I have watched my first LA screening, and ask ( beg/plead/grovel ) if I can please have Jamie's car. The one in which he's glad and she's sad. Okay, here is my little offering: Long ago I've gently requested The LA lake sweater to me be entrusted. For it seemed to hold the promise, To be somewhat thrown amiss. Indeed now that the movie Has reached the boonie I can confirm the sighting Of sweater-less swimming He braved the chills And even the eels But showed great care Towards my beloved sweat-air! Enough already! Although one wondered who truly braved the chills. It was -15F when I went opening weekend, and I haven't been back due to -30sF temperatures. Although, cabin fever forces you to become a silly poet! (silver lining) :)

The owner of this hand slowly began to browse the contents of the closet, scrutinizing each item with care. There was a definite, deliberate feeling to his actions. Mark stepped in closer to get a better view, his fingertips lingering for a moment on a dark pinstriped suit. He smiled, an impish, naughty sort of grin played around the corners of his mouth, as he recalled something. **Ah, yes . . .take the suit . . .take the suit . . .then take me!!!!!** The power of suggestion, perhaps? Who knows . . .but somehow it worked it�s magic. The suit left the closet along with its usual partner of a shirt, white and crisply starched to attention. And then for our exiled comrade - liberation from the eternal Christmas monotony! The period of hibernation was finally over. The items of clothing were laid carefully on the bed as Mark proceeded to get ready for the evening. **Thought I�d never get out of there! Humph, can�t say why I was taken out of the normal rotation and stuck back there in the first place. Just be happy it wasn�t you in my place. Believe me, after the three hundred and fortieth time of hearing �Ding Dong Merrily On High� hummed off-key, you�d be going stark raving mad and pulling your fibers out by their roots too. Nice to see you chaps again, though. Any idea where we�re off to this evening? ** Mark pulled the suit jacket over his shoulders. He surveyed his image in the mirror meticulously. Then, lost in thought for a moment, he took the tie, its cool silk trickling though his long fingers, and smiled again. �I think Bridge will approve.� Mark murmured as he deftly fixed the tie in place. He ran his fingers slowly through his dark curly hair as he gave himself on final look before he left his room. �Yes, I think she will definitely approve.� **Bridge??? What a wretched night for the poor boy . . .I recall an odd smell of orange marmalade, eggs and a curious vision, a soup, which I swear, was blue. Then that other fellow came and made a mess of it all. Next thing I knew, I found myself face down in a plate of souvlaki (I think I still have a stain or two somewhere on me from that nasty chap) and then after a brief sensation of flight, I was dragged along a wet cold pavement. And even after all that he STILL ended up with the girl??? Good show!!** Mark rang the buzzer to Bridget�s flat, balancing an extremely large bouquet of roses, a box of Milk Tray and a bottle of Chardonnay tentatively. �Yes . . .� Bridget�s voice crackled over the speaker. �Let me up Bridge, before I drop something.� �Mark? What are you doing here?� she asked curiously. �It�s your birthday, darling . . .� �But the party is tomorrow, you know that . . .at 192 with Shaz . . � �And Jude and Tom and EVERYONE. Look, I know that . . .� Mark tried hard not to sound exasperated. �But. . .� �No buts. . . hang up the phone and hit the buzzer, Bridge!� **Hmm . . . perhaps it would have been better if I stayed back with the Christmas contingency in the closet. If these two are already snippy with each other, I rather listen to the millionth bad rendition of �Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire� than hear these two argue all night . . .this will not make for a good evening.** As Bridget opened the door, she came face to face with the largest bouquet of long stemmed red roses she had ever received. They actually took up most of the doorway. �Mark?� she giggled, �Mark, are you under all that foliage somewhere?� �Of course I am.� He lowered the bouquet so she could only see his eyes. They twinkled happily, liquid brown. Bridget�s knees went a little weak. She always felt like she could drown in those eyes of his, especially when he stared at her like that. �Here, could you give me a hand with this?� He handed over the flowers. �Careful, it not as easy to carry them as it looks.� He admitted as he followed her up her stairs. Bridget managed to get them over to a clear place on the dining room table. �Goodness, Mark, you shouldn�t have . . .though they are very beautiful.� She leaned in to inhale their scent. The soft perfume from the roses made her feel heady, giddy. Suddenly their fragrance was mingled with a rich, spicy, woodsy scent. It was musky, undeniably masculine � undeniably Mark. �They smell divine.� Bridget whispered. He had quietly come up behind her. �So . . .do . . .you . . .� Mark punctuated each word with a gentle kiss: one just behind her ear, one in the curve of her neck and final lingering one on the base her of neck. Bridget held on to the edge of the table. She was sure that if she let go of it she would collapse in a heap at Mark�s feet. Where did her knees go? �I want to wish my girlfriend a very . . .happy. . . birthday. . .� (This time the kisses trailed from the base of her neck back up to her ear) Bridget closed her eyes and sighed happily as she felt his warm lips take their journey upward. �I want to wish her a happy birthday . . .on her actual birthday. Just the two of us.� His deep, posh voice caressed those final words seductively. **Good Boy! NO fighting now. . . just go kiss her properly!** Bridget turned around, smiling. Mark looked utterly dashing in his pinstriped suit. He took her breath away. She stopped for a moment as she realized: �Mark, you do know that you wore that . . .� she started. �On your last birthday, I know.� He smiled that impish grin again as he pulled her close. �I remember. I caused a bit of trouble that last celebration.� A mock hangdog expression graced his features. �I would like to make up for it, Ms. Jones. . . if I may.� Bridget, who was playfully twisting his tie in her hands, used it to pull Mark even closer. �Oh yes, Mr. Darcy . . please do make it up to me.� She leaned in for a kiss, her hands reaching up, eager to get her fingers caught up in those dark curls. . . Then the phone rang. **Oh blast . . .don�t pick up!!! . . .don�t pick up!!!!** �No, you don�t.� Mark whispered in her ear. Bridget had tried to make her way to the phone but he was able to catch her from behind, encircling her with his arms. He nuzzled her neck to keep her mind occupied. Bridget, however, kept eyeing the phone. �But. . .� �Bridget Jones . . .� Mark kissed her tenderly behind her ear again, �the world can do without you for one evening.� His voice was firm, commanding . .and oh dear, he hit that spot again on her neck. Bridget was jelly in his arms. Mark turned her around and kissed her long and lingering. He led her to the other room and leaned over and turned the phone�s ringer off. Then he went to Bridget�s purse, turned off her mobile as well. �You are incommunicado, Ms. Jones. Do you hear me?� He took off his suit jacket and threw it on the couch. Bridget loosened his tie and slipped it over his head. �Well, if you say so, Mr. Darcy. I guess I�m all yours . . .� she smiled, while lightly tracing his strong jawline with her fingertip. �Indeed, Ms. Jones . . .� She watched as he crossed her wrists and slid the loop of his tie over them. A little devilish twinkle appeared in his eyes. �Seems like you�re my prisoner this evening, whether you like it or not.� He playfully tightened the loop around her wrists as he kissed her and led her toward the bedroom. . .
