What is the most happening conference on the Spring and what makes it so hot?
~KitchenManager Fri, May 14, 1999 (13:23) #1
that's easy...drool dedication, enthusiasm, constant promotion by participants and hosts on other sites
~terry Fri, May 14, 1999 (18:21) #2
gotta go with drool, alright. What conference is next in popularity and activity? food? cultures? porch? or?
~wolf Fri, May 14, 1999 (18:43) #3
~wolf Fri, May 14, 1999 (18:44) #4
oops, pressed the wrong button *smile*
~wolf Fri, May 14, 1999 (18:45) #5
it's drool, can't keep up with it *woohoo* way to go droolers! hey, is there, like, an award? you know spring's hottest conference?
~terry Fri, May 14, 1999 (19:13) #6
No question, drool. And they support us with contributions too. Over $350 in contributions from drooleurs last month alone, which paid our whole Internet bill for a month.
~KitchenManager Fri, May 14, 1999 (19:35) #7
apps probably has the next largest group of posters, albeit they are an irregular bunch...
~wolf Fri, May 14, 1999 (21:08) #8
i've got a disk coming in from netstudio, i'll see if i can make an award!
~terry Sat, May 15, 1999 (08:54) #9
apps gets the traffic from cws.internet.com which is Forrest Stroud's Consummate Winsock Apps site. It gets a coupla million hits a day. And he has every review he writes linked to a conference topic (close to 400 of them I think). I've never got the traffic from this source that you would expect. It's very sporadic traffic. At one time, I thought a commerce site could be built around this conference.
~MarciaH Fri, Jul 2, 1999 (00:12) #10
Lets hear it for the Ladies in Drool. And the occasional gentleman. We are a very special group - but not more than you are! We worry about you, too. I am delighted they are doing well by you, Terry, but I shall keep up the vigilance. We just could not do without Drool and Spring!
~terry Fri, Jul 2, 1999 (00:24) #11
I applaud the ladies of drool. That conference sizzles!
~MarciaH Fri, Jul 2, 1999 (00:55) #12
Perhaps as you grind that peanut gluten you could ponder why it is that I found eloquent men puzzling why Drooleurs did not frequent their site (the semi-dreary one of My Life Today.) Do the men from "down here" lurk in Drool to see what we talk about? Are we embarrassing them? Some of it gets rather um...adult in content. Nothing escapes our scrutiny! I have brought several lurkers into the ranks of posters lately. Shall the men be next? We welcome their input
~wolf Fri, Jul 2, 1999 (18:59) #13
yes yes, and the ladies are invited to post in babes (hey, i do!) and we start our own babe topics too! (you know, to see if the babe chasers are paying attention)
~KitchenManager Sat, Jul 3, 1999 (01:18) #14
and we usually are...
~terry Sat, Jul 3, 1999 (01:52) #15
We men are so low level compared to the drooleurs, with your literary slant and eloquence. Sometimes our adulation comes down to honking at pretty girl crossing the street. We're so hopeless when it comes to expressing our admiration. And we just haven't been able to match your *intensity*, ya know. Who is the femaile counterpart or equivalent of say a Colin Firth? I stutter when I try to explain drool to folks, what should I tell them other than ordinarily sensible women who have temporarily lost their minds over the likes of Colin Firth and others?
~KitchenManager Sat, Jul 3, 1999 (15:40) #16
ponder ponder ponder
~MarciaH Sun, Jul 4, 1999 (21:32) #17
Expecting something brilliant from all that pondering, wer! Terry, you are selling the men short. I have read their postings in Philosophy and in Books. They are eloquent, incisive and reflective. We need more of that in this world. As to Drooleurs, I never admit to anyone who knows me in person (including my son)where I spend endless hours. I can think of no other indivudual who has caused so much to be written both in fact and in fiction on the net. (OK, time to post all the ones I am not noticing! I cannot explain it - but it continues to happen as a new generation of young ladies discover this most admirable of men (not counting the men reading this.) *smile* Wolf, I'm on my way over to Babes to add my two cents worth. Thanks for telling me.
