We got into Italian restaurants in the intros, so I thought it was about time to have a topic. So here it is. What are your favorite Italian restaurants?
~KitchenManager Sat, Feb 8, 1997 (15:01) #1
My wifey's are Carmello's Little Italy Olive Garden Bodega della Pasta It's hard for me to say because I work at one and eat at not that many more. WER
~KitchenManager Fri, Feb 14, 1997 (13:16) #2
XL ent. ranks Mezzaluna and Sfuzzi as the best two, by a half star. WER
~KitchenManager Sat, Oct 11, 1997 (19:44) #3
What? Doesn't anyone else on here eat Italian food at restaurants? WER
~stacey Mon, Oct 13, 1997 (13:04) #4
In Denver: Pasta J's, The Bent Noodle and my very own Italian kitchen!
~KitchenManager Mon, Oct 13, 1997 (23:20) #5
How do I beg for recipes? (Especially in a way that will work!) WER
~stacey Wed, Oct 15, 1997 (09:22) #6
I guess you could call them up and ask?!? I don't do the recipe thing, if I try it at a restaurant I try to discern the ingredients, usually I have to try it at least twice, then I go home and experiment!
~KitchenManager Wed, Oct 15, 1997 (22:18) #7
Exactly. Drives my wife nuts when I make something she likes, then asks me if I wrote down the recipe and I tell her, "Nope." WER
~stacey Thu, Oct 16, 1997 (09:10) #8
*giggle* Makes life an adventure doesn't it?
~KitchenManager Thu, Oct 16, 1997 (23:39) #9
Something like that. WER
~stacey Wed, Oct 22, 1997 (12:03) #10
How's our fave Italian chef these days?
~KitchenManager Wed, Oct 22, 1997 (12:57) #11
I don't know that I can type for that long! At the moment I have a melatonin hangover and accompanying lack o' caffeine headache. So, how's teach? WER
~stacey Wed, Oct 22, 1997 (12:59) #12
Sounds like I'm better off than you. The flat tire this morning, crappy admin mtg and caffeine overdose, notwithstanding! *smile*
~KitchenManager Wed, Oct 22, 1997 (13:02) #13
*smile* WER
~stacey Wed, Oct 22, 1997 (13:04) #14
Pissing your day off away or do you have great plans with which to make it fly quickly by?
~KitchenManager Wed, Oct 22, 1997 (13:08) #15
Yapping on here, doing some html later, going to the park with my daughter, parent/teacher conference for my stepson, buy more cigs, maybe eat sometime. And you? WER
~stacey Wed, Oct 22, 1997 (13:13) #16
ALPAS testing going on today, so no student contact today. I should be getting caught up on some paperwork but obviously, I have chosen to slack. Excuses include: rough morning, need some food, pretty days make me unproductive... the list goes on. Where do your kids go to school? I did my student teaching at Doss Elementary on Far West Blvd. Still chilly in Austin? Enjoy the park, I am envious.
~KitchenManager Wed, Oct 22, 1997 (13:14) #17
Stepson goes to Brentwood. Daughter is almost 4, no school yet. WER
~stacey Wed, Oct 22, 1997 (13:17) #18
Names???
~KitchenManager Wed, Oct 22, 1997 (13:22) #19
Taylor Charles Shumer Zoe Jessica Roland WER
~stacey Thu, Oct 23, 1997 (09:18) #20
great names! (back to conference subject) do they like Italian food?
~KitchenManager Thu, Oct 23, 1997 (12:53) #21
Zoe will eat most anything, but she likes the meatballs best from work and Taylor likes the pizza. WER
~stacey Thu, Oct 23, 1997 (13:04) #22
Mmmm. Making me hungry. Wish I could "cash in" on my tiramisu early...
~KitchenManager Thu, Oct 23, 1997 (13:18) #23
Unless I've got the wrong plug-ins, I can't send it to ya online. Sorry WER
~stacey Fri, Oct 24, 1997 (11:22) #24
It'll wait.
~terry Fri, Oct 24, 1997 (14:43) #25
Till the tiramasu plug-in is released?
~stacey Fri, Oct 24, 1997 (14:45) #26
Or until I come visit, whichever comes first!
~KitchenManager Sat, Oct 25, 1997 (00:22) #27
I that some sorta zen question? Who came first, Stacey or the Tiramisu plug-in for IE? WER
~stacey Mon, Oct 27, 1997 (09:40) #28
You're thinking a 'bit' too deep.
~KitchenManager Mon, Oct 27, 1997 (23:01) #29
..........Yeah, like I have a choice. WER
~stacey Tue, Oct 28, 1997 (08:47) #30
*giggle*
~KitchenManager Wed, Oct 29, 1997 (00:21) #31
So, toots, why ain't cha posted in the innuendo topic in the sex conference? WER
~stacey Wed, Oct 29, 1997 (09:57) #32
I'm not a member. Maybe I should investigate though.
