Restaurant goer, introduce yourself.
~KitchenManager Wed, Dec 18, 1996 (15:44) #1
Not just a goer, but an employee. Hi, everyone, I'm the kitchen manager of an Italian restaurant here in Austin, 30 years old, and married with two children. Hope to see others here soon, WER
~terry Wed, Dec 18, 1996 (22:53) #2
What are the top 10 Italian restaurants in Austin?
~KitchenManager Fri, Dec 20, 1996 (11:26) #3
Is this a trick question? I'm looking for the web rating now, and will bring back an answer as soon as I can. WER
~terry Fri, Dec 20, 1996 (22:25) #4
No tricks!
~genaXtex Tue, Dec 24, 1996 (13:54) #5
Is BASILS still there...is was my favorite when I lived there?
~terry Tue, Dec 24, 1996 (16:23) #6
You know, I don't know. But I can check. [pops open business pages]: Basil's --- Restaurant 900 W 10th St 78703 477-5576 Sure enough.
~genaXtex Fri, Dec 27, 1996 (15:09) #7
I remember it as being really good northern italian, great service, an "ambiance" kind of place...for a dress-up date. Nice wine, waiters in tux's, etc. They didn't take reservations however (the only bad point I could identify).
~terry Fri, Dec 27, 1996 (22:17) #8
Gena, we're (uh) waiting on KitchenManagers listing of the top ten Italian restaurants in Austin. He may be getting back to us on this and I'm real interested in his rankings. We'll see if Basil's ranks up there with the best. If you make it to Austin again, I'd love to take you out to Basil's.
~KitchenManager Sat, Feb 1, 1997 (13:16) #9
Me, again. Sorry I've been gone so long. Problems have ranged from upgrading to Windows95 at work to three of the wife's friends dying to not being able to log on to some sites. Oh, well. Not quite ten, and each is on for different criteria. If you feel any is in error or that I have left someone off, please respond here or e- mail me and I will compile a new list. In no particular order, the restaurants are: Olive Garden Mezzaluna Maccaroni Grill Mama Mia's Little Italy Carmelo's Brick Oven Sfuzzi Spaghetti Warehouse Hill Country Pasta House Italian Garden I'll be waiting for those responses. WER
~terry Sat, Feb 1, 1997 (14:29) #10
What about ranking them. At first I thought you had Olive Garden at number one. A couple to consider are L'Opera at Lakeline Mall and the Italian restaurant at the corner of Mesa Drive and Spicewood Springs road (the name escapes me, it may even already be on your list). What do you think of the Olive Garden (I like them for their copious bread and salads)?
~KitchenManager Sat, Feb 8, 1997 (14:46) #11
That unknown one at Mesa and Spicewood Springs is Little Italy. As to ranking them, that would be difficult by myself as I work at one of the one's on my list. Be back soon, I gotta run. WER
~terry Sat, Feb 8, 1997 (21:34) #12
Then put it number one or leave it off the list and put an asterisk by it!
~aubrey Wed, Apr 16, 1997 (13:07) #13
Guess I've already covered my opinions on Austin restaurants in the Austin conference. Maybe I just had a bad experience, but I really hate Olive Garden--just smacks of chain restaurant to me (friends rave about the bread but I wasn't thrilled). On the other hand, I used to love Macaroni Grill.... So I'm a poor but snobbish gourmand, I guess. I used to eat out a lot more when I lived in Austin but I can't afford to now in Dallas. And you don't care about Dallas restaurants anyway!
~terry Wed, Apr 16, 1997 (21:30) #14
I can handle the Olive Garden occasionally. But by the time I get done with their never ending breadsticks and huge all you can eat salad, I'm ready to put the main course in a doggie bag.
~crazyj Wed, Oct 15, 1997 (10:25) #15
Hey everyone, it's CrazyJ here. Listen up. I'm looking for a good place to eat. I don't care what kind of food it is, just give me some good grub and a nice atmosphere. Is that too much to ask for?
~stacey Wed, Oct 15, 1997 (12:10) #16
assuming your in Austin... Nice atmosphere: casual, Shady Grove, Hyde Park Grill Nice atmosphere: kinda chi chi, Hyde Park (again), Mushashino (sushi) Best chef: Little Italy on Mesa drive
~KitchenManager Wed, Oct 15, 1997 (22:15) #17
Thanks, stacey. How much do I owe you? WER
~stacey Thu, Oct 16, 1997 (09:09) #18
a tiramisu when I come to visit!!!!
~KitchenManager Thu, Oct 16, 1997 (23:37) #19
It's yours, baby, just tells me when! WER
~stacey Fri, Oct 17, 1997 (11:00) #20
Will do! Certainly sometime in December.
~KitchenManager Sat, Oct 18, 1997 (00:11) #21
It's on the calendar. WER
~KitchenManager Fri, Oct 31, 1997 (01:20) #22
Hey, terry: ..........How come I get different descriptions from my two different accounts? And neither one gives me the you are a host sentence? WER
~terry Fri, Oct 31, 1997 (07:32) #23
What do you mean different descriptions?
~stacey Fri, Oct 31, 1997 (10:00) #24
In one he's THE MAN and in the other he's KING SHIT!
~KitchenManager Fri, Oct 31, 1997 (15:00) #25

