it in trouble with what your saying. Gemini: The portion of the sky assigned to Gemini is frankly all over the place. Nothing seems to be very coherent right now, other than this martial tone that sounds a lot like a drum march. It's not a good time for frivolous play. It is a good time to be working a lot. The hot summer months in Texas are not conducive to work. But the conditions in the Gemini chart are suggestive of just such an endeavor. More work, less play (I just lost a good rating with that one), and the pay off is coming, on down the line. Cancer: Grab your wallet or purse, and pull out a credit card, that favorite credit card. Look at the magnetic strip on the back of it. Notice how worn it is? Notice that the striations etched along that strip could very well make it so that strip doesn't work properly? I'd suggest that this is a good time to retire that favorite way of spending money. I'd suggest this is a good time to go real easy on the financial burden you've created. Give your credit card a rest for the month (unless, of course, you're ordering from the astrofish.net web site). Leo: You should be feeling just about as good as it gets before too long. There are bunches of tiny little bumps in the road. Here's the deal: my truck's suspension is long gone. I've got springs, but nothing to balance out that rebound. I could replace the worn out shock absorbers, but that's like, way too much work on a hot summer day. But at just the right speed, even with no shock absorbers, even the worst of the corrugated roads to the lake are smooth. It's all a matter of adjusting your forward pace to accommodate the road conditions. I know you'll get it right before the end of the month. Virgo: The beginning of the month doesn't start out so hot. Or it's hot, but the AC doesn't work right therefore, it's not so cool. But wait, before you get upset with me, let me explain: see -- the month starts out low. But with each passing day, it gets a little bit better, day by day, moment by moment. By the middle of the month, things are looking up. By the end of the month, things are positively glowing in Virgo-land. Take it easy to start with, and then watch as the weeks slide by and just about everything improves. Libra: Attitude is important. I've been accused of "thinking like a fish" and this is not a veiled reference to Pisces, but rather, an occupational attitude that helps a Fishing Guide to the Stars find where the fish are. Warm summer's day -- you're at the lake, pole in hand. Where would the fish be? Think like a fish. You have the oddest luck, and it's around your work place. Belated good news, a few frustrations, and suddenly, you find yourself thinking like the fish. Or whatever your prey may be. Put yourself in your quarry's shoes (or fins), and see if that doesn't help you get from where you're at to where you want to be. Scorpio: Despite a few, ungainly looking things happening in your Scorpio chart, there's a sense of momentum. There's this sense that you can start moving forward. Travel is well aspected right now. Going places and doing things, all of that looks good. No delays, other than the usual ones you've come to expect from the non-Scorpio people in your life. That forward motion you've been missing all summer is finally catching up with your plans, and things are beginning to come together, just like you want them to. Sagittarius: You [we, really] are going to get a rough start to a good month. The rough start is like one of my neighbor's vehicles. See, it's a car that is often times referred to a "classic," which means, parts are hard to find, the idle is a little rough, and the mechanics I know don't really like working on it for a variety or reasons. Plus, that one neighbor is pretty cheap. On some mornings, I can hear the motor in that one car cranking over and over, not starting. That's the start of the month. Eventually, though, that car catches life, and it's a-going. And a classic like? With the windows down on a summer night? What a great way to go cruising. The local Low Riders usually give us the most admiring looks. Cruising by the end of the month, promise. Capricorn: When this happens, like this month, when the Lucky Star (Jupiter) is in the sign opposite you (Cancer), all sorts of people pop up. Unexpectedly. There's a break of sorts, an unusual string of events, that lead to some good things. The deal is, none of this occurs at a sedate pace. None of this occurs slowly, or evenly. Get ready for a weird month. Now here's the kicker: the end of the month? When the Sun moves into Virgo? That's when the really good stuff begins to fall from the skies. It just gets better and better, all month long. Aquarius: I kept promising a lucky break, and I'll promise it again. If I was really smart, I'd look back over my previous prognostications for my favorite Water Bearer sign, and suggest something sage. Instead, I'll just imply a particular employment (income generating) problem is about to be solved. Slow down a little, listen to the voices inside your own head, and see if there isn't a good break coming along. Sorry this has to with work, we'll cover romance next month. Pisces: The beginning of the month has one uncomfortable bump, and the end of the month has a similar effect. Neither one of these intrusions in your wonderful Pisces world should get to you. Neither one of these little problems should get you down. Neither one of these astrological road humps should be that bothersome. But as sure as I suggest otherwise, I can feel the e-mail stacking up, "You didn't tell me it was going to be this bad!" You've got much more smooth water than turbulent seas during the coming month, those two big waves, one at the beginning, one at