(touchy, touchy)
i believe both neil sedaka and carole king (brill bldg. denizens, each), derived from brooklyn... and i know that both arlo guthrie and ramblin' jack elliot (the last of the brooklyn cowboys, you know) did...
(you must admit, though, that neil does seem a little tall for that original line-up...)

I only know one Neil Sedaka song. I am loath to say what it is, or who I heard singing it, for fear of having my taste in music lambasted again.
I will, however, be courageous enough to profess ignorance of Carole King and Ramblin' Jack Elliot.
I guess Arlo Guthrie isn't an Okie like his father. Didn't know that.

Sam, I feel pity on the Carole King front. You? Unaware of Ms. King? And you call yourself a Neil Diamond fan?!?!?
Trust me, you at least know her songs... "You make me feel like a nat--u--ral woman," "I feel the earth move... under my feet. I feel the sky tumblin' down," "my life has been a tapestry..."
d'ya feel it, man?

"will you still love me (tomorrow)"; "one fine day"; "he's so fine"; "the locomotion"; "up on the roof"; "some kind of wonderful"; "take good care of my baby"; and, of course, "it's too late", and "you've got a friend"...
(she's terrific)

"You make me feel like a nat--u--ral woman,"
Excuse me while I gag.
"I feel the
earth move... under my feet. I feel the sky tumblin' down,"
One really should stay away from construction sites...(don't know that one)
"my life has been a tapestry..."
Now you're really unravelling! (don't know this one either)
will you still love me (tomorrow)";
Who said I loved you now? (wish I didn't know this one, then again, no; if I didn't know it I might try listening to it)
"one fine day";
Don't know this one either.
"he's so fine"
I heard this once. How did George Harrison think he would get away with stealing the tune?
; "the locomotion";
really useless.
"up on the roof";
Cool Drifters song! Finally one I know & like!
"some kind of wonderful"
I don't have any Drifters albums, otherwise I'd know her name from the credits! Two! Two good songs! Ah Ah Aaah!;
"take good care of my baby";
don't know this.
and, of course, "it's too late",
Liked Billy Paul's version...
and "you've got a friend"...
again I don't know this one.
Sounds interesting!

O.K., if you live in or around D.C., could you do me a favour?
Please call a D.C. radio station, request the song America by Neil Diamond, and dedicate it to Jesse Helms? I want to give that man nightmares; that should do it!
"They're coming to America,
They're coming to America,
They're coming,
They're coming,
They're coming,
They're coming,
TODAY!!!"
That'd really give 'im some cold sweats!