~KitchenManager Fri, Oct 31, 1997 (15:01) #26

~stacey Fri, Oct 31, 1997 (16:46) #27
Did I offend your delicate sensiblities?
~KitchenManager Fri, Oct 31, 1997 (23:44) #28
Not yet, but you can try if you like. WER
~terry Sat, Nov 1, 1997 (20:01) #29
Really, give it the old college try, Stacey, what a challenge!
~KitchenManager Mon, Nov 3, 1997 (08:39) #30
FYI-The results of the Chronicle's Restaurant Poll should be in this week's (Nov. 7) issue. WER
~stacey Mon, Nov 3, 1997 (09:02) #31
Is that the est of Austin" issue?
~KitchenManager Mon, Nov 3, 1997 (09:07) #32
Nope, that issue has already come and gone. WER
~KitchenManager Sat, Nov 8, 1997 (01:15) #33
It'll probably take me a couple of days, but I'll stick in the readers' and the critics' choices in the correct topics, where applicable. wer
~stacey Mon, Nov 10, 1997 (10:33) #34
Ambitious of you! Let us know how we can help *smile*
~terry Mon, Nov 10, 1997 (11:34) #35

~KitchenManager Wed, Dec 10, 1997 (01:12) #37

~stacey Wed, Dec 10, 1997 (09:42) #38
[1~That you're feeling better.
~KitchenManager Wed, Dec 10, 1997 (11:31) #39
The bronchitis thingy? It's pretty much cleared up.
~stacey Mon, Dec 15, 1997 (18:30) #40
I didn't know you could get bronchitis in your brain? Imagine that!
~KitchenManager Tue, Dec 16, 1997 (01:31) #41
Didn't think that's what you were talking about... At the moment, yes, but who knows when you work with your affliction... Am glad you're back, again, and am startin' to gets anticipatory 'bout yo visit.
~stacey Wed, Dec 17, 1997 (10:06) #42
Me too! We'll be in Austin sometime after the 26th, I suppose I'll call the restaurant?
~KitchenManager Wed, Dec 17, 1997 (12:09) #43
Suppose so, number is 345-5761 If your e-mail link works, and you check it, can give ya me home number, too.

