This here be ye olde body modification topic. What are your thoughts, likes, dislikes, and/or wants?
~KitchenManager Sun, Mar 22, 1998 (09:03) #1
More tattoos, more piercings, and some implants would be cool...
~KitchenManager Mon, Mar 23, 1998 (00:48) #2
oohh, yeah, and branding... can't forget the branding!
~stacey Mon, Mar 23, 1998 (13:32) #3
wouldn't mind a navel ring (on me) but the tongue/nipple/penis stuff is over piercing IMHO. Tattoos can be tasteful, don't like implants (maybe jealousy IS a factor!)
~autumn Mon, Mar 23, 1998 (19:39) #4
Hair color is about as radical as I get. To be honest, all that other stuff smacks of self-mutilation, IMHO.
~KitchenManager Mon, Mar 23, 1998 (23:42) #5
Really? Do go on...
~stacey Tue, Mar 24, 1998 (10:26) #6
(he's been working too hard. or at least too much!)
~KitchenManager Tue, Mar 24, 1998 (10:47) #7
(thought you said that wasn't an excuse)
~stacey Tue, Mar 24, 1998 (10:48) #8
it doesn't work with me but I thought the statement might help others understand! *smile*
~KitchenManager Tue, Mar 24, 1998 (10:51) #9
speaking of, gotta go stir the Alfredo, back in a bit (or so...)
~stacey Tue, Mar 24, 1998 (10:55) #10
I'll check back later this morning. My kids should be arriving soon and I haven't put up the quote for the day yet! Add much fondness to the Alfredo sauce (and mushrooms!) it'll make it taste even better!
~KitchenManager Tue, Mar 24, 1998 (11:05) #11
okay!
~stacey Tue, Mar 24, 1998 (16:48) #12
howdy! kids are at gym.
~KitchenManager Tue, Mar 24, 1998 (17:42) #13
Howdy, I'm between shifts today...go back on at 5, here.
~KitchenManager Sat, Apr 4, 1998 (04:12) #14
Well, Autumn, you never expounded on your self-mutilation statement. I'm still waiting...
~autumn Sat, Apr 4, 1998 (23:33) #15
What more can I say? I don't think I'm one of those dewy-eyed earth mother types, but there's no way I'd consider implanting a foreign material in my body for cosmetic reasons.
~KitchenManager Sun, Apr 5, 1998 (00:58) #16
For what reasons would you consider it?
~KitchenManager Sun, Apr 5, 1998 (01:19) #17
Re #4 and #15: Neither branding or body building, both body modifications, involve implanting foreign materials, so, are they self-mutilation also? (you don't even wear earrings?)
~autumn Sun, Apr 5, 1998 (19:36) #18
In a word, yes. (I do wear earrings because my ear lobes have no function to perform. However, I need my tongue, nose, etc. for other, more important biological functioning)
~stacey Mon, Apr 6, 1998 (16:27) #19
nice differentiation!
~KitchenManager Tue, Apr 7, 1998 (01:58) #20
but you said, "there's no way I'd consider implanting a foreign material in my body for cosmetic reasons." Tattoos do not intefere with the biological functioning of my skin, so they are no longer mutilations, right? And my nipples serve no biological function, so piercing them would not be mutilation, either, right? What about shaving, plucking eyebrows, waxing, electrolysis, or trimming toe and finger nails? Those are body modifications, also, but are they mutilations?
~autumn Tue, Apr 7, 1998 (22:19) #21
How do you know the tattoo ink doesn't interfere with the way your skin cells function? I would argue that anything introduced into the body has an effect on the way it performs. I personally think men's nipples are very erotic and spitting out an earring would not be my idea of a good time, but to each his own, I guess. I don't consider anything in the latter paragraph mutilation, just vanity. I'll trim my nails but won't polish them (you know what they put in that stuff?? About a zillion carcinogens) And I really feel sorry for women that think men give a damn about their eyebrows....
~KitchenManager Wed, Apr 8, 1998 (00:10) #22
Didn't realize eroticity(is this a word?) was a biological function... As to the ink, it actually leaves residue in your lymphatic system even if you have them removed (the tattoos, not the lymph glands!), and I am allergic to red ink also... How do you know that earrings do not affect the way that you hear? (and from most reports, piercing men's nipples actuall increases their sensitivity to erotic stimulus...and I like to nibble on ears, so earrings are something one learns to deal with...) and, visible body modifications fall into another category besides vanity: low self esteem--modifying one's body can be empowering (that's where my earrings came from)
~autumn Wed, Apr 8, 1998 (00:33) #23
I guess some insecurities are best accepted, and some best empowered. I count anything that can be aroused as performing a biological function--but please keep your tongue out of my ear! (by the way--the red ink allergy, did you find out the hard way??)