the end, that shouldn't bother you that much. September Overview Astrological overview: The sun spends most of this month in Virgo, then slides on into Libra, coincidentally, that happens at the same time as the Fall Fashion season is supposed to begin. Been kind of a warm one around here, things might still be a little toasty from the summer still. Early in the month, too, Mars moves from Sagittarius into Capricorn -- a sure sign the Mars woes are over with. Aries: Get the details sorted out ahead of time. Look at the Aries schedule -- it should include at least two fishing trips for this month -- and consider how to realign your work schedule with this recreation plan. I've always supported a local ice cream place and its motto: "Life is short, eat dessert first." Look at your schedule, then plan the fun stuff first. Priorities are important now. Taurus: You wanted a break, it's here. It's up to you take advantage of this little respite. And sometimes, you know, a decent break doesn't look like a break. You've got to be willing to dig a little during the coming weeks. But if you grab that shovel, and turn over a spade full of dirt or two, then look at what's there, you find a night crawler or two. Put that worm on the end of your hook, and then, you can fill in how the rest of the story goes. In order to get there, from here, though, you have to start by grabbing that shovel. Gemini: The point to this month, what stands out in the Gemini chart more than anything else has to do with relationships. I'm not talking about the way you relate to your boss at work. I'm not suggesting this is about those interactions you enjoy with people at the bait store. This is about romance, and its many variations on a theme. Concentrate on the romance stuff. See if there's something your Gemini self can do to be more hospitable. Work that thang. Cancer: Landmarks, things you use to judge how far you have come, and where you stand with respects towards certain goals, landmarks are important. When I'm navigating on the lake, I've found a few points along the shore are useful. What's not useful, is that set of directions I got once, "Remember where Bubba's barn was, before it burned down? That's where you turn." Pick your points with care. Make sure you you use something that is universally recognized. Trying to figure out just how far you've gone, when you have no discernible landmarks isn't the greatest way to navigate. Works for me, but then, I am a professional. Pick something we can all see. Leo: One of the most difficult tasks for a decent Leo, like yourself, to accomplish it to stand idly by, while you let someone else do the dirty work. Here's a hint: Venus spends most of this month in your sign. Let someone else do the dirty work. Sully not your fine, Leo paws with hard work. Let other folks take care of the job of getting dirty. There's no reason for you to worry about this right now. Virgo: Happy birthday, dear Virgo. The deal with birthdays is to make sure that you get someone else to do your hard labor during the coming month. I know that you actually enjoy some of the hard labor yourself, sure, there's something to be said for that. But it's b-day time, and during the first couple of weeks, let some one else do all the heavy lifting, the digging and the trudging. You can always thank us later. Libra: There's always a light at the end of the Libra tunnel. Better news yet, that "light at the end of the tunnel" arrives before the end of this month. Just as soon as we all get out of this uncomfortable little bump at the beginning of the month, you'll notice that certain events gradually start to run in your favor. The less of fuss you create, the better it gets. Scorpio: Ever have one of those months where you feel like you're in a good mood, but everyone you come in contact with is sour? Maybe it's not everyone, but it just feels like there are a lot of people out trying to ruin your infectious good demeanor. No matter what happens, there's always someone who seems to have it out for you. Okay, you've been warned, what are going to do about it? My best suggestion, all month long, greet them with a friendly [slightly sly and wry] Scorpio smile. Makes the other folks a little worried. Or more worried, but that's their problem. Sagittarius: The past always feels like it is a little closer than us Sagittarius types are willing to think about. This month's hint is not to let the past slip away. Capricorn: Mars is activity, and you've been stymied for the last 7 months or so. Over the week it makes a trine to Neptune and also squares Jupiter, so it may help to make sure you don't make any promises you can't keep. November Overview Astrological overview: Mars spends the month in Aquarius, Venus slides around from Libra and works her magic on Scorpio most of the month, and it's basically a Scorpio month, until the tail end -- just in time for the beginning of a personal favorite time: Sagittarius. Aries [3. 21 - 4. 19]: For the longest time, my family had this Thanksgiving tradition of big meal, then a football game, with the appropriate nap in front of said game. While everyone else is napping this month, it's your turn to make that point that just didn't quite get made last month. While other people are in an apparent soporific slumber, consider making your point. You'll be surprised how understanding they are at times like this. Taurus [4. 19 - 5.20]: "Employment" is a dirty word round here. "Paycheck," however, is not so loathed. Maybe my office manager [the cat] is the best source of useful metaphor for the month: her idea of "work" is looking cute. Or demanding food in the morning. It's her job to wake up the household [odd nomenclature for a trailer], and make sure she gets her kibble, first thing. Likewise, your task for the next month is to look cute while motivating the people around you to do what they're supposed to do. Gemini [5.21- 6. 