Astrology outlook for the month Astrological overview: The biggest news, I would suppose, has to do with Mr. Saturn, old man fate himself, at least old man fate of the astrological milieu. He gets up to the doorway into the tropical zodiac sign of Gemini, and stops. In the real world, he doesn't actually stop, but his relative motion to our planet, it appears like he stops. At that point called "zero Gemini." Jupiter is in Gemini, and starting to slow down some, too, and this is compounded by Mars spending the duration of the month in Leo, and Venus just barely squeaks all the way through Libra. The rest of the stuff is pretty much the same, nothing new here. It looks like Virgo starts around the 23rd of this month. As long as Mars is in Leo, he's going to put some extra pressure on you, at one point or another. So this month, even though you're done with Saturn for a month or so, you still have a contentious Mars thing to deal with. Mars is like the late summer heat here in Austin -- it's good for baking things on the sidewalk, but this type of heat also drives the animals to do strange things. I've seen fish literally jump into boats at times like this. Now, in your own Taurus world, you might try to make this a little more sporting. You get this sudden feeling of relief as Saturn makes his exit. Then, like those fish, you might do something a little too exuberant. This is the combination of Mars and Saturn, sudden relief, and then a sudden burst of energy -- perhaps a sudden burst in the wrong direction. When you get to celebrating this month, try to find a designated driver. It's a matter of finding some rational way of blowing off steam, not irrational, not this month. We ain't quite done with Saturn for good, just for a few weeks. Gemini : Hello Gemini! This is a test. This is only a test. This is not an actual emergency. This is not the end of the world. This IS a certified welcome message to what the next few years might be like, if you are willing to go for it. It's a simple message, and it has to do with the new order that's coming along soon enough. This isn't something that is happening right away, but you get the minimalist taste of Saturn right now. The only problem is that Jupiter is already here, and he's just the opposite of being a minimalist, he's the territorial expansion king. Besides, like I alluded to before, this is only the smallest hint of what it could be like. Saturn is willing to work with you, if you are willing to tighten up and display a little bit more self-discipline. So consider this month as a trial run, a quick test, an opportunity to see what it is that needs preparation for the big one coming up. And use this month wisely, it can be full of all sorts of prurient fun. Cancer : There's really only one image that I can conjure up for this month, at least, for Cancer. It's a pretty good image, too, but it's also a little tired. The image is tired, not the Cancer in the image. It's that old bumper sticker slogan, "If this trailer's rocking, don't come knocking." What your astrology looks like this month is that your house on wheels is a veritable party pad, and almost every night this month, you should be enjoying rock and roll. It's going to be a such an active month -- you might consider taking time off just so you can sleep in late and enjoy the crush of the masses. It's a party time, and as long as both the Sun and Mars are in Leo, and even at the very end, when the Sun goes into Virgo, it's still a good time to play. In fact, having fun, and hanging out is the best thing to do all month long. The nasty influences are over, if only for a short time, but as long as the bad stuff is out of your way, you can imitate the actions of the mighty Leo, and party on! Leo : There's always one special Leo, and that person knows just exactly who she is. Happy birthday. Whew, got that out of the way. Now, let's look at your planets: Mars. Mars starts out in Leo, winds up in Leo, and doesn't do much else but spend a lot of time in Leo this month. While this might be a good influence, I was listening to some old dance music the other day, and I was amazed at how far we haven't come. The track had a sample of something that sounded like a bad science fiction "Space Ray from Mars" noise, and that's what this month is like. That noise which sounds like a B-movie sound clip is really Mars doing two things. On the one hand, Mars can be really irritating. On the flip side of that other hand, Mars can give you energy. I'm hoping that the musical allusion this month, a reminder of old stuff, and maybe it's a space ray that's going to lend you lots of energy, time and ability to get everything done. I just really hope it's not some sort of deadly blast "death ray" from some kind of alien machine. With Mars, it could happen, but back to musical allusion, in the weird movie "Mars Attacks" it was a cowboy music yodel that saved the day. Music might be the best elixir this month. Virgo : Happy birthday! Okay, so Virgo doesn't start until August 23, more or less, but still, here's to a happy birthday thought. Notice that it's a single thought, and that sort of sets the tone for this month because you wind up getting preoccupied with just one thought this month. That's a bit of a problem. Your razor sharp, always exact Virgo mental process gets latched onto one thing, one process and instead of tracking two or three things at a time, you are intent on that one item. Every watch the serious old fisherman, down at the creek? These guys can have two or three lines in the water at a time. You would benefit this month from trying the same thing. Consider the odds, and and figure that you can't have more than one fish strike any of those lines at the same time. So if you were to spread yourself out a little, maybe try more than one fishing pole this month, you might improve the odds for a truly odd month. Libra : I was seeking professional assistance with a perceived mental problem at one point, and what I discovered was that the psychiatrist was crazier than me. I realize it's a bit of a stretch, but you have clear picture here. Now, this month, you're going to discover that the so-called "experts" whom you seek for advice and counsel turn out to be more whacked than you. At one point, you're going to sit there, scratch you're head, and wonder, "Has the whole world gone nuts?" In fact, I do believe that it has, at