Welcome to the sports conference. This is where we talk sports on lots of levels: pro, college, amateur, and we even get into fitness and personal sports. Like the first item in a lot of our conferences, this is where we meet up and get to know each other. How well an you get to know each other online? So, jump in! Let us know who you are, where you hail from, how you heard about us, and what you expect from this sports conference and what you have to contribute (what are your interests and talents?) What are your favorite sports? Players? Teams? What sports do you play and how do you keep fit?
~terry Wed, Jul 3, 1996 (02:00) #1
Im Paul Terry Walhus from Austin, Texas. Were home to the Longhorns basketball, volleyball and football teams. The Cowboys train here at St. Eds. Someday maybe well have a minor league team. My favorite sport is NBA basketball, followed by college basketball, then college football, NFL football, golf and tennis.
~copyboy Wed, Jul 3, 1996 (22:15) #2
I'm Josh Daniel, also in Austin. I'm checking out the Spring because, hey, the Well isn't free, you know. I follow the Houston Rockets pretty closely; I suppose pro basketball is my favorite sport. I was *almost* into baseball last season when the strike came up. Ugh. I keep my hopes up for the Oilers, but then, you're not really a sports fan until you root for a team that never wins--that's my motto. I have to say I hate the Cowboys, though I can't put my finger on exactly why.
~terry Fri, Jul 5, 1996 (10:50) #3
Welcome Josh. I'll be interested in hearing your comments about the Rockets chances next year. Same here on baseball, not back into it yet. We've got a Cowboys item here when you pull together your thoughts on this.
~copyboy Fri, Jul 5, 1996 (22:01) #4
I'm following this Rockets deal for Barkley very closely. I have a feeling it'll fall through. I said before last season was over that the Rockets would not win the finals in 96, then trade for Barkely in the off-season and return to the finals next year. I still hold to that. However, I'm uneasy about giving up Sam Cassell. Horry is a great player but sometimes wouldn't show up (figuratively) for several games at a time. Cassell shows signs of becoming one of the best sixth men around. And of course, there's the matter of money. Lousy salary cap! Still holding out hope, Josh
~terry Sun, Jul 7, 1996 (02:36) #5
I think today it was looking like the Barkley deal was a go. It feels like the Rockets would rather have a another championship next season instead of build for a future seveal years down the line. Do you blame them? Championships can be a once in a couple of decades proposition unless you're the Lakers, Bulls, or another legendary team. Who do folks feel will be the powers in the NBA next season? And what about the Dream Team barely squeaking out a victory today over the college pickup team. Chalk it up to a shakedown cruise perhaps, but this *is* the *dream team*. Wish I could have caught the game on tv, anyone catch it?
~fbrown Sat, Aug 3, 1996 (12:10) #6
Hi! I'm Fred and, unfortunately, I'm a Texas Rangers fan. I can't understand why the Rangers insist on trying to make it each year with what amounts to a minor league staff!!! I was really hoping they'd make a major move or two to shore up the staff for the pennant race. I officiate high school football and baseball, so I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment. :-) Hook 'em Horns! Go Cowboys, Rangers and Spurs! Go Oilers ... and take the Astros with you!!! One more note, I'd like to see a sports radio discussion group at Spring. Now that we have an all-sports radio station in Austin, it would be nice to have a forum for expanding on topics Max and "Dribbling" Dick discuss. The 1-on-1 site is more for national topics and not necessarily everything that Max and Dick talk about. Keep up the good work at Spring. Fred
~terry Sat, Aug 3, 1996 (22:21) #7
I'll create an topic called sports radio then, good idea. I enjoy Max's show on my morning ride into work and have been a frequent (can you say daily) caller on his show. In fact, I'm settting up a website for him.
~stacey Mon, Aug 5, 1996 (10:00) #8
Greetings! As of August 12th, I will no longer be hailing from Austin, Texas but as far as a sports conference is concerned it won't matter too much anyway. I was bred to be a Cleveland Browns fan and now I don't have a team. My new home will be in Denver, Colorado but rest assured, there will be no Bronco rooting for me!
