Jan Hooks is my favorite comedienne. I loved her SNL skits with Nora
Dunn, remember the Swingle sisters? She was on SNL from 1986 through
1991. Her main characters were:
Tammy Faye Bakker
Eleanor Clift
Hillary Clinton
Nadia Comaneci
Bette Davis
Mia Farrow
Betty Ford
Kathie Lee Gifford
Nancy Glass (in Attitudes)
Jessica Hahn
Sally Kellerman
Dee Kelly (in Attitudes)
Marla Maples
Sinead O'Connor
Sally Jessy Raphael
Nancy Reagan
Diane Sawyer
Nancy Simmons (Wayne's World)
Candy Sweeney
and Ivana Trump
We run the http://www.janhooks.com site. That's how much we like Jan
Hooks (a lot!)

And who can forget "The Planet of the Enormous Hooters" that she did
with Dolly Parton (on the planet Estrogena)? OK. OK. So you can forget
that one.

Attitudes, a take on a show on the Lifetime Channel, was great. The
earnest intentness of these two talk show hosts leaning forward in their
chairs while the Driftwood Artist explained what he did was hilarious.
And those Sweeney Sister song medleys. Two sisters who lived to
entertain, hitting the Holiday Inns, the Ramadas, and the "Blarney Stone". Nora Dunn
played Liz and Jan played Candy.
One time the Sweeneys played a party at the Ramada, to celebrate the
new primate house at the zoo. Charlton Heston is the unwilling guest.
They sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", "Shock the Monkey", and "Yes, We Have No
Bananas".
But Cany says "I lied" and pulls one from the fruit bowl.
How do I remember all this? Two things,
1. Tapes from 86-91, I taped nearly every show
2. A book. Saturday Night Live, the First Twenty Years.

Nora Dunn - Jan Hooks frequent sidekick and Pat Schoeder
Mary Gross - Dr Ruth
Melanie Hutsell - Di, Tonya Harding, Tori Spelling
Victoria Jackson - Roseanne and Tina Yothers
Julia Louis-Dreyfus - Marie Osmund
Laraine Newman - Rosalyn Carter, Lina Wertmuller
Gilda Radner - Annette, Olga Korbut, Emily Litella, jackie O

Hi Stacey...Thanks for the welcome! I saw your Babe site and your pic. Your babe-osity is unquestionable...as are your brains. A double treat and maybe even a double threat...

hmmmm Terry got a "where an image should be" - that is good because it shows the rest of us that even the demigods of the computer world do it on occasion or they (from whomever it was borrowed) removed the source image!

This site needs serious fixing, and the above needs fixing and is the wrong topic.

Have you any idea how to get messages to Jan Hooks? She is too good to be languishing in obscurity! (tell me about fixing things. I cannot even get my buttons and bars on Geo to work!)

Hmm I did a search for her agent and came up empty but did find her "official web site" which I forwarded to the gentleman who asked the question.

The "offical" website for Jan Hooks is http://www.janhooks.com/
It sounds way too easy to be true.
