This is *not* a Stroud review, this is from the marketing spiel at
http://www.netscape.com/comprod/products/navigator/version_3.0/cooltalk/index.html
CoolTalk is an Internet telephone tool included with Netscape Navigator
3.0 that provides high-quality audio conferencing, a full-featured
whiteboard, and text-based communications using the chat tool. With
CoolTalk you can now talk and work
collaboratively with friends and colleagues anywhere in the world via the
Internet. And since CoolTalk works seamlessly with Navigator 3.0, you can
send and receive calls directly from any Web page. CoolTalk features
include:
Audio conferencing - Talk "live" with friends and associates across the
Internet with full duplex sound so that you can speak and be heard
simultaneously. It's as easy to use as a phone, but without any
expensive long-distance charges. CoolTalk includes a speed dialer,
Caller ID functionality, call screening, and mute buttons.
High-quality audio - Multiple compression formats enable low-bandwidth
operation, while letting users with faster network and high-speed modem
connections take advantage of the highest audio quality.
CoolTalk Phonebook - A Web-based phonebook makes it easy to locate other
CoolTalk users.
Answering machine - CoolTalk's answering machine records messages and caller
information while you're away.
Shared Whiteboard - While you talk with a colleague via CoolTalk, you
can both be viewing the same graphic image and editing it in real time with a full
range of drawing, zoom, and markup tools. Import, save, and print TIFF,
GIF, JPEG, BMP, EPS, TARGA, RASTER, and SGI files.
Chat tool - This text-based tool lets you send and receive typed
messages, as well as entire text files, while using CoolTalk.
Setup Wizard - Get up and running fast thanks to CoolTalk's interactive
Setup Wizard and online Help.
Dial-up IP support - Full support for both dynamic and static IP
connections through dial-up PPP and SLIP connections.
Multimedia-enabled - CoolTalk and its technology will serve as the basis
for upcoming LiveMedia applications that will be based on the RTP standard.
Multiplatform-ready - CoolTalk is available with Navigator 3.0 for
Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 3.1, SunOS, Solaris, HP-UX, Digital Unix,
and IRIX. Versions for Macintosh and additional Unix platforms will be
available soon.

I've got static ip or fixed ip or whatever. And I leave this workstation on
24 hours a day. Unfortunately, actually fortunately, I don't sit in front
of it 24 hours a day. But I have my cooltalk answering machine on it
turned on and I have several messages on it already. What's *cool* is
that you can click on the message and dial the person back. Fun stuff!
My ip address - if you want to ring me up on cooltalk - is 207.101.72.3