~terry Thu, Aug 8, 1996 (10:38) #9
We'll miss you around here Stacey and we hope you can get connected in Denver so you can come join us again. And Fred, the sports radio topic is happening so jump on in and comment. Did you see today's article about Max in the XLent section of the Statesman?
~oplion Wed, Aug 14, 1996 (17:01) #10
Well Hello..Looks like I came to the wrong ant hill.As a Dolphin fan, Not A Jimmy Johnson fan (even if HE does have my name) it would seem a bit unuseual that I will find a Umm..Seat in this stadium. Sports, sports, and of course more sports. I try not to watch the striken (is that the correct tense) Marlins,or for that matter any baseball, but can't stay away.As a new release from team aol,(what a looser)I am searching for a new way to fill my free time untill football gets into full swing.Webbing seams to be the answer.I am sure I will hook on with a Florida based IRC soon. Its up to Texas to help me through the worst prediction -Bryan Cox will fall on his face this year, look for Pittsburg to have a stellar year running the ball. Stoyonvich to the Redskins, for #1 draft pick. The Oilers, well time to be quiet..Solong from the sunshine stste. Jimmy Johnson
~terry Tue, Aug 20, 1996 (00:16) #11
Well, Marino looked good in tonights Monday Night football preseason game, even without a probowl receiver on hand. Looks like Jimmy Johnson has some work to do though, as this team needs much more of his style of leadership. Warren Moon looked pretty good too, when he wasn't letting the ball slip out of his hands. Stoyonovich hit the uprights on his field goal attempt. Close but no cigar. Welcome Jim Johnson, feel free to hang out on this ant hill.
~oplion Tue, Aug 20, 1996 (08:24) #12
Good morning terry. I almost never miss a Dolphin's game, but got caught up in work till late last night. It's good the D's won going into N.E.for the first game, well it's a conference game and they do have a good line. So momentum is with with them,I will have to read how bad (according to JJ) they were in the paper.Sometimes the review of the game doesn't upset my breakfast.Looking forward to the new season. More later...jjftlaud
~oplion Sat, Aug 24, 1996 (23:55) #13
jj didn't wait untill the third game of the season to show theres still some new twist's to his game plan. I don't remember Dallas doing a no huddle offence, only the Bills have done it with any sucess. I stand corrected,Stoyo didn't go to the 'Skins, but he went nonetheless. Looking forward to a seventy yard field goal by our new kicker!!! jjftlaud
~kildigard Fri, Aug 30, 1996 (14:01) #14

~terry Fri, Aug 30, 1996 (16:00) #15
How about going over to item 11 and making your picks for this weekends games?
~TJ Tue, Sep 3, 1996 (17:12) #16
Hello, I'm T.J. I was born in upstate NY and went in the Navy at 17. Traveled the world and retired to Bastrop, TX in December 1993. As far as a fan, I really don't care for any Texas Teams which makes me wonder why I signed on to this conversation. My favorite teams are the 49ers, and Giants in the NFL; And I find it real hard to cheer for anyone in the AFL(Almost Football League); Blackhawks, NHL; The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and Syracuse Orangemen are my teams in NCAA Football, I also have been known to cheer for BC and FSU and anyone that plays against the AGGIES. I will cheer for anyone Big East or ACC in NCAA Basketball but lean toward Syracuse and Duke in interconference play. MLB - I have always been a Yankees fan but for the last 20 years I might as well have backed the Rangers for all the good they have done. Actually, I'm still upset with baseball and haven't paid much attention since the strike. I'll probably watch my first game after the strike if the Yankees or Rangers make the playoffs. I find no hope in the NBA regular season and don't really pay any attention until the second season (playoffs) Then I'm a Celtics fan, so I don't get to watch basketball anymore. I heard about this website on 1490 sports radio, and wanted t get involved earlier but after I heard pauls, dicks and the kids pick for the first week of the NFL I had to get involved.