~MarciaH Sun, Jul 4, 1999 (21:39) #18
(Terry)what should I tell them other than ordinarily sensible women who have temporarily lost their minds over the likes of Colin Firth and others? What else is there to say? I am beginning to wonder how temporary it is, though. Going on several years now, I think it is becoming a permanent condition!
~MarciaH Sun, Jul 4, 1999 (21:44) #19
BTW, *What* others? you mean there are other men being drooled over up there?!
~KitchenManager Mon, Jul 5, 1999 (01:06) #20
good point
~MarciaH Mon, Jul 5, 1999 (01:09) #21
Which one?
~MarciaH Mon, Jul 5, 1999 (16:41) #22
How did we Firthians come to get the name Drool for our conference? It is not a name I would have necessarily have chosen - though I do my share of it with some regularly!
~terry Tue, Jul 6, 1999 (07:46) #23
Y'all can have more conferences if you need them. You could have a conference called firth if you wanted. There's already a bronte and and austen conference, though they have very little traffic compared to their heyday.
~wolf Tue, Jul 6, 1999 (10:22) #24
i was wondering about that......actually, it's a great idea for firth since there are so many topics concerning him in drool. they could just title the conference firthing (or something) and move those topics specifically about him over there. whatcha think droolers? i had wondered about that for collecting. barbie is big out there on the net. but i'd only want a new conference when we get those collector's to come a chat with us. (which, i'm working on)
~KitchenManager Tue, Jul 6, 1999 (12:01) #25
just let me know when I need to set them up...
~MarciaH Wed, Jul 7, 1999 (14:30) #26
Getting the lurkers to post is a time-consuming business. I know; I do a lot of it through individual email and have had some success. Firthing (love that term!)comes and goes with what the man is doing and whether A&E or the BBC has just rebroadcast Pride and Prejudice. Right now, it is slow, but many regular posters are offline on holiday. Let us see what activity Fall brings.
~quimby Sat, Aug 7, 1999 (18:16) #27
Stumbled across this...I've long thought it would be good to change Drool as you're suggesting. It's tiresome to accidently end up on some strange topic ;-) Not that there's anything wrong with Mel Gibson, but ...and it would load quicker for newbies who don't know how to zero in on certain boards, recent messages. Waiting for that whole list (expecially the first 40 or so) of topics, well, it's not cooled anyone's ardo but if it's all the same to ya'll. Easy for me to say, I don't have to do anything :-)
~quimby Sat, Aug 7, 1999 (18:18) #28
PS Marcia I came out recently. Inspired by your antics, I mean, eloquence, as described by the gentlemen above.
~MarciaH Sat, Aug 7, 1999 (20:54) #29
LOL Ann....too funny. You are not the first to join my escapades and I appreciate your mentioning them. BTW, Welcome to Spring and to Drool. I am hanging out at Geo lately. Peek in there too, sometime http://www.spring.net/yapp-bin/restricted/browse/geo/all
~MarciaH Sat, Aug 7, 1999 (21:52) #30
Dear, You need to go into Drool this way http://www.spring.net/yapp-bin/restricted/browse/drool/all/new
~KarenR Sat, Aug 7, 1999 (23:49) #31
So this is where you all hang out to talk about us? ;-D The phenom that is Drool. If is ain't broke, no need to do any fixin, unless you want to take care of a few of our posters. I won't tell if you won't! And quimby, dear, do use that url that Marcia supplied and Drool will load quicker and without the other old stuff.
~KarenR Sat, Aug 7, 1999 (23:51) #32
Shush, I wasn't here.
~KitchenManager Sun, Aug 8, 1999 (01:02) #33
okay...I didn't see a thing...
