Generation X. Not me. It's about 60s born people. But it's also for those younger and older than them, and those who love and hate them. And for them themselves mostly. I should dedicate this to the memory of the lost springeur, Melissa Petrek, known in the parts in days of yore as suprnaut. One day she got up and married and became Martha Stewart. But she sure did run one helluva genx conference. Any Melissa Petreks out there want to volunteer to host this conference. It doesn't pay much, but the rewards get better if you can get some chemistry going like Melissa did. A moment of silence of the memory of Melissa please.

There were 64 topics in the orginal genx conference. nike was the last person to post there on June 22, 1995. We ran caucus software back then. No web interface. That came later when David Bluestein did a redesign.

I'll be back...
~terry #7
Really, come on back.
~KitchenManager #8
Okay, okay, I'm back... Volunteer number one (interim or permanent or co-)
~KitchenManager #9
host, that is...
~KitchenManager #10
Well, huh, can I, huh huh huh? Oohh, puh-leeease?
~stacey #11
i don't know... can you?
~KitchenManager #12
Do I sense... willingness?
~stacey #13
or do you sense... ... interest? ... coyness? ... silliness? or was that... willingness??? *?*
~KitchenManager #14
My guess would be b and c cause a and d, I believe, are incident specific or at least mood dependant...
~stacey #15
And my guess is that your answers are also 'incident specific or at least mood dependant...' *smile*
~KitchenManager #16
More like incident anticipatory or person dependant...
~stacey #17
there's a pill for that you know. *smile* big hug to you on this bright shiny morning WER!
~KitchenManager #18
Thanks, hon. Got one for you, too...
~stacey #19
thanks. been a pretty good day here. getting another new student (just because 'stability' in a classroom doesn't make sense to the district)
~KitchenManager #20
How's school, teach?
~stacey #21
going alright. More crazy stuff regarding the student situation I 'vented' about before. He's okay now but Mom is in jail for child abuse and abandonment as well as drug abuse. And he's in another shelter.
~KitchenManager #22
Wish I could smack her around for ya. My best to him, and strength to you.
~Wolf #23
God, I'm sorry Stacey. How is he doing through all this?
~stacey #24
he's one heck of a kid. resilient, strong and usually very upbeat. He doesn't keep things in and so we've been able to talk a lot about conflicting emotions (loving Mom/hating the things she's done) which help keep him from having festering feelings. If my own life were more stable (financially and otherwise) I'd certainly put my name on the foster parent list!
~Wolf #25
don't blame ya there...sounds like a good kid, glad he is able to talk about it...
~autumn #26
Even without being a foster parent, you are still making a huge difference in those kids' lives...
~stacey #27
they bring an awful lot to mine as well!
~riette #28
How old is the spring?
~terry #29
Conceptually, going on 10 years. ON the net, going on 5 years. March 21, 1999 will be our 10th anniversery from the point of conception and the fifth anniversery of going on the Internet. We started out as a telnet service. Our web anniversery will be the 4th year on March 21, 1999.
~riette #30
That's amazing! Is there going to be a party? Because that date sounds pretty free and possible to me . . .
~terry #31
I think we should have a *major* party for our tenth anniversery.
~riette #32
Great! I MUST make it this time! Mike, how does March sound to you?
~terry #33
You must!
~riette #34
And I will. I really hope the others will come too.
~stacey #35
all going as planned... I shall be in Berlin on March 21, 1999
~terry #36
What's going on there?
~stacey #37
Acoustical Society of America meeting... I'm tagging along!
~riette #38
I knew it! I'll be going to America, and you will all end up in Germany or Switzerland on that precise date!
~KitchenManager #39
not me, I'm pretty much stuck where I am...
~riette #40
At least I'll eat well - which would more that compensate for my loneliness.
~stacey #41
try the tiramisu!
~KitchenManager #42
just make sure I'm at work before you come by...
~stacey #43
Yeah... I blew that one. Sorry.
~KitchenManager #44
no need to apologize, oh passing ship...
~stacey #45
oh... Frigate!
~KitchenManager #46
ever notice how that word is startling close to frigid?
~PT #47
Did you notice she named the most powerful ship that is allowed to travel solo.
~stacey #48
semantics semantics... go ahead, just TRY and put meaning into my words!
~PT #49
Are you trying to say that your words are meaningless?
~jgross #50
her ship is midnight blue and it blew right by.... the water is so cold now it's like frigid or something....
~stacey #51
*laugh* Jim, that had just as much meaning as that flyer that froze to the windshield of my car this morning... tres poingant!
~KitchenManager #52
and why didn't you post said flyer on here, Stace?
~KitchenManager #53
oh, well...
~stacey #54
oh well what??? (throw be a bone, I'm telnetting)
~wer #55
the flyer on your car, why you no post so all of us could share?
~stacey #56
methinks you must be referring to the church post bazaar sale flyer that got all stuck in my windshield with the wet snow...
~KitchenManager #57
probably
~KitchenManager #58
but then again...