~terry Tue, Sep 3, 1996 (17:34) #17
Welcome TJ. We talk about all sports here, not just Texas sports. Jim Johnson is a prime example of this (Miami guy). I have a place out in Bastrop also, so we're sort of neighbors (I'm actually in Cedar Creek). My loyalties are the the Cowboys and the 49ers and it's starting to look like a 9ers year more and more.
~TJ Wed, Sep 4, 1996 (12:08) #18
Thanks Terry for the welcome. You must have a real problem during the November game between the 9ers and Boys. I find the same problem when the 9ers play the Giants. Jim - I want to wish you the best of luck with Miami, Its about time the (Almost Football League) remembers how to play real football. DEFENSE & A RUNNING GAME!!!!! Jimmy in Miami and Bill in New England should bring real football to the AFC. Kildigard - Top 6 for 96 will be 49ers, Packers, Bills, Miami, Phily, then Cowboys. I've put a few responses into the College Football, Horns Football and Cowboys sections. I also made some picks for this weeks pro games. Will keep looking to find out what type of fans we have on here. Does anyone know how to get in tough with a Notre Dame Fan Club in Austin. Is there a venue where one might go to watch the Notre Dame Games with other Irish Fans and maybe partake of a few refreshing beverages at the same time.
~Mariner Fri, Sep 6, 1996 (04:03) #19
Hey guys!
~Mariner Fri, Sep 6, 1996 (04:13) #20
Sorry about that, just getting use to the interface here. Anyway, I live in San Marcos(attending SWT), but grew up in Austin. My Team is the Seattle Mariners, and my sport is baseball. I've also been known to root for the Cowboys and the Braves. I usually pull for any team playing against the 49er's, Packers, Indians, Rangers, and the Aggies. Oh yeah, I'm a huge Longhorn Football & Basketball Fan. I do have some ties to the Detroit Lions, as the #1 Pick, Regg e Brown, and my friend, graduated with me in high school. Too bad for him as he hurt his knee, and is still listed as out for this week. Thanks for the space to air out my opinions, and keep up the great work. Oh yeah pass a word to the KFON guys on what a great job they're doin'!!! I listen every other day at work in Austin.!
~terry Fri, Sep 6, 1996 (09:13) #21
Welcome board Paul, join in our NFL week two picks if you get a chance before this Sunday noon's first kickoff. As you can see in item 11, we've got quite a few folks making picks this week and I'm getting a fax from Max with some more. If I get on Dribblin's show later today, I'll pass the word on. Max is online so he may see your comments.
~TJ Fri, Sep 6, 1996 (11:17) #22
Welcome Paul, at least we will be rooting for the same team every time the Aggies Play.
~TJ Fri, Sep 6, 1996 (15:53) #23
San Marcos, Cedar Creek, Bastrop - the highway 21 sports connection. Anyone else from out that way???
~vsix Tue, Sep 10, 1996 (00:03) #24
Hey guys! After much pressure from Paul I decided to pay a visit. Looks good Paul! Where are Max and Dick?
~terry Tue, Sep 10, 1996 (10:40) #25
Look around Vern. And make your picks for next weeks games if you're up on the NFL. You won't see Dick posting here, Max has a couple of comments somewhere. Welcome aboard.
~TJ Tue, Sep 10, 1996 (13:26) #26
Paul, did not know where else to put a request. I would like to see a few new topics, so that it might make it easier to keep track of the weekly (growing) pick group. Suggest that two new topics be NFL PICKS and COLLEGE PICKS to make it easier to find as well as keep track of. Also would you be interested in a new topic for DARTS. Let me know your opinion, Thanks
~terry Tue, Sep 10, 1996 (15:50) #27
Sounds good. I'll set these up.