~quimby Sun, Aug 8, 1999 (03:05) #34
Thanks, but I meant "those" newbies. (Me in the past.) Currently I go to the actual address [blah blah blah/# of topic.# of message]. Super quick to load. And Marcia, I was looking for your Geo url. Thanks for giving it to me on a silver platter. Since these responses came so much quicker than I imagined, I'll repeat a request I put on another topic: can anybody help me with telnet? I can get connected, but once I'm in my own subdirectory I'm clueless. I must confess I've always had a menu once I get that far. I'm eager to learn how to do it from scratch, but I can't find any instructions anywhere, and I hate to bother Terry more than is absolutely necessary. Suggestions? TIA
~quimby Sun, Aug 8, 1999 (03:06) #35
Really quimby, just thought this user showing up as a new message might interest someone. I'm shameless.
~quimby Sun, Aug 8, 1999 (03:07) #36
I kind of like it. I'll check to see if it's available ;-)
~MarciaH Sun, Aug 8, 1999 (13:36) #37
Telnet/quimby, you gotta stop talking to yourself. Monday, when the regular telnetters log in you will get your answer.
~aschuth Mon, Aug 9, 1999 (04:34) #38
Or question!
~quimby Mon, Aug 9, 1999 (12:37) #39
Thanks to help from Terry, I telnetted for the first time yesterday. Sort of like taking your first step. I was using two other telnet things, but I got the one Terry recommended somewhere. BTY the link to download there wasn't good anymore, but it was easy to find the old fashioned way (cnet download). I've been accomplishing things left and right since then: put together 2 new 1500-cd "book"cases, set up a new quadrant of my new computer, etc. I often get a boost at Spring, and you never know how or here it'll come ;-) Long way to go to being a good telnetter, but it's fun to learn.
~MarciaH Mon, Aug 9, 1999 (13:21) #40
Happy to hear you are getting through ok. If Terry cannot help you, I guess no one can as regards things Spring. Despite the "Ann" I called you a few days ago, I am happy to see you back, and I do know you....=) Indeed, you are no newbie!
~aschuth Tue, Aug 10, 1999 (08:58) #41
MARCIA! Stop calling people names! Quimby - or may I say, Miss Telnet?-, don't take offense. One gets used to it, and she doesn't mean ill. Some people, she even calls "William", others "Dear" or "Sweetie", or says things like "Thank you!", can you believe that! We don't mind that much, because we know that deep down, there has to be a friendly soul or something... ;=}
~terry Tue, Aug 10, 1999 (10:19) #42
Lot's of people here can help you if I'm out of pocket. I would dread being the only one who could help people. Ray, Marcia, William, Stacey, and bunches of folks here are helpful, not to mention kind and courteous.
~KitchenManager Tue, Aug 10, 1999 (11:28) #43
Yep, we don't want to mention those last two...
~KitchenManager Tue, Aug 10, 1999 (11:32) #44
but we do want to mention Karen and Heide and Wolf and Alexander and Autumn (although she probably won't agree) and...and...and... (why is this starting to sound like an acceptance speech? I want to start thanking everyone...)
~aschuth Tue, Aug 10, 1999 (11:46) #45
(Well, do, if you feel like it... But don' think you'll get away scot-free when Autumn finds out about her ranking just after me and before And... Of course you simply MUST rank me after the girls, but do I see the word "Mikey" here somewhere? Do I?)
~aschuth Tue, Aug 10, 1999 (11:47) #46
(Oh, there is is: Response 45, fifth-last word!)
~KitchenManager Tue, Aug 10, 1999 (12:54) #47
see...just like an acceptance speech, somebody gets left out... and, of course, Mike!!!
~aschuth Tue, Aug 10, 1999 (14:32) #48
(datta ma boy!)
~KitchenManager Tue, Aug 10, 1999 (14:55) #49
aw, shucks!
~autumn Fri, Aug 13, 1999 (23:03) #50
On behalf of the Academy, we are proud to bestow this honor upon you...
~MarciaH Fri, Aug 13, 1999 (23:45) #51
Speech...!
~aschuth Sun, Aug 15, 1999 (05:20) #52
...less?
