This is one of the best live-acts I've ever seen (if not the very best)! They come from the Portland, Oregon area and are like a natural force on stage. Fred Cole (vocals, guitar), Toody Cole (bass, vocals) and Andrew Loomis (drums) achieve things many other musicians can only dream of. When they go on stage, there is a strong energy around them, that carries them and their audience through up to 3 1/2 hour gigs! This is what Rock 'n' Roll is about!

When I was shopping for records in Hamburg, I picked up their double-LP live album "Live eviL" (the real thing, of course: vinyl) at Concorde. I only had this one on a tape my friend Frank Schne did for me sometime 1992 or 1993, I think. Wonder where he is now... This is really great rock 'n' roll stuff from early nineties (many releases since then, last live one: "Hard wired in Ljublana" with great multimedia footage!); Dead Moon play mid-sized clubs and festivals all over Europe. Every Summer, they pack their kit, cross the water and tour through about 45 to 55 cities, from way north to way south. Whereever they play, they leave an amazed audience. Their rock is something wild, coming all the way from the sixties garage rock scenes, where Fred was already involved in... It's got a nice dose of punk attitude, mellowed down with country feel (Fred likes Johnny Cash and Hank Wiliams a lot). If you think the early Stones were great, but later sucked, or if you liked AC/DC with Bon Scott, but hated their later postures, then this is it for you. Great Cash- and Elvis-Covers, too! Totally different, but lots of heart and soul. Should they ever come to a stage near you, attend. Don't say I didn't tell you. (Records out on Tombstone Rec./=Fred's Label in USA, Europe: Music Maniac)