~TJ Wed, Sep 11, 1996 (10:57) #28
Thanks Paul
~TJ Thu, Sep 12, 1996 (08:38) #29
Paul, heard you on KFON about 5 yesterday, I take it your not a ND fan. I kept waiting for DD to slam me, but just like the longhorns, the entire chase for the national championship for the Irish begins in Memorial Stadium and I think (now more than ever) that DD is really an Irish fan trying to please the Austin audiance. I do have to thank you and DD, now everyone knows who is the biggest Irish fan in the area and I'm a hero with all my Irish Fan buddies. And its not a restaurant!!!!! Maybe some day we can get together with DD and tip a few cold ones while watching the Fighting Irish or Longhorns work toward the elusive national title.
~terry Fri, Sep 13, 1996 (09:00) #30
Somebody begins their road to the national title in Darrell Royal Memorial Stadium next weekend. Longhorn fans should pray for rain again, it really helped them in their last win. UT has some awesome weapons, like running qb James Brown and the running back trio that's hard to stop. I look for Priest Holmes to step up big in the Notre Dame game. So do they have a sports bar in Rockne?
~lydlemike Wed, Sep 18, 1996 (23:40) #31
I heard somewhere the Max Miller was going to have a WebPage but I can't find it on the Web Browser, if anyone hears of it, would be great to check it out. Mike L.
~terry Thu, Sep 19, 1996 (07:50) #32
Max's "space reserved" for the future web page is at: http://www.kfon.com Or http://www.kfon.com/~max
~terry Wed, Sep 25, 1996 (10:37) #33
The sports conference is seek a host or co-hosts. It's not a paying job really, unless you're looking for some net access or a website or some other use of our servers.
~boyce2 Wed, Sep 25, 1996 (16:20) #34
I've only just started logging in every day here, but I have experience...
~terry Wed, Sep 25, 1996 (17:59) #35
Sounds great! You re hired.
~boyce2 Thu, Sep 26, 1996 (11:25) #36
I suppose my first duty is to tally up the NFL poll...
~TJ Tue, Oct 1, 1996 (11:37) #37
Hey Boyce, congrats on the new host position!!!!!! have you figured out the stats yet????? Just kidding, take your time, you have 5 weeks to sift through. Best of Luck. Paul, heard you on the radio this morning, softball, football and b-ball pick up games. Do you have locations???????? Sounds great, would like to play some old man football some weekend. Would you do me a favor, could you create a Darts Topic.....yes a "Darts" topic. I know its a sedentary sport but it is still a sport and I wonder if anyone else on the conversation has an interest....... Thanks
~terry Tue, Oct 1, 1996 (15:23) #38
Sure, I'll create that plus the pickup game topic for basketball, softball, and touch football games.
~Mlydle Mon, Oct 7, 1996 (01:18) #39
Hey, how about starting up a San Antonio Spurs topic. It's about that time of the year. They also have a game coming up this Friday against the Rockets on Prime TV.
~terry Mon, Oct 7, 1996 (16:04) #40
Good idea. I don't know how I missed the Spurs when I set this up.
~TJ Wed, Oct 23, 1996 (12:22) #41
What happened in here, I couldn't get in forever: was there a problem???????
~terry Wed, Oct 23, 1996 (13:48) #42
There was a problem. We had a sudden breakdown on the part of our previous backbone provider and they hacked up our dns tables till nothing worked. So we quickly sought out a more reliable and more stable backbone provider (UUNet) and now we're in *far* better shape. Thanks for asking. I owed everyone an explanation. Around the first we'll also be putting up a new, more reliable dial up server for our dialup customers. Sorry for the downtime folks, we got hit by a tornado.
~plitton Wed, Nov 6, 1996 (14:26) #43
Does everyone talk just football? What about Nascar racing? Do I hear of any Dale Earnhart fans? He's still the king you know. The only football I'm interested in is a team who can smother the TN VOLS.
~terry Wed, Nov 6, 1996 (17:10) #44
Welcome Patricia! There just happens to be a NASCAR item.