~MarciaH Sun, Aug 15, 1999 (13:58) #53
*lol* I think so!
~quimby Mon, Aug 23, 1999 (20:00) #54
Marcia, you can call me anything, as you well know. I'm secure in my identity, it's all the same to me. Miss Telnet? Did I win a contest? Do I get a crown? I always wanted one of those ribbon things. So handy if people forget your name. One caveat, Alex(ander): I will deign to rule for a time only if I don't have to be on good behavior, and if you promise not to strip me of my title if, you know, pictures which look like me but couldn't possibly be me because I am a good girl, if those kinds of pictures show up. After Vanessa's experience, I've taken to turning down honors of any sort. I guess that makes me dis-honorable tee hee. BTW, over what do I rule? Of what am I a breathtaking example? Of what domain am I mistress? And why does We get to do the acceptance speech? I don't know him; is he a potential rival for Miss Telnet? I understand he cooks but that is v. masculine, to me. And Terry-thanks for the list of people to bug.
~quimby Mon, Aug 23, 1999 (20:00) #55

~quimby Mon, Aug 23, 1999 (20:01) #56
Oh my. I'd better stick to telnetting.
~MarciaH Mon, Aug 23, 1999 (20:46) #57
As close as I can tell, virtual sexuality being what it is, Wer is most assuredly all male. Uh...no. He is not a potential rival for any Miss Telnet. I see that you miss Alexander, too. September, he promised me, he would be back because his quarterly issue would be put to bed by that time. Until then, he is all work and no Spring or email, for that matter. I shall call you anything but your real name - there are a lot of Drooleurs who use euphemisms and whatever you wish shall be what I call you...excepting your real name...(betcha thought I didn't know!) Hey, pop up to 72 and I can crown you with whatever you'd like that I can find on the internet. That is where Evelyn got hers and Gi and other, too.
~ratthing Mon, Aug 23, 1999 (22:25) #58
i've had the pleasure of meeting William f2f and can say that he is definitely male. either that, or that is one ugly, hairy-legged woman.
~MarciaH Mon, Aug 23, 1999 (22:28) #59
*lol*
~KitchenManager Mon, Aug 23, 1999 (22:40) #60
Amen!
~MarciaH Mon, Aug 23, 1999 (22:49) #61
I always thought guys were supposed to be like that...
~aschuth Tue, Aug 24, 1999 (12:50) #62
...ugly women?
~MarciaH Tue, Aug 24, 1999 (13:57) #63
No...no...no! Furry and different from women. Not like ugly women...besides, there are no ugly women, there are just women who do not make the best of what God has given them...*smile*
~aschuth Wed, Aug 25, 1999 (15:00) #64
So, in the US, if it's ugly, it's male?
~MarciaH Wed, Aug 25, 1999 (16:07) #65
Not if it is me you are asking...! I adore big massive hunks of furry (or not) pulchritude of the XY chromosome variety. My life would me much poorer without them in it.
~quimby Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (00:21) #66
Marcia: I was quite certain you knew, ergo some of my comments. As a Power That Bes, I know you're aware of, well, probably everything. And I have been called quite a bit ;-) Ray: No Tony Curtis, huh? Not even a Jack Lemmon? I won't ask why you _had_ to have a f2f. I'm sure it was a v. good reason. Marcia: I say it's women who just happen not to have much money. It's amazing what a little professional advice can do; that, and not worrying about the electricity being turned off on your seven children while you're at work for 16 hours six days a week. Alexander: Here, male beauty is celebrated far more than female. Not that that originated here, of course. So, William, I'm prepared to work up some sort of joint-rule thingy, Ray's opinion notwithstanding. It's much better when you have company. Oh and Marcia, you do have some lovely crowns. Maybe one for reviewing the troops (one of my favorite hobbies) and a simple tiara for playing basketball. I'll start window shopping 72.
