College football season is about to rev up again, so here's a topic for the '96 college season. Who's your favorite team? Who are the top teams going to be? And who are this year's outstanding players?

Can you believe the Aggies blew it! Where is that awesome Aggies iron wall. BYU racked up over 500 yards passing and completed a clutch pass into the endzone with time running out and the Aggies in the lead. And then the Aggies cough up the ball on the next series. It was a great opening game (except for the outcome), good football to watch.

UT played a fine game against Mizzou. But they'll have to up it a level for Colorado, Notre Dame and some of their stronger up and coming opponents. I'll comment more in the Longhorns item.

Whoa, Texas = slippage. Looks Notre Dame is shaping up as the Longhorns turning point.

Terry, these are my picks for the entire season. What do yours look like??? Anyone else care to offer an opinion?? And yes, after Notre Dame and Colorado - Texas falls to 13.

OK I'll think it over and make some picks.

Hey since its so early in the season, maybe we can get Max, DD and the Kid to join in. Just to see how we fair by the end of the season.

So before any of you start, yes the fumbling I mean fighting irish had a bad night, but they did WIN. Then again Vandy did return 9 starters on defense aand are a much better team than the Longhorns walkovers scheduled for weeks one and two.

Here's a look at the final bowl situation. All times - Pacific Sugar Jan. 2, New Orleans, 5 p.m., ABC Matchup: Florida State (11-0, ACC champion/Alliance No.1) vs. Florida (11-1, SEC champion/Alliance No. 2) Note: Rematch Bowl Fiesta Jan. 1, Tempe, 5:30 p.m., CBS Matchup: Penn State (10-2, Alliance No. 3) vs. Texas (8-4, Big 12 champion/Alliance No. 5) Rose Jan. 1, Pasadena, 2 p.m., ABC Matchup: Arizona State (11-0, Pac-10 champion) vs. Ohio State (10-1, Big Ten champion) Note: Can an Arizona State win be enough to gain them a share of the title if Florida State has a lackluster win? Cotton Jan. 1, Dallas, 10:30 a.m., CBS Matchup: Kansas State (9-2, Big 12 No. 2) vs. BYU (13-1/WAC champion) Note: BYU missed a spot in the Alliance, but this is still the first ever New Years Day bowl trip for a WAC team. Florida Citrus Jan. 1, Orlando, 10 a.m., ABC Matchup: Northwestern (9-2, Big Ten No. 2) vs. Tennessee (9-2, SEC No. 2) Gator Jan. 1, Jacksonville, 9:30 a.m., NBC Matchup: North Carolina (9-2, ACC No. 2) vs. West Virginia (8-3, Big East No. 2) Outback Jan. 1, Tampa, 8 a.m., ESPN Matchup: Michigan (8-3, Big Ten No. 3) vs. Alabama (9-3, SEC No. 3) Note: Good defensive matchup. Orange Dec. 31, Miami, 4 p.m., CBS Matchup: Nebraska (10-2, Alliance No. 4) vs. Virginia Tech (10-1, Big East champion/Alliance No. 6) Note: The biggest game in the Hokies' history. Independence Dec. 31, Shreveport, 1 p.m., ESPN Matchup: Auburn (7-4, SEC No. 5) vs. Army (10-1, at-large) Sun Dec. 31, El Paso, 11:30 a.m., CBS Matchup: Stanford (6-5, Pac-10 No. 3) vs. Michigan State (6-5, Big Ten No. 5) Holiday Dec. 30, San Diego, 5 p.m., ESPN Matchup: Washington (9-2, Pac-10 No. 2) vs. Colorado (9-2, Big 12 No. 3) Note: Great matchup. Should have been a New Years Day game. Alamo Dec. 29, San Antonio, 5 p.m., ESPN Matchup: Texas Tech (7-4, Big 12 No. 4) vs. Iowa (8-3, Big Ten No. 4) Peach Dec. 28, Atlanta, 5 p.m., ESPN Matchup: Clemson (7-4, ACC No. 3) vs. LSU (9-2, SEC No. 4) Copper Dec. 27, Tucson, 6 p.m., ESPN Matchup: Utah (8-3, WAC No. 2) vs. Wisconsin (7-5, at-large) Note: Wyoming finished 10-2, but since Utah has more fans, the Utes were invited before Wyoming even played BYU in the WAC championship game. Carquest Bowl Dec. 27, Miami, 4:30 p.m., TBS Matchup: Miami (8-3, Big East No. 3) vs. Virginia (7-4, ACC No. 4) Liberty Bowl Dec. 27, Memphis, 12:30 p.m., ESPN Matchup: Houston (7-4, Conference USA champion) vs. Syracuse (8-3, Big East No. 4) Aloha Bowl Dec.25, Honolulu, 12:30 p.m., ABC Matchup: California (6-5, Pac-10 No.4) vs. Navy (8-3, at-large) Note: Middies lost to their biggest rival and wound up with a trip to Honolulu instead of Shreveport, Louisiana. Big 12 put 2 teams in the alliance and only had 5 total teams eligible for bowls anyway so they lost their slot in this bowl. Las Vegas Bowl Dec. 19, Las Vegas, 6:30 p.m., ESPN Matchup: Ball State (8-3, Mid-America champion) vs. Nevada (8-3, Big West champion) Note: Nevada brings one of the best Offensive systems in the nation into the game against a team known for defense. The Vegas Bowl is usually one of the few really entertaining games of the Bowl season. Make sure to tune in! Payout: $150,000 per team source: Go Nevada! tkiriluk@well.com
