This system is the same one that was invented by ralf@well.com and is being run by Michael R. Walsh (mrw@well.com). This will make it more interesting to have two communities running the same system. The football pool has been a real popular topic on the Spring for the last couple of years, this should make it even more interesting!

Actually we get our 7500 virtual dollars when we post our first bets. I'll be posting more details when I find out from ralf and from Michael Walsh on the WELL. By the way, Michael says don't give him any credit for inventing this, he's the current scorekeeper. It will be interesting to see how WELL vs. Spring comes out overall and on a per player average. A few tips and clarifications of how this works. I'm quoting liberally from mrw on these. You can post as many bets as you like, as long as you have that many virtual dollars in your account. You can make bets on games right up through kickoff of the game concerned. If you accidentally bet more than you have, we just zero out the bets in reverse order until the total bets outstanding are equal to your current account. Bets are considered paid as of the game's completion, though I don't promise to repost standings immediately after games except when the week's action is done. (sometimes i'll post intermediate results, when time permits.) If, for example, you want to use Thursday's winnings to bet in sunday's games, be my guest. Just make sure you have it. On normal weekends i square the accounts after each day of play or at least I'll try. Till we get a volunteer stats person. It's easy to cancel a bet. Just bet the same amount on the opposing team.