~MarciaH Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (01:09) #67
Oh I do get around and have contacts all over the place, you are quite right. But might not a triumverate be alright. A wise woman and a younger telnetter and William...for the third?! I can whip up suitable garb and attendant lackeys for the job. How do you think that might be? Always flexible, my dear ;)
~MarciaH Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (01:10) #68
and, quimby, Sooooo much better than tony Curtis.....
~quimby Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (04:17) #69
I'm always flexible. I wouldn't mind a triumvirate if I was (were?) the only woman, wise or not ;-) I always envied Charlotte Rampling. But then maybe you're right, lackeys may be the way to go. I've seen your taste in lackeys (or was that Gi's, the force on the beach welcoming your ship?) Let's check with William. Perhaps he's otherwise engaged (don't want a Prince C on our hands now, do we?) Many people are better than Tony Curtis, but Tony Curtis in a dress? If you say he's ok, ok by me.
~quimby Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (04:19) #70
So Marcia were you at Ray and William's little tete a tete? Is that how you know?
~quimby Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (04:20) #71
As you know, I'm easy.
~ratthing Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (08:09) #72
it was around the first part of this year that i had to go to Austin on business. i only had one morning meeting, so i arranged to have lunch with terry, then drove over to little italy to meet william. the neat thing about all of this was that all of the locations i had to go to were all within about 3 miles of each other! talk about luck. both terry and william are extremely pleasant guys. terry had me out-geeked with two cell phones, one of which could access then net. i was surprised at how big william was. not fat big, just big. had i not been dieting, i would have asked about some free pizza or spaghetti! ;)
~stacey Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (10:43) #73
no... get the tiramisu!!!
~MarciaH Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (12:12) #74
Thanks for the description, Ray...I am most interested in your findings. Now, if you had only taken a digital camera instead of those phones....*smile* Some day, before I die, I must try this edible orgasm...!
~stacey Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (12:22) #75
as should everyone else!
~MarciaH Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (12:24) #76
Charlotte, I was not at the tete-a-tete, unfortunately, and alas...but I do have good sources and he shall not wear a dress unless there is something I have not yet learned about him...(no whalebone corsets or lace pantaloons, either)...This is one of those things you will have to take my word on...and wait for his comments when he is less busy...!
~MarciaH Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (14:00) #77
Sheesh, next thing I will be calling you is cheryl ;)
~KitchenManager Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (14:04) #78
I've been know to wear a skirt, though...
~MarciaH Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (14:10) #79
ummm...would you care to elucidate on that comment??? I am all curiosity!
~aschuth Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (16:49) #80
(Hint: Look at Laughing Sky's Cloud!) Charlene, I did not get that remark... Where'd it come from, then?
~MarciaH Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (17:02) #81
Alexander, where is this cloud at which we are supposed to look?
~aschuth Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (17:39) #82
...where all things are explained! Yours mysteriously, A. (Or ask the mighty Pasquina!)
~MarciaH Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (17:50) #83
Alas, again...where all things are explained is not available today (so far) so I cannot ask for crucial questions plaguing me. I cannot imagine...(have I gotten him that wrong?!)
~quimby Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (21:25) #84
Ray- To meet them both! It sounds nice. You'd figure they'd be pleasant. And charmingly, attractively geeky. First trip to Texas? Never been there. I grew up in the South, but of course Texas isn't the South. Somehow the idea of a Little Italy in Austin is, well, new and confusing to me. I know Boston's Little Italy and New York's Little Italy but now I have this new concept to ponder. So William is a lumberjack sort of fellow, or you're just saying that to make Marcia happy? And you don't want to be a lu berjack sort of fellow? Stacey- So you're close to these guys? The tiramisu--what makes it so special? Marcia- But what about a kilt? I'm crazy about kilts. I'm always so impressed to see a guy running around in a kilt or a (what are those wrap things Michael Stipe wears?) It should come as no surprise that I actually own Braveheart, and that my vacation plans include the home of Patrick Stewart. Did anybody see him on Saturday Night Live a few years back? Anyway, I'm glad you don't think I'd have to share my lace, and that he wouldn't dislodge his organs by wearing a whalebone corset. You don't want to rule with an idiot. You might as well call me Cheryl, since she's gone forever. Off editing a film, I heard. I doubt if I could fill her shoes, though. Or maybe you were thinking of Cheryl Sneed? Reminds me of something to share with the class re leaving a board: http://www.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/Forum4/HTML/000629.html Pertinent exchange: killboy and karlvonl. What would you like to be called, Marcia? I mean that won't get us in trouble with the net nannies. Wer, yes, please elucidate. Please. A. Sorry, sometimes when I'm tired I'm tiresome. As I learned to say in NY: fuggedaboudit. As to your question, Greece :-) I guess the Cloud is from your shared past....and I'm left out....oh well. Pasquina? Que pasa?