~KitchenManager Wed, Apr 8, 1998 (00:58) #24
Yes, I did... fortunately it is not a bad allergy, I just shouldn't get anymore in red... but, I do know now wether I'm getting sick or suffering from allergies...if it's an allergy, then two of my tattoos itch... (I'll try...can't promise though...) (do you realize that is now two orifices(sp?) of yours that you have complained about me sticking my tongue in?)
~stacey Wed, Apr 8, 1998 (09:59) #25
LOL! Autumn, I'm not sure about you but ear nibbling is perfectly acceptable (and encouraged), it's when men think jamming their tongue down into your ear is a turn on... yuk! Ever wind up with so much spit in your ear, you felt like you just got out of the swimming pool? (me neither, but the thought has occured to me!)
~autumn Wed, Apr 8, 1998 (15:06) #26
Ha ha, sounds like a wet willy!! I must confess the ear has never been an erogenous zone for moi. (But I've got plenty of other orifices, wer!)
~KitchenManager Wed, Apr 8, 1998 (16:06) #27
Plenty? I can only count five...
~KitchenManager Wed, Apr 8, 1998 (16:17) #28
Oops, sorry, but I just remembered number six, it might be too little though...
~stacey Thu, Apr 9, 1998 (09:53) #29
do we need an 'acceptable erogenous zones' topic, or should we just include that banter under 'sex'?
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 9, 1998 (13:09) #30
Yeah, like trying to restrict it is going work...
~stacey Thu, Apr 9, 1998 (16:30) #31
letting it all hang out...
~Wolf Tue, Apr 14, 1998 (22:10) #32
HAHA!! This was hilarious!! did the naval thing, lasted ten minutes....hurt like hell.... refuse to pierce anything else, not so much as i don't like it as to what i'm willing to expose to be pierced....(got two in each ear), not an erotic place for me, no wet willies pleeeeze! feel like there's drool in my ear drum, yuk!! ok, what about implants?
~KitchenManager Tue, Apr 14, 1998 (22:13) #33
specifically, I was talking about transdermal... although, there are a couple of subdermal that would be cool, as would fangs...
~Wolf Tue, Apr 14, 1998 (22:17) #34
you know they do that now, right? hey, what about those guys/gals who get the hooks in their bods? that gives me the creeps!
~KitchenManager Tue, Apr 14, 1998 (22:23) #35
yep, my response was serious... I could, too, with the right motivation (the hooks and all)
~Wolf Tue, Apr 14, 1998 (22:26) #36
ooooo, wer the vampire *kinky* yeah, like stoned, huh?
~KitchenManager Tue, Apr 14, 1998 (22:30) #37
no, no drugs... the two easiest would be overly sexually stimulated or super-depressed... (vampire? naw, I'd rather have wolf fangs...)
~Wolf Tue, Apr 14, 1998 (22:33) #38
(way cool!) i'd have to be dead before i'd let anyone shove hooks in my bod...just can't imagine myself being staked to a rack with these hooks and pulleys, *shudder*
~mikeg Wed, Apr 15, 1998 (15:13) #39
i've been tempted by a tummy ring for ages, but it's become such a girl-thing in the UK that people would probably question my gender if i did :)) I'm toying with an eyebrow ring at the moment, although i'm unsure. I've been toying with that for about, like, six months now :)
~Wolf Wed, Apr 15, 1998 (17:27) #40
what? no nipple piercing? don't do the eyebrow thing, it'll swell. Guys do their navals here, but many more do the nipple(s). Whatever you do, it'll hurt, so prepare yourself.
~KitchenManager Wed, Apr 15, 1998 (23:25) #41
Had the same gender thing when I got my other ear done, but hey, if'n you're secure in your sexuality, who cares? (and, that's about the only thing I am secure in... I would make one homely crossdresser...)
~Wolf Wed, Apr 15, 1998 (23:28) #42
*giggle*
~stacey Thu, Apr 16, 1998 (09:34) #43
ugh! perish the thought WER!
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 16, 1998 (12:26) #44
which crass, anitsocial thought would that be, Stacey?
~mikeg Thu, Apr 16, 1998 (16:27) #45
yeah. i can imagine my face swelling up like a balloon, but it just looks so cool :)
~Wolf Thu, Apr 16, 1998 (17:31) #46
well, probably better than your tongue swelling up, can you imagine not being able to shut your mouth and drooling everywhere? oh....wait, you can.....(claire danes?)
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 16, 1998 (19:51) #47
tongue swelling lasts about three days... as to claire drooling, who knows?