~mickey Mon, Nov 11, 1996 (10:52) #45
well i do have to say that i love them there COWBOYS and the rockets too. i play all sports. hey, Patricia. what is TN VOLS?
~Baaron Sun, Nov 17, 1996 (19:19) #46
The cowboys just rule!
~Baaron Sun, Nov 17, 1996 (19:20) #47
Is this kind of like a chatroom?
~Baaron Sun, Nov 17, 1996 (19:20) #48
hello?
~Baaron Sun, Nov 17, 1996 (19:21) #49
uh anybody?
~Baaron Sun, Nov 17, 1996 (19:21) #50
THIS SUX!
~terry Sun, Nov 17, 1996 (20:11) #51
This isn't a chat room. It's a conference.
~jwcannon Sun, Dec 1, 1996 (22:52) #52
I Think the Rockets trade was Great. Barkley brings that HUNGER needed to win Championships. Horry and Cassel will be a loss in the Future. But Championships bring memories and Barkley will give Houston those.
~terry Sun, Dec 1, 1996 (23:31) #53
Good talking to you on NetMeeting tonight JW! Hope you make it back by.
~psycho Wed, Dec 4, 1996 (19:49) #54
Hi, everybody. I heard about this place from Electric Minds. Just thought I come and check it out. I'm a Yankees fan and a N.Y. Rangers fan. I also enjoy watching Indycar and F1. Once in a while, I'll watch a basketball or two.
~terry Wed, Dec 4, 1996 (19:52) #55
If you're a Yankees fan you had one helluva good year. What a dream team.
~Bud5 Tue, Dec 10, 1996 (00:01) #56
Football is cool but I'm mostly a hockey fan go CANADIANS! I don't really favor a pro football team but I like New England chances (last time I checked they where doing ok). I follow college Foot more and ND is my team.So terry you're a Netmeeting fan ? Huum wrong topic. It's funny how many people think this is a chat line... I know It's a lost cause but I root for the Toronto Raptors. As for myself, I play Ice Hockey outside (when it gets cold) and Roller Hockey in the Summer(you could say I dig the spor ). I'm also an avid cyclist. And I don't swim that good but like it too. I could go on like that and fill the whole page, caus if I don't play a sport I probably follow it! So lets just say I DON'T like figure skating (hahaha). Is it a sport? hummm
~terry Tue, Dec 10, 1996 (00:53) #57
Check out cycling in the fitness conference. Stacey Vura is our cycling maven.
~Rowdy Sat, Dec 21, 1996 (00:12) #58
Being New to the Group---I back-read Most of the Notices everyone has sent... Was good to see the Word----- "Nascar" Mentioned in "ONE".. !! Would Really like to see a Little More of that around here............ "Any takers"..?????? "Rowdy"
~genaXtex Tue, Dec 24, 1996 (14:46) #59
Hey guys! Here I was...surfing the web, and what do I find but the Spring. All beautiful and WEB-isized. Terry...you and your crew have done a nice job around the place in my absence. Of course, my first stop was sports...what Terry. No "girls" sports here! Happy holidays to everybody from gena in New England
~terry Tue, Dec 24, 1996 (17:15) #60
Hey Gena, welcome home to Texas! We can fix that. I'll start 'em or you start 'em up. Don't we have a Lady Horns topic?
~geekman Mon, Jan 13, 1997 (05:05) #61
G'day, I am here under sufferance of Terry! Geez, thanks Terry! You are most insupportable! Indeed I am most vexed! ;-) Well, I'm the token Aussie for another conference here on Spring! My favourite sports are Cricket, Rugby Union (Rugger), Tennis, Football (Soccer), Australian Rules, and Volleyball. I regularly play Tennis and Volleyball. Oh, I thought you all might want to know it's Summer here and we are enjoying beautiful, warm, sunny days! ;-)
~terry Mon, Jan 13, 1997 (05:45) #62
And you might even start up a cricket topic? I won't make you suffer, promise. Nice to know that, while we freeze our little fannies off.