~quimby Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (21:26) #85
Please.
~MarciaH Thu, Aug 26, 1999 (21:39) #86
How about Cheryl Eliot? or not...off traipsing the world with clipboard in hand behind someone making vast amounts of money with which he is sharing not enough with you...or your doppleganger...?! Cloud is in here somewhere if you read back far enough, as is all sorts of embarrassing information we wish would stay buried. Re the kilt. when you are too poor to afford one you wrap the plaid (a piece of fabric, not a pattern) - usually tartan (the pattern) around your waist and throw the rest around your shoulders. That was what he was wearing in Braveheart, as far as I know...but you did not work on that picture?! (oh yes, Nostromo.....!) Call me what you will. I answer to Mom, but only from my son and his friends. No one else calls me anything...including not calling me honey, sweetheart, love, or anything else nice. Marcia it is, I'm afraid, unless you think of something the rest did not! Saw Patrick Stweart on SNL, indeed! He should be on my Male Babes List. hmmmmm...leave anything out?
~quimby Fri, Aug 27, 1999 (03:20) #87
From a discussion at the top of the board: Paul Terry Walhus We men are so low level compared to the drooleurs, with your literary slant and eloquence. Sometimes our adulation comes down to honking at pretty girl crossing the street. We're so hopeless when it comes to expressing our admiration. And we just haven't been able to match your *intensity*, ya know. Who is the femaile counterpart or equivalent of say a Colin Firth? ... Marcia ...Terry, you are selling the men short. I have read their postings in Philosophy and in Books. They are eloquent, incisive and reflective. We need more of that in this world. As to Drooleurs, I never admit to anyone who knows me in person (including my son)where I spend endless hours.... Terry, most of us don't have a LS & E. And men can 'spress pretty good--all those writers and poets throughout the ages. 'Course they didn't have cars... Maybe it's the person one is interested in. There may be Schwartzenegger boards somewhere, but you'd run out of things to say pretty quickly, I'd imagine. If the "love interest" isn't very interesting, well, can't make a silk purse... But it's also the individual people in a community. If the admirers aren't very interesting themselves...'nuff said. Nevertheless, you could be an interesting fellow and still not care about a conference. If you're not interested in admiring someone verbally for fun (who is interesting and keeps re-earning your admiration), if you'd rather do your taxes than talk about someone you can't have but appreciate, then why waste time when you could be doing something you enjoy? When you could be working towar something you can have? You can spend your time on tech boards where you share info and master something. Or you could go to the beach. I can't speak for anybody else in Firthland, and I'm not the typical person there for various reasons. But nobody in Firthland is typical compared to the people in your everyday life, and neither is he. That's the fun. It's a pleasure to talk to cool gals under any circumstances, and here there are so many of them under one roof. It's great to add to your fantasy life with no downside; nobody here (as far as I can tell) mixes this up with reality. And I find it, um, adds to your real life. To me the whole thing proves once again that nice guys don't finish last, if they're truly nice and not pretending or deluded. There are better looking actors and better actors and richer actors, but who cares? Who he's decided to be, and works hard at being, touches me. The whole package is worth noting, and I spend time I don't have doing so. The net lets us find people who have similar values. That's what makes for a smokin' conference. That, and knowing the guy would be great in bed.