21]: There's a chain of used bookstores in Texas, and I must admit I like the places. The timbre of each location generally reflects the local make-up. The one close to the university offers a lot of old textbooks while one in the upscale neighborhood has a lot of hardback, first-run novels. Just such a place is a suitable refuge for your Gemini self during this month. Books are appealing, but you no sooner pick up one novel, than you're deciding it isn't quite right. Best thing about a used bookstore, is you can "check in" unused texts. The goal for the month, though, is to run dead even with what you're checking in and checking out. Cancer [6. 22 - 7. 22]: Take the month and split it in two. Then, take the first half, and think to yourself, that you look really silly when you talk too much. The second half of the month, all that torrent of words you didn't pour out, that's not so silly. Refine your approach a little, and be prepared to deliver that torrent of words, suitably refined, corrected, spell checked, and cut down in size. Work towards being brief, and you'll thank me later -- hopefully not with one of those long diatribes. Leo [7. 23 - 8. 23]: Don't worry, be happy! "Yeah, right," you might intone with a cynical Leo sneer. But for the next 30 days, or so, things are good, getting better. Except for one little problem. Sooner or later, Mars and the Sun make a little uncomfortable energy. But let's look at the math: 30 days in the time frame, three days of Mars/Sun bad stuff. The overwhelming number is in your favor. Better yet, this "good stuff" just keeps getting better as the month goes sliding by. Except for that three day thing. Sort of depends on the individual chart, but like I've suggested before, the numbers are more in your favor, maybe more so that you realize. Virgo [8. 24 - 9. 22]: Remember how you felt like you were talking in a vacuum last month? Remember how you were right, but no one was listening to your sage advice? We really should compare notes about that one. Anyway, this month, folks are a little more willing to listen. The only trouble with this, however, is that you have this almost overwhelming desire to use a tired expression, "See? I told you so." Don't do it. Find some nice way to suggest that you have previously alluded to this problem and its solution. In other words, don't say, "See? I told you so." If you do choose to use that expression, and it's not met with universal approval, you can't say I didn't warn you? See? I told you so. Libra [9. 23 - 10. 22]: I helped a Libra friend here in Shady Acres pull a motor out of an older vehicle. We tossed that block into the back of the truck and hauled it off to a machinist. And then, we completely forgot about the task at hand. Shady Acres is close enough to everything important in life, i.e., chicken fried steak, fishing, live music, and Bubba's Bait Barn, so it doesn't much matter that the Libra is now without wheels. This is a good time, though, to call up that machinist and see if he's gotten any work done. As much as I hate doing heavy lifting and stuff, it's time to put that motor back into the car, and see if it works right. Scorpio [10. 23 - 11. 22]: Happy birthday to that one, special Scorpio [honey, you know who you are.] The rest of you? Well, I'm trying to be as nice as possible, but there's a little window of time, during the next thirty days or so, and during this one little, window, things ain't going to go smooth. Other than that? It's a good time. Good birthday parties, a somewhat less than subdued atmosphere of pleasure and raucous behavior. Enjoy. However, during that one, tiny window of irritation, the less trouble you create, the less mess you have to clean up later. Sagittarius [11. 22 - 12. 22]: Remember last month when no one was listening to your scintillating words of wisdom? I've got this one reference manual I really like, full of Texas wit and charm, a cowboy's guide to life, so to speak. I tend to refer back to this sort of source when I need something grounded and realistic, maybe a little heavy on the common sense aspect.... That's what's important for the next month, knowing when a quick word to the wise is right. Folks are listening now. Listening to you. Don't get too heavy-handed with the wit. Capricorn [12. 23 - 1. 18]: Dig in at home. Make yourself comfortable. You've been traveling a lot, running around quite a bit, and now is the time, especially in the first part of the month, to make yourself feel like you're at home again. Do something nice for the house. Or do something nice for yourself at home. You're getting the idea, right? Put a fresh set of batteries in the TV's remote, settle in with a nice stack of vids to watch, you know, something a little light on plot on a little heavy on entertainment value. You've earned a break. Aquarius [1. 19 - 2. 