I was searching on the word "hurt" in the Middlemarch document at U of Virginia (see link on the conference front page) and found a number of other things I'd forgotten about.

Refers to Sir Chetham's recover over the loss of D as a possible mate and his quick transition to Celia. He still cares about her all the way through the book, though, I think, though he realizes Celia is better suited to him.