~stacey Fri, Dec 19, 1997 (14:24) #46

~KitchenManager Wed, Jan 7, 1998 (00:11) #50

~stacey Thu, Jan 8, 1998 (20:50) #51
After this week, I have no nerves left... can you say frazzled? I thought you could.
~KitchenManager Thu, Jan 8, 1998 (20:53) #52
Hugs and kisses in all the right places, and a long, soothing massage...
~stacey Thu, Jan 8, 1998 (21:06) #53
oh man. sadly enough the massage sounds better than anything right now. It isn't often that my sex drive falls victim to stress but 'fraid tis true today.
~KitchenManager Thu, Jan 8, 1998 (23:48) #54
No problem...just lie back, I've got the oil right here... My, you are tense, here, let's try this...
~stacey Fri, Jan 9, 1998 (18:21) #55
whew... this is making me sit up straight!!! sorry i dropped off last night -- 7pm meeting and it didn't end until 9:15. After all that I only wanted to go home!
~KitchenManager Sat, Jan 10, 1998 (22:03) #56
No problem, you're relaxing remember, now, lean forward a little so I can get to your lower back... *long, slow, powerful strokes* Here, this is in the way, mind if I take it off?
~stacey Thu, Jan 15, 1998 (17:52) #57
please do!
~KitchenManager Thu, Jan 15, 1998 (23:15) #58
There, much better, no? I think this might be in the way, too. May I?
~stacey Mon, Jan 19, 1998 (17:44) #59
certainly
~KitchenManager Mon, Jan 19, 1998 (21:58) #60
Thank you. There was this one trouble spot that I couldn't get to. You're starting feel a lot looser, most of the surface tension is gone. Now I can get to work on those knots. To get the right leverage, I might seem to be getting a little personal...let me know just before I go too far, okay?
~stacey Tue, Jan 20, 1998 (18:25) #61
(really need a massage today) (huge tension)
~KitchenManager Tue, Jan 20, 1998 (21:59) #62
School?
~stacey Thu, Jan 22, 1998 (17:52) #63
yes. (yesterday) yes. (today)
~KitchenManager Fri, Jan 23, 1998 (08:16) #64
Anything I can do to help?
~stacey Fri, Jan 23, 1998 (09:12) #65
you already provide the best listening... the rest can't be taken care of virtually
~KitchenManager Fri, Jan 23, 1998 (09:14) #66
Then, once again, I wish I was in da hood, and I'm always willing to listen, Stacey. Hope today turns out less stressful, hon.
~stacey Mon, Jan 26, 1998 (09:39) #67
I took a personal day in the afternoon and sorted a few things out. Feel much more centered now!
~KitchenManager Mon, Jan 26, 1998 (15:15) #68
Cool.
~stacey Mon, Jan 26, 1998 (17:27) #69
and happy. I feel good today. I'm sending you a hug, mostly because I finally feel really strong and capable again but also because I'd like to see you smile! *hug*
~KitchenManager Mon, Jan 26, 1998 (22:21) #70
You could, too, now without the beard and long hair... *reciprocation* *eye wrinkles*
~stacey Mon, Jan 26, 1998 (22:21) #71
(like the eye wrinkles) *smile*
~KitchenManager Mon, Jan 26, 1998 (22:21) #72
*blush*
~KitchenManager Fri, Jan 30, 1998 (03:09) #73
so, what else you want to do to get to know each other, Stacey?
~stacey Fri, Jan 30, 1998 (03:09) #74
*smile* let's tickle each other and see who has the most control (put up a good front WER, I like a challenge!)
~KitchenManager Fri, Jan 30, 1998 (03:09) #75
You're on...I'll take that bet... simultaneously, or are we taking turns?
~stacey Fri, Jan 30, 1998 (17:53) #76
gotta be simeltaneously...
~stacey Fri, Jan 30, 1998 (17:54) #77
and what's with the time and date?!?!? Paul?!?!? tis freaking me out!
~KitchenManager Tue, Feb 3, 1998 (10:20) #78
well, just so you know, there's only two spots where I'm ticklish, so to be fair, we'll have to be nekkie...
~KitchenManager Tue, Feb 3, 1998 (22:24) #79
on second thought, I concede, you win. wouldn't want to appear not to be a gentleman. *wink*
~Wolf Tue, Feb 3, 1998 (22:25) #80
am gonna hound you til you talk *grin*
~Wolf Tue, Feb 3, 1998 (22:28) #81

~KitchenManager Wed, Feb 25, 1998 (13:58) #83
Has everyone quit with this topic? Ain't seen no action lately (including my own, I must admit...) whether it be good, bad, indifferent, or licentious.....
~stacey Wed, Feb 25, 1998 (17:21) #84

~Wolf Mon, Mar 2, 1998 (21:27) #90

~terry Mon, Mar 2, 1998 (22:33) #91
Wm's still in stunned silence over this.
~KitchenManager Mon, Mar 2, 1998 (23:14) #92
you know that's right!!! (thanks, guys...)
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 9, 1998 (02:35) #93
Now, post something!!!!!!! (uh, please?)
~stacey Thu, Apr 9, 1998 (17:03) #94

~KitchenManager Fri, Apr 10, 1998 (00:28) #95
You mad at me? anyone in particular current thread was everyone's bruhaha about me becoming host in here satisfied?
~KitchenManager Mon, Apr 13, 1998 (08:17) #96

~stacey Mon, Apr 13, 1998 (09:23) #97