18]: I try to get in a substantial hike every day. Exercise, as it were. Now, just last week, I was crossing a busy street, crossing with the light, the little sign was flashing "walk," I had the right away. Some crazy person in an old beater car tried to run me over, oblivious to the fact I had the right of way, or that pedestrians are people, too. Then, not ten minutes later, this happened again, a girl blowing through a yellow light, trying to shave seconds off her time to get home. Two near misses within a ten-minute time made me check my chart. The culprit? Mars. So this month? DECEMBER OVERWIEW "Distribution should undo excess, And each man have enough." Shakespeare's King Lear [IV.i.72] Astrological overview: Mars goes into Pisces this month, and there's a pair of eclipses, too. For us Sagittarius types, and by extension, all the mutable signs [Gemini - Virgo - Sagittarius - Pisces], the first eclipse will have a little ripple in a our smooth sailing for the holidays. Then, just in time for New Year's Eve, there's another eclipse thing, sort of wrapping up the year. But what's it all mean? Aries: Slow down, take a deep breath. How's that jingle go, about "Checking his list twice?" That's the right idea. I know you've been a good Aries, but there's a still a hint that something feels like it's missing. It's time for a quick review of certain events from the last year, and do this real Aries-like: quick. None of the last year requires an in-depth analysis, but there's a hint, a suggestion, some hidden information that is worth going back over. Check your list of projects, maybe consider putting that outboard motor back together, the one you started to take apart last year. Taurus: You can turn your wonderful, Taurus attention to whatever it is that matters to you the most. That old relationship arena looks like it's heating up just fine. Now, I'm of a mind to suggest that relationships are a lot like beef brisket. Slow-cooked, take your time, let that thing simmer on the coals of the BBQ pit of love for as long as you can stand it. The pervasive aroma fills the house. It sure is tempting right now. But the best BBQ cooks know, the longer you let that simmer, the better it gets. Gemini: Mars goes from being nice to you to a place where he's more direct in his actions. I'd watch out for outright confrontations during the latter part of the month. No need to ruin a good holiday period with a stupid little spat. No need to let old family baggage cause new problems. It's just Mars, not your Mom, pushing the buttons. Cancer: Before the end of this calendar year, there will be a moment of triumph for Cancer. That's just pretty simple. No two ways about it. Some issue, some problem, something you've been fretting over for the past few weeks, months, even for a year or more, that's coming full circle. Finally. Unfurl that brow. Leo: Family and friends, the holidays, the good little things that happen. All the stuff going on, it happens all around you, but none of it should land in your own, Leo, backyard. And should something that you don't want land there? Ignore it. It's really that simple. This is supposed to be a relatively good time, so why not make the most of what you got, enjoy the holidays, and have a little fun? That's what works best. Virgo: When I was a mere lad, my dear, sweet mother used to implore me to take part of my Xmas holiday time, and deliver her packages around the neighborhood. You're stuck with a similar task, for most of the month. In part, this can be fun. You get to see old friends, and there's always a dear, sweet, kindly soul who invites you in for tea and cookies. Then there's the problem with your own schedule, too. There might be other tasks you'd rather be working on. Do the nice thing, after all, it is the holidays, and somebody's got to deliver those packages. Libra: Holidays, families, parties, and the general tone of the times seems to be what everyone else is thinking about. Let's get you to spend as much of your attention as possible working on work. I know this will not meet with any universal acclaim, but there's a heavenly hint that work is important, you've got something you've been toiling away at for a wile, and you can wrap it up now. Scorpio: The month builds with this slow rise, this almost imperceptible forward motion where it feels like everything is getting a little better, moment by moment. Doesn't happen all at once, and the first week of December might not be the best time to be out buying gifts. But as the holiday gets closer and closer, that infectious holiday spirit seems to take over the Scorpio psyche, and the good times have arrived. Sagittarius: Venus is around for the largest part of this month and that means we're all inclined to be a little more indulgent than usual. Instead of arguing with this sort of indulgence, why not go ahead and embrace it? Good times, with a little bit of unsettling turbulence, but basically, a good time all the way around is what's in store. The little eclipse action shakes things up some, but nothing really gets shook loose, not yet. Capricorn: I like working backwards on a scope. So let's start at the end of the month. It's like fireworks, in a big way, what with the eclipse action and all. Venus figures in the that stew, too, so it's probably a romantic sendoff to the year. Then, the middle of the month is quiet. Finally, the beginning of the month finds you with lots of vitality, but not a lot of get up and go. You have the desire to go, just, well, some days, you just can't be bothered. Aquarius: I've been in this business long enough to understand human nature, and that's what seems to be your focus now. It has less to do with the planets, and more to do with the fact that holidays are approaching, and it's been such an unusual year so far. As soon as Mars swings out of your sign, though, there will be a collective sigh of relief from my Aquarius friends. That's the good news. The holiday panic, though should set in right after you heave that big sigh -- but you can deal with the mild hysteria. Pisces: Between the first of the Sagittarius eclipses, and Mars, all of ya'll are just worked up. This doesn't mean it's bad, it just means you have a an extra dose of Xmas spirit, or you're more than ready for lots of holiday parties, or some similar feeling. This is good, the trick is to make sure you fill up your schedule with activities. Yes, shopping is just such an activity.
