The closest to a good tasting veggie burger that I've ever had is falafel. WER
~stacey #2
Turbo Falafel from Central Market beats all!

Are you telling me true? WER
~stacey #4
Of course I am.

Just in case... Nick is doing a menu redesign, and wants veggie burger suggestions...

There was an extensive veggie burger rundown that I did somewhere, I think it was in the veggie burger topic in food or somewhere, but I don't remember if it was in the old or new spring? Hmmm.

i had my first veggie burger at lavernes on the beach (VA) and it was gross. so don't use that recipe, k....

Ruby Tuesday has a good one, but the ones I bought at the supermarket (Lightlife or Lightline) really sucked...

Don't have anything to compare laverne's with, are they supposed to be spicy? (hi Autumn!)
~stacey #10
some of them are. Veggie burgers have come to encompass any type of burgeresque, patty-like thing w/o meat. So some are actually cut up veggie-tables all mushed together. Some are veggies mushed with beans. Some are beans with spices and barley with a few carrot shreds tossed in.... After one veggie burger, you've really not even broken the surface! (maybe try another kind before you make any resolutions)

that's what i was thinking. this thing was kinda tough. will try some more...
~stacey #12
good. ok

Tough & dry = bad veggieburger (IMHO). Forget Laverne's. Try Shirley's.

Tried two the other day that were actually good, (not good enough to stop eating meat, but...) both were by NaturalTouch. One was their Okara Pattie, which resembled chicken, however I can't remember the name of the other one...

I bbq'ed up some veggie burgers by the pool the other night, think it was Weds. It was really fun struggling with the gas grill and juggling chilled wine, microwaved potatoes, corn in foil and veggie burgers. I was very unprepared and had to improvise a lot, but it got me ready for the next round.
