WebAgent and SuperBookMarks -- WebAgent is a web assistant similar to Surfbot, WebWatch, and WebWhacker that will periodically check a collection of URLs to determine which web sites have recently moved or changed. This automatic process saves you the time of manually checking your favorite web sites each day to see if any new information has been posted. For example, you can have WebAgent check ESPNet SportsZone each day to see if anything new is going on in the sports world or you can have it scan The CWSApps List for the latest updates. This handy utility works with Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator to let you view any pages that have new information. WebAgent has a integrated scheduler to help you determine how often to check pages for new information. In addition to single page downloads, WebAgent will also allow you to download entire sites and external links. While apps like Surfbot and WebWhacker may be easier to use and slightly more powerful, WebAgent does offer a solid selection of features at a reasonable price. Its companion utility, SuperBookMarks doesn't fare quite as well. SuperBookMarks functions similarly to the bookmark managers found in most web browsers (Internet Explorer and Netscape, for example), but in most cases the web browsers' bookmark managers are much more powerful and quicker to use than SuperBookMarks. Pros: Easy downloading of your favorite web sites, integrated scheduling utility Cons: Less powerful and intuitive than apps like Surfbot and WebWhacker New: This is the initial review for WebAgent and SuperBookMarks Version Reviewed: 1.07 Date of Review: 7/3/96 Reviewer: Forrest Stroud apps conference Main Menu