~terry Wed, Oct 29, 1997 (21:03) #33
May I see your id please?
~KitchenManager Wed, Oct 29, 1997 (22:52) #34
And I'd like to see your super ego... WER
~terry Thu, Oct 30, 1997 (05:09) #35
Rename this the Freudian Italian Restaurant topic.
~stacey Thu, Oct 30, 1997 (08:40) #36
And I'd like to see... damn. wrong topic again.
~KitchenManager Thu, Oct 30, 1997 (11:58) #37
And how would you like that served, Mother? WER
~terry Thu, Oct 30, 1997 (12:54) #38
Does your outfit deliver? What's the number to call?
~KitchenManager Fri, Oct 31, 1997 (00:06) #39
Eat Out In, but I don't know the number off the top of my head. WER
~terry Fri, Oct 31, 1997 (07:33) #40

~KitchenManager Fri, Oct 31, 1997 (15:03) #41
Spicewood Springs and Mesa, right across the street from BCSI WER
~terry Fri, Oct 31, 1997 (18:22) #42
One of these days we'll get your takeouts? What do you recommend for lunch? XY ``
~stacey Tue, Nov 4, 1997 (12:11) #43
Ciao Signor WER! Is today your day off?
~terry Tue, Nov 4, 1997 (13:22) #44
I still have my Little Italy salad from yesterday in the 'fridgertator.
~KitchenManager Tue, Nov 4, 1997 (22:57) #45
Wednesday, stacey, Wednesday. WER
~stacey Wed, Nov 5, 1997 (10:38) #46
Happy day off!!! (At least I think it's Wednesday) I've been so discombobulated lately... I spent Monday thinking it was Thursday.
~terry Wed, Nov 5, 1997 (11:13) #47
Nice try!
~KitchenManager Wed, Nov 5, 1997 (13:25) #48
Yeah, but that can make for a very long week. WER
~stacey Fri, Nov 7, 1997 (12:04) #49
sometimes coming to work can make for a very long week.
~KitchenManager Fri, Nov 7, 1997 (16:02) #50
Sometimes? WER
~KitchenManager Sat, Nov 8, 1997 (01:21) #51
and this readers poll winner is: Mezzaluna
~terry Sat, Nov 8, 1997 (08:43) #52
And the runner up is???
~KitchenManager Sat, Nov 8, 1997 (10:24) #53
I said it would take me a couple of days to get all the information up. Runners-up: Romeo's, Romano's Macaroni Grill Honorable Mentions Basil's, Carraba's Italian Grill, Frank & Angie's
~terry Sat, Nov 8, 1997 (18:45) #54
Do you agree with these selections?
~KitchenManager Sun, Nov 9, 1997 (11:46) #55
I find some of the placings odd, but I could have guessed most of them.
~stacey Mon, Nov 10, 1997 (10:35) #56
Mezzaluna was one of my favorite places. But I also enjoyed that little Italian place on 5th and (?) Red River? somewhere around there.
~terry Mon, Nov 10, 1997 (11:34) #57
Hmmmm?
~stacey Wed, Nov 19, 1997 (11:17) #58
Happy Day Off, WER!
~KitchenManager Wed, Nov 19, 1997 (11:29) #59
thanks, stace
~stacey Wed, Nov 19, 1997 (11:30) #60
A lazy day at the park with your daughter?
~KitchenManager Wed, Nov 19, 1997 (11:32) #61
Nope, wife got's the car, so we lazy at home today. She started day care Monday, goes on Tuesday and Thursday also.
~stacey Wed, Nov 19, 1997 (11:35) #62
Your wife or your daughter? Just kidding. Is it rainy? A good paint by numbers day! Warm? A good go-outside-and-kick-a-ball day! Cold but sunny? A perfect walk-around-the-block day! I'm just making myself envious now! Funny, I'm NEVER envious of your 10 hour days!
~KitchenManager Thu, Nov 20, 1997 (14:20) #63
Dat's okay, I'm envious of you and your mountains and snow. Sometimes, I think that's all I need to get levelled back out. It's been so long.
~stacey Fri, Nov 21, 1997 (10:35) #64
The mountains give me perspective, that's for sure. In fact, I'm taking a solo weekend jaunt tonight (if it doesn't snow). A mini vacation down to Glenwood Springs to ease my mind.
~KitchenManager Fri, Nov 21, 1997 (10:40) #65
Good luck, I'd hate for you to loose your weekend to this problem. *hugs*
~stacey Fri, Nov 21, 1997 (10:55) #66
Oh, the coworker? I get frustrated but never ruin my own weekend over it. Relationship and family problems are the ones that have the potential to really get me down. Stupid coworkers... eh? What can you do?
~KitchenManager Fri, Nov 21, 1997 (10:57) #67
Now there's a question I wish I knew the answer to.