~ginger Sun, Jun 8, 1997 (22:27) #63
Now it's summer here. Ian, must insufferabley hot.
~legaffe Fri, Sep 5, 1997 (08:22) #64
I'm George, I'm putting everything in the football pool on Rutgers this week.
~Rubi Tue, Oct 21, 1997 (00:34) #65
Hi, my name is Mike. I am from Michigan and I am proud to say that I attend the University of Michigan. My intrests include all sports but I have a special place in my heart for the Wolverine football team and the Detroit Lions. I hope there are some other college football fans out there that enjoy a healthy debate. Go Blue! Thanks
~terry Tue, Oct 21, 1997 (09:23) #66
Welcome Mike, I hope you join our football pool! Lines being posted today. You get $7,500 virtual dollars to start. King George is going to be tough to catch as he nears the $100k mark.
~rubi Tue, Oct 28, 1997 (21:49) #67
How do I join? Sounds good, just tell me who I have to kill. I wouldn't want to be wearing a Minnesota jersey this Sat. , I think the gophers are going to want to crawl in the ground with their relativies the woodchucks after Michigan gets done with them
~terry Tue, Oct 28, 1997 (23:37) #68
Go to the sports conference and look at the lines that are posted in the football pool topic. Then pick a team and put down a virtual bet like this: 5000 Niners Then if the Niners win and beat the spread you gain 5000 virtual dollars, if they don't make the spread you lose 5000 virtual dollars. So, with 7500 to start you would end up with either 12500 virtual dollars or 2500 virtual dollars. The good news is that Stacey may be jumping in and boyce is back. So come join us!
~legaffe Sat, Nov 8, 1997 (18:17) #69
Come one Stacey, jump in!
~terry Sat, Nov 8, 1997 (19:55) #70
Stacey, read response 69!
~gud Sat, Nov 8, 1997 (22:08) #71
Hey, how 'bout Judgement Day my friends? The Michigan Wolverines trounced Penn State today: 34-8! ESPN held a poll that over 90,000 people responded to, which said that the winner of this game should be #1 in the country, and I agree. Especially since Nebraska just barely slipped away from defeat with a miracle over Misourri. Florida St. is up 17-0 at the half against NC though, so it should be interesting. Who do you guys think should be #1 come Monday?
~terry Sun, Nov 9, 1997 (02:08) #72
Mizzou. Just kidding, but I'd like to see them get it on heart. They played great didn't they?
~gud Sun, Nov 9, 1997 (16:59) #73
Yeah, they definitely played a great game! It's unfortunate that they had to lose that way. That's how the underdog is supposed to win, not the #1 team in the nation. But I think the polls are out and Michigan is #1 in the AP....Awhhh yeah!!
~Clara Wed, Nov 12, 1997 (22:52) #74
Hello, I'm Clara, and I like volleyball.
~terry Thu, Nov 13, 1997 (11:39) #75
Welcome Clara!
~Hoop Sun, Dec 14, 1997 (22:12) #76
I'm Hoop from Wisconsin here to put my perspective on things. It looks like the Packers are going to the playoffs. The team has greatly improved since the first half of the season when they just barely squeaked by their opponents. If the Pack and the 49ers meet in the playoffs--its a tossup who wins--a very even matchup. The Packer fans are somewhat unique--the corny looking "cheesehead"--going shirtless in freezing cold temperatures--etc. etc. The Packer fans are extremely loyal. Even though they ad 30 years of mediocre and lousy teams, the fans stood by them. Every game is a sellout. The waiting list for season tickets is 15 years. Divorces get downright nasty over custody of the Packer tickets!!! The rivalry between the Packers and the Cowboys has always been a great one. I look for the Cowboys to be much stronger team next year. Hoop
~terry Sun, Dec 14, 1997 (23:52) #77
Let's hope you're right about the Cowboys. To say that the Pack fans are loyal is like saying the Pope's a Catholic. That Niner Pack game should be great!