~Wolf Thu, Apr 16, 1998 (21:14) #48
so you know this from....experience? do you have your tongue pierced wer?
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 16, 1998 (22:07) #49
no, not yet, but I am well read on the subject... and, if you're going to get a piercing, start taking 15 to 30 mgs of zinc a couple of weeks before, as it will help speed the healing...beware, however, it also increases male fertility...
~stacey Fri, Apr 17, 1998 (10:26) #50
looked at a few piercing and tat mags last night... some people can take it a bit far for my tastes!
~Wolf Fri, Apr 17, 1998 (21:01) #51
woo hoo!! When I was in Richmond last year, I checked out some of those mags and, whew! Some people really have balls (know what i mean?)
~Wolf Fri, Apr 17, 1998 (21:02) #52
woo hoo!! When I was in Richmond last year, I checked out some of those mags and, whew! Some people really have balls (know what i mean?) BTW, Stacey, did you see the stuff involving pearls?
~Wolf Fri, Apr 17, 1998 (21:03) #53
(figured I'd say all that stuff again)
~autumn Sun, Apr 19, 1998 (18:23) #54
It bore repeating.
~KitchenManager Mon, Apr 20, 1998 (00:12) #55
and wore it well...
~stacey Mon, Apr 20, 1998 (01:05) #56
and it made me nasueous!!!(sP?)
~mikeg Mon, Apr 20, 1998 (19:11) #57
claire swooning is a big thing. big story re: claire swooning, actually. i went to the most fashionable club on the South Coast last Friday, and met this absolutely unbelievably amazingly swoonily beautiful girl, who I later realised looked a heck of a lot like Claire Danes. And darn me if I didn't let her leave without getting her phone number. But no, there is more. She was with her two sisters (oo-er;), and I walked past one of them today. Maybe. I wasn't sure at first, then I was kind of sure, then I was certain, and by that time it was too late. Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit. This girl has got me, like, all over the place - she keeps popping up in those thought things that I've heard people have. The word for the last five days is: SHIT. :))
~Wolf Mon, Apr 20, 1998 (22:28) #58
ok, go back to the club! *grin*
~stacey Wed, Apr 22, 1998 (16:24) #59
now I'm confused Mike... is this the new woman???
~mikeg Thu, Apr 23, 1998 (18:45) #60
no, its not the new woman, who isn't in fact the new woman, just the new one to chase after. it's all a bit confusing, really :) The new woman (blonde n stuff...I must have mentioned her) is called Naomi; the girl I met in the club is called Sophie. There, we can talk names now :)) and yeah, i'm planning on going back to the club this weekend (24 hours to go!) Whether she'll be there or not is a total hit n miss, but i'm going to try and not even think about it....if she's there, bonus, if not...no problem. :))) I'm planning on having a t-shirt printed with I.D.I.O.T. on it :)
~Wolf Thu, Apr 23, 1998 (20:41) #61
my baby girl is Sophia! (know what it feels like to have "walk all over me" on a t-shirt, actually, run around with a welcome mat wrapped around my middle)
~stacey Fri, Apr 24, 1998 (09:41) #62
ouch. good luck Mike!!!
~Wolf Mon, Apr 27, 1998 (23:04) #63
so??????
~mikeg Tue, Apr 28, 1998 (19:35) #64
nope
~Wolf Tue, Apr 28, 1998 (20:55) #65
nope? nope!? what, you didn't go, she wasn't there? details, give me details!
~mikeg Wed, Apr 29, 1998 (17:12) #66
i went. she wasn't there. but i still had an AMAZING time. i had the most amazingly good weekend of my life, actually, which was very very cool.
~Wolf Wed, Apr 29, 1998 (18:11) #67
WHAT? Without this woman you were beating yourself up over? And....??
~autumn Wed, Apr 29, 1998 (22:08) #68
You're forgetting Naomi, wolf...maybe they're getting to know each other better. Some romances start with a slow simmer, not a rolling boil...
~Wolf Wed, Apr 29, 1998 (22:38) #69
true!
~stacey Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (16:53) #70
and the status MIke????
~Wolf Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (21:58) #71
dunno about him, but back on subject....got an email at work concerning nipple piercing. a young man went and had his done. now he's in ICU and they don't know if he's gonna make it. he's got massive body cavity infections as a result. sound's like they did it wrong or he didn't take care of himself after.
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (22:33) #72
my guess would be both, and probably done at home, too... please do not do this stuff at home, kiddies!!!!!
~Wolf Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (22:44) #73
no, he went to a "body shop." (hi wer)
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (22:46) #74
Really? Do NOT go there for service then. Hiya, toots, whassup?