CE? Nah. Too boring and pompous. And she was always a troublemaker. I'll always dig for dirt, but it clearly isn't on this topic. I guess I'll have to be like Kenneth Branagh in *sigh* A Month in the Country. Well now all this kilt stuff is fascinating. BH is so ridiculous, but who cares. Also, in your part of the world, do guys wear sarongs? And if not, why not? I called you sweetie. Does that mean I'm a.) in the doghouse or b.) extraordinarily imaginative or c.) all of the above? Ah yes, Jean Luc. One of the benefits of the Big Apple is actually running into him a couple of times (and I do mean running; we both walk very quickly.) He loves NY. And he glows. I don't think it's from the dilithium crystals. Maybe it's the matter-anti-matter drive.

Ok, the cloud IS where everything is explained - and Alexander and the mighty Pasquina have their homes - in Screwed, of course... Greece - I guessed that... Just wanted to hear it from your lips (or tips - finger tips, that is...). Gotta run, bye!
~stacey Fri, Aug 27, 1999 (09:36) #90
so much action in so little time... what the in the hell were we talking about anyway? or was this a convert effort to turn THIS topic in the hottest conferenece on the Spring?! All the Cheryl versus Cheryl vs doppelgangers is beyond me... so I throw up my hands in imagined helplessness and move on... btw quimby... the 'then why waste time when you could be doing something you enjoy?' comment I found brilliant and thrilling. And although I profess to take that attitude 24/7, I think I lie to myself frequently about what I enjoy... in other words, I needed to hear that affirmation/reprimand/mantra from another... thanks! Re: do I know 'these guys'... well... never met Ray had the pleasure of meeting WER, tasting his culinary delights and meeting his family a couple years back... certainly a pleasure and NO he doesn't look like a lumberjack! Big, yes, burly, no... I used to work with Paul many moons ago, and it was he who introduced me to the fine world of virtuality. (I also started a silly rumor, using an offhand post, that Paul was my cousin... *grin*) blah, blah, blah... oh... the tiramisu... I've previously described it as "an edible orgasm"... YOU decide what's so special about that!

Now I am also lost. What is attitude 24/7 ? I have seen it referenced before, but did not figure it out then, either. I think it is time to find something else to do. I am beginning to chase my own tail and people will get very tired of seeing my posts everywhere with no interaction. I shall forthwith go out a get a real life and leave this to the people who fine it more enjoyable and less painful than I do at present. Quimby dear, you may call me sweetie anytime you'd like. It makes me feel good that you do, My Dear =) And, you are extraordinarily imaginative...definitely! Men here wear lavalavas (Just below the knee wrap-around "skirts" The Malo is more interesting. It is just like an HAwaiian-print Athletic support...with two little flaps hanging in front and in back. Very...impressive!
~stacey Fri, Aug 27, 1999 (14:44) #92
24/7 refers to 24 hours a day... 7 days a week... in other words... all the time... I was trying to illustrate that the thought is something I should (and try) live by but am not always successful all the time... do'nt go Marcia... i'll miss you... The Malo sounds just wonderful!!!
~MarciaH Fri, Aug 27, 1999 (15:13) #93
Thanks Stace...I just needed a word of encouragement...and you always come through. *Hugs* The Malo is a marvelous thing. I was one of the officers in the UHHilo Booster club last year and there was a tournament (basketball) the evening before which there was Polynesian entertainment for the visiting teams. I was seated right next to the stage. The male dancers stood right above me and I dared not look up at them lest I be seen to be peeking under that flap...but I did anyway...! *LOL* They did not seem to mind, but I am sure I was some shade of pink I had never been before. That was Too up close and personal! Gotcha on the 24/7....sounds like my life at Spring *smile*

"Oh, I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay..." The skirt was worn to a Skatenigs show at the Back Room, btw... burly would be my dad and brother...once again, I'm the runt male in my family...

Gentlemen, I just read the entire topic and I am totally lost on its meaning. Perhaps one must be there to understand the deeper meaning of it all...!