~zx6rider Fri, Feb 27, 1998 (11:41) #78
Hi all! I've been absent from the Spring since my brief drop in back around Dec '96. Am gonna try to stay a bit more regular from here on out. OK... any runners out there?
~terry Fri, Feb 27, 1998 (11:58) #79
Wow, Gena, how *great* you're back. I've been working out but I've been swimming instead of running. I'm a mile a day swimmer. I do go on long walks nearly every day as I live out in the country and I'd be missing something if I didn't! Gosh, golly, so good you're checking back in again! An *orginal* spingeur!
~chiefluro Fri, Mar 6, 1998 (00:51) #80
Hi Everyone! I'm retired Air Force (30yrs), originally from Bangor, Maine, now permanently settled in sunny Ft Lauderdale. Background includes competative Swim Coach for military and AAU teams, horseback riding/competition, and love of sports in general. Am a heavy supporter of college sports...yes, the Miami Hurricanes! Am currently prepping to participate in next years Disney World Marathon (5K). My daughter runs in the Marathon and/or 1/2 Marathon this year. Have done a little traveling throughout the years, if anyone might be interested in my entry on the Travel Topic. This includes Europe, Korea, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Alaska, etc. Will be waiting t hear any relative comments on above topics. Am quite sure I'll get some response to Univ of Miami Hurricanes. Palmer
~paudster Thu, Apr 2, 1998 (19:17) #81
Hello! My name is Robert and I am a big time sports fan. I love all sports but my favorite sport is Basketball, followed by Football, and then Baseball. I am from Los Angeles, California so my favorite teams are the Lakers (God bless them), the Dodgers, the UCLA Bruins, and the....well, since we don't have a local football team, I root for the nearest team which is San Diego (don't laugh). I love the pros and college ranks, especially during the playoffs and tournaments. I try to play as much basketb ll as possible with a little tennis thrown in. I have a sit down job so my weight gain has been incredible; I try to work out twice a week but when it rains it pours. I found this site while doing a search on Alta Vista on "sports questions". Can't wait to exhale all of my questions on yall. If I maybe so forward and ask a beginning question right now since I need the info...Baseball, How are at-bats calculated? Is a walk counted as an at-bat? How about a sacrifice? What constitutes an at-bat? Please respond and thank you for this opportunity. Go Lakers!!!

I'm pretty sure every trip to the plate is an "at bat" isn't it. And welcome. I pretty much like basketball, football, golf, and baseball in that order. Feel free to add to the other topics in this conference! I'll try and keep you company and maybe even boyce will return from the dead.

I am a Sonics Fan, gotta love those Sonics. Even thought Westphal is their Coach now, they'll do great once again. I play basketball, so I'm not just a spectator. I am also a soccer player. Hey, I gotta kep in shape somehow.

What moves are they gonna make in the offseason to improve their team. And, oh, welcome!

Well, you know, I guess in order for any team to keep up the intensity on the court, they'll have to work very hard. They should work on their endurance and their front court will need a lot of work since Schrempf is really the only seasoned player they will have up front. Baker needs to work on his mental game. He lets the pressure get to him many times. I hope Westphal can do something about that. I hope he can do a better job with such a talented team than George Karl.

It's more wide open with the dissapation taking place with the Bulls, wouldn't you say? And folks may be tired of Utah, and they're aging.

Now is come the time of year to wonder if the Cowboys have enough steam to make it to the Super Bowl. Or will they fizzle again?

Hi all I want to introduce another sport not mentioned here. That is Netball. Netball is a 7-aside game played predominantly by women but also more and more by men, which originated in Britain and it is immensely popular in Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, the Pacific Islands and South Africa. Lesser known countries but existent nonetheless on the netball world circuit include Canada and the United States.