~Wolf Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (22:49) #75
not much, thought i scared ya with my email. oh, my naval was done at a recommended body shop.
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (22:53) #76
Nope...just been working on other stuff, and hadn't figured out the response you needed the most yet...you doing okay?
~Wolf Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (22:57) #77
yeah. guesso. just kinda mixed up. you been real busy cookin', huh?
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (23:02) #78
sometimes...some of it has been my own head stuff, and some of it has been computer related...not to mention the fact that the wife asked me if you and I had something going on about a week after you got back from your last trip, cause I kept talking about ya since I hadn't heard from you for that month and all...
~Wolf Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (23:05) #79
no worries, mate! (surprised you had so much to say *grin*) are things settled now?
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (23:11) #80
yeah, we moved the computer, and I think she catches glimpses of stuff over my shoulder...everything is fine now, and besides, she's not home at the moment! (lotsa people gonna get a kick out of this conversation tomorrow, huh?) and, hey, at times I'm quite loquacious on here. in person, however, I usually talk less than I do on here. Loads of fun I am...
~Wolf Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (23:15) #81
well, it's that anoniminity thing, i say stuff i probably wouldn't say face-to-face. OK, i take that back, SOME stuff i WOULD say, as age has loosened me up a bit *grin* my husband catches stuff too. just to prove how silly he's being, i say i'm talking to my boyfriend! he knows better because we have fought over this thing for awhile until he finally got it into his head that there's nothing to freak about.
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (23:20) #82
I don't know about the anonymity thing, cause I talk the same way in both places, for me it's more of a higher intelligence per capita quotient on here than in reality...
~Wolf Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (23:22) #83
gotcha, feel the same way too. have more interesting conversations and learn a lot!
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (23:27) #84
if'n you want to or not! so when you leaving again? I thought you'd already be gone...
~Wolf Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (23:28) #85
well, it got moved back a week. now it's next week that i zoom, but we'll see.
~Wolf Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (23:35) #86
am sleepy, night!
~KitchenManager Thu, Apr 30, 1998 (23:36) #87
See ya tomorrow, sweet dreams!
~stacey Fri, May 1, 1998 (17:16) #88
way to ge us back on topic wolf!! (response 71!) *smile* WER, I never know if things are going better for you at home or not and Wolf, you always seem so jolly it's hard to imagine too many 'black clouds' in your life (unless I'm reading through the poetry posts). Either way, hugs to you both. and a neck rub (they always make me feel better!)
~Wolf Fri, May 1, 1998 (19:46) #89
t'anks, i needed that *smile*
~KitchenManager Sat, May 2, 1998 (02:44) #90
Neither do I, Stacey... and thanks for the neck rub... (I owe you one *wink*)
~autumn Sat, May 2, 1998 (16:10) #91
Aww, geez guys, *group hug*...I want all of you to have happiness and peace in your lives (real & virtual). I think our higher intelligence quotient per capita (!) renders us more empathetic than some of the people in our everyday lives...
~mikeg Sat, May 2, 1998 (19:39) #92
my personal tailor (*grin*) had a celtic band tatoo on his arm, and it looks really great. now i'm tempted by that. opinions?
~Wolf Sat, May 2, 1998 (19:51) #93
depends, does he have a weeny arm? do you have a weeny arm? how big is the tatoo? are there any pics of just your arm out there? help me out here!
~mikeg Sat, May 2, 1998 (20:01) #94
not a bad size arm, and getting bigger. not particularly thick (especially from the back), but very well defined. i would say my arms are probably larger than his.
~Wolf Sat, May 2, 1998 (20:05) #95
how big was the tatoo? in width? (and is it something you'd want Claire to see?)
~mikeg Sat, May 2, 1998 (20:09) #96
probably about half an inch wide claire? she'd probably love it ;)
~Wolf Sat, May 2, 1998 (20:12) #97
get as much info as you can, make an educated decision....(and go to a good place!)
~Wolf Sun, May 3, 1998 (23:19) #98
anybody see tattoos and skin on tbs tonight? don't think y'all are gonna catch me in a body shop anytime soon. and they had branding! some gal has a thing for fans (talkin' cool ya off fans) and had a metal press of a box fan. anyway, she had her fan custom made to accomodate branding (they didn't heat up the metal deal and press that in) the brander drew up a template of the box fan then took metal sticks, heated them with a propane lighter and....well, i don't need to go there.
~Wolf Sun, May 3, 1998 (23:36) #99
gots a question, you know how some folks wear an ornament between the eyes, right at the top of their nose? well, does that bar deal gro all the way through the skin? since the skin is pretty tight there, how do they pierce it?
~pmnh Sun, May 3, 1998 (23:37) #100