~stacey Mon, Nov 24, 1997 (12:19) #68
Had a fabulous Italian dinner on Friday night with an old friend. Josephina's in LoDo. The bread was served with a tomato-garlic pesto that I culdn't get enough of until the portabello mushroom came in its reduction sauce! For dinner I had grilled eggplant with polenta. So much I couldn't finish it all. And for all those who haven't gotten to watch me nosh my body weight at dinner (like Paul), not finishing a delicious meal is darn near unfathomable for me! After dinner we went to Enoteca for another bottle of Merlot and after an hour I was ready for the bruschetta with roasted red peppers and chevre! A truly enjoyable dinner and OOPS! I forgot to mention the tiramisu at Josephina's. Eh, it wasn't THAT good. I'm holding out for Little Italy!
~katrina Fri, Dec 5, 1997 (23:44) #69
When are you going there?
~stacey Mon, Dec 8, 1997 (18:00) #70
I'll be in Austin after Christmas and until New Year's day. So, sometime in between. To meet a WER and eat a tiramisu.
~KitchenManager Mon, Dec 8, 1997 (23:29) #71
Oh, if only the opposite...
~stacey Tue, Dec 9, 1997 (10:17) #72
As soon I typed it... I recognized the options! *smile*
~KitchenManager Tue, Dec 9, 1997 (11:42) #73
At least you didn't recant...
~stacey Tue, Dec 9, 1997 (18:17) #74
oh, no... I appreciate a good innuendo.
~KitchenManager Tue, Dec 9, 1997 (23:01) #75
Oh, you just want me for my mind...
~stacey Wed, Dec 10, 1997 (09:42) #76
Yeah right! *giggle*
~KitchenManager Wed, Dec 10, 1997 (11:34) #77
Didn't realize how much I missed those *giggle*s. Thanky, ma'am.
~stacey Mon, Dec 15, 1997 (18:30) #78
*giggle* *smile*
~KitchenManager Tue, Dec 16, 1997 (01:33) #79
LOL...
~stacey Wed, Dec 17, 1997 (10:09) #80
When is your new day off?
~KitchenManager Wed, Dec 17, 1997 (12:11) #81
This week it's today (more or less...) Next two, it'll be Thursday.
~KitchenManager Wed, Jan 7, 1998 (00:15) #82
WHAT??? Wasn't the food good enough to talk about, you two?
~terry Wed, Jan 7, 1998 (11:51) #83
The food was great! But the conversation was so good that it absorbed much of my attention.
~KitchenManager Wed, Jan 7, 1998 (12:27) #84
I have to give you that... When it was my turn to join, I found that it was very difficult to end the conversation and return home...Stacey is a very engaging conversationalist.
~stacey Thu, Jan 8, 1998 (20:52) #85
*blush* food was great wer. somehow I'd like to combine the marsala part o Paul's meal with the big mushrooms in mine! and letsee... tiramisu was yummilicious. I too enjoyed the conversations immensely...
~KitchenManager Thu, Jan 8, 1998 (20:56) #86
*WooWoo* Does this mean my invites to Colorado are still on?
~stacey Thu, Jan 8, 1998 (21:06) #87
of course!!! I'll cook!
~KitchenManager Thu, Jan 8, 1998 (23:50) #88
There is no doubt in my mind... (at least not now...)
~stacey Fri, Jan 9, 1998 (18:21) #89
*smile*
~KitchenManager Sat, Jan 10, 1998 (22:05) #90
Thank you...
~stacey Thu, Jan 15, 1998 (17:52) #91
for???
~KitchenManager Thu, Jan 15, 1998 (23:17) #92
not running away screaming when I'm near? (yet...)
~stacey Mon, Jan 19, 1998 (17:45) #93
WER, you've got some fairly serious self-depreceating techniques. Why for?
~KitchenManager Mon, Jan 19, 1998 (22:00) #94
I was taught well and have never learned differently.
~KitchenManager Tue, Jan 20, 1998 (00:10) #95
In fact, those lessons were fairly well re-enforced again today. You should be careful here, Stacey, you may find yourself on treacherous ground.
~stacey Tue, Jan 20, 1998 (18:26) #96
feeling the ugly monster coming on again?
~KitchenManager Tue, Jan 20, 1998 (22:03) #97
It's doing the typing, actually. Haven't seen the reason to speak out this time. Doesn't matter if I do or don't, nothing changes. And at least if I'm quiet, no one else is affected. *wink*
~stacey Thu, Jan 22, 1998 (17:54) #98
Don't let it control your life, WER. You don't have to fight it either. Just realize it's not strong, and it's your creation. You can just lay it to rest (or kill it, if that makes you feel better!)
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 2, 1998 (00:05) #99
Wow, do we stray off course on occasion... Marc Katz ate at the restaurant tonight...
~terry Thu, Apr 2, 1998 (19:17) #100
I saw a Top of the Mark while crusing around frisco yesterday. That's where he got the idea for Top of the Mark, from the place above the Mark Hopkins hotel in SF.