least, from your Libra point of view. There's a trick to this month, and there's a special trick I learned from being a real Fishing Guide (to the Stars) which will help with the Libra month: don't be afraid to listen to the non-experts. You probably know what works best, but the experts are more apt to lead you astray this month, and the rank amateurs, the folks with nothing to lose, they are the ones in the know. Be alert to "alternative" sources of wisdom this month. Scorpio : I was going to warm you up with a little Scorpio sarcasm, but this isn't a month when your fine sense of humor and alert mental facilities are willing to bend to my twisted jokes. Or anyone else's jokes, for that matter. So rather than taking spurious potshots at Scorpio, I guess I should just fairly warn you about Mars in Leo. Or, for that matter, the host of other planets trailing along in Leo, as well. Leo is a nice sign (not as nice as Scorpio, but don't tell the Leo's that). But Leo and the other stuff that follows it this month just doesn't quite "sit right" with Scorpio this month. Of course, the "sitting" part of this month is also out. There's going to be a conflict or two this month. Something you don't feel like taking sitting down. Rant and rave, storm about, or do a typical Scorpio thing and stew in it for while. Either way, the easiest approach is to resolve not resolve the problem right now because you might not be able to clearly separate the problem from its cause this month. I'm on the Scorpio side, this month, but at one point, it's going to feel like it's ONLY you and me. Sagittarius : A lot of astrologers have told me that this is a wonderful month for Sagittarius because "Leo this" and "Leo that" and so forth. Right, this certainly looks wonderful on paper. But over in another quadrant of the astrological sky, long after sunset, you can see the Sagittarius problem: Jupiter. It's not so bad that he's in Gemini, but it is going to cause a certain degree of consternation. And this feeling is roughly equivalent to the time honored Sagittarius tradition, that "It's better over there." It doesn't matter where "over there" is, "here" seems to be a less than salubrious place to be. Here's a trick I've discovered that works really well, it's an old Fang Sway concept: realign the axis of your trailer this month. Change north and south, east and west. It's like rearranging your furniture, only, you don't have to move a thing. This is why a Sagittarius is usually happiest with a "home on wheels," as it were. If you can just change the way you look at things, perhaps have the lake view out of the west side of the trailer instead of the east side, you'll find a way to scratch that "over there" itch without too much trouble. Capricorn : I cheat when I use Shakespeare quotes. I have several books which are just for quotations, I have a database of my favorite quotes, I have the "Complete Works" in various formats (abridged, unabridged, digital, textbook, handy reference manual, individual plays, the poem, the sonnets, literary criticism editions and the list goes on). When I need a special quote for a certain moment, I can usually call something up from one of the handy references. This is from one of my favorite plays, Henry the Fifth: "Ay, leeks is good." (V.i.58) What does all this have to do with Capricorn? Like the leeks, this is a good month. There are a number of things to rejoice, take your pick. Just about any of the planetary doings are going to be good for you this month. Now, the quote has a lot to do with this month, though, there's a certain quality about this month, and certain feeling about how everything is good, too. You're doing fine. But if you're munching on leeks, you might not find yourself welcome in our face. If it's such a good month for you, you don't need to rub it in, or breath heavily in the face of the rest of us. Got the idea? This month is sort of like a guilty pleasure that you have a hard time concealing. Enjoy it anyway. Aquarius : This month does not get off to a good start. This month is like one of those mornings that you are supposed to get up and get going, and you just roll over for a few moments more rest, only to awake hours later. The problem is, in a panic, you realize that you've overslept, and that ruins the extra four hours of sleep you just got. And that's what the month starts with. It's a little bump in the astrological road, but we'll both get over this small problem before too long. After that, the month motors along in a much better form. About the time Virgo starts, you're going to assume that you're in the clear. I would be remiss in my duties, though, if I suggested it was all clear sailing. Nope, there's a nasty little pothole in the astrology road that comes up at the end of the month, too. So even though you start feeling better, there's still no reason to go careening along at a dangerous high speed. In fact, I recommend paying close attention to the posted speed limits at the end of the month. There's no use in trying to cover that extra ground you lost at the beginning of the month by rushing too fast at the end of the month. Slow down to avoid both the cop with the radar gun AND that pothole. Thank me in September. Pisces : There's something special about this month. It's a time for Pisces to start planning and preparing. I want Pisces to take a long look and view the final third of the year as a project. It's time to consider what's up. It's time to make some long term prognostications. There's a way to make a serious buck off some of the present events. There's a way to move yourself ahead, and you want to consider how to position yourself at this time. There's some good stuff, right around the astrological corner. The problem is that it's still summer in the Northern Hemisphere, and whether that's you're location or not, it's time to start pulling the odd and disparate bits together for the finally sprint to the end of the year. In Texas, I expect to find a Pisces or two, sweltering away in the garage and working on the "next big thing" which is a Pisces plan to get rich and conquer the world. (I hope that includes a safe place for Sagittarius astrologers, too, a mere 1% of the gross would be fine, thank you.) The difficulty with this month is a serious of little events that seem to block your path. Step over these obstacles, and keep thinking about the big picture.
