French fries. Who has the best.

Shady Grove's cheese fries, and/or their green chili cheese fries. WER

Where is Shady Grove?
~KitchenManager Sat, Oct 11, 1997 (23:29) #3
Down on Barton Springs between Lamar and Mopac. WER

OK, down in restaurant row. I've been to a few places along there like Baby Acapulco and there's a silvery diner like place that keeps changing, I wonder what's there now? What are your favorite places along this little corrodor? Is there still a little juice bar there? I was in the coffee shop there and had a good time in there. And I ate at a nice Italian restaurant called Romeos, very decent.

Currently, with what's open, it would have to be Shady Grove. Never tried Romeos, it being the competitor and all. What's your favorite dish of theirs? WER

I was only there a couple of times for a lunch special. Believe me, I'll choose yours over theirs next time I have time to go to an Italian place. (that's your cue to put in a plug for your place). I had some kind of Primavera dish as I remember.

I was wondering when someone was actually going to ask! My home away from home is... Little Italy, on Mesa. Call to see if I'm there before you come in. 345-5761 WER

I used to live on Far West and frequent Little Italy once or twice a month. !Groovy! French fry answer.... the ultimate fries, batter dipped at Hyde Park Grill! Paul, if you've never been to Shady Grove (a sin!) try the Hippie Sandwich! AND a Shady Thang! Oh... I'm so jealous again! Trying to remember what I tried at Little Italy -- eggplant parmesean, linguini with clam sauce, pasta primevera and some bowtie dish with mushrooms, I believe I love the bread, but anytime I get to slather butter over anything, I love it!

I hear Hut's has good fries to go with their (veggie) burgers, but it's been very crowded every time I've tried to go there.
~stacey Thu, Oct 16, 1997 (10:14) #10
They used to have a 2 for one veggie burger nite -- Monday?
~terry Thu, Oct 16, 1997 (10:34) #11
My friend Garrett mentioned that to me, it raves about their veggie burgers. Garrett told me about a great Tex Mex place at the foot of S Congress, but the name escapes me at the moment.

Shady Grove's fries are pretty marvey when paired with a Shady Thang. But Hyde Park is in a realm all it's own with the batter dipped sensations!
~terry Thu, Nov 13, 1997 (16:13) #16
This I must experience first hand.
~stacey Fri, Nov 14, 1997 (10:57) #17
Still never been?!?! Paul, I've been telling you about this place for a LONG time.
~terry Sun, Nov 16, 1997 (23:33) #18
I know, keep after me. You can spank me if I don't make it there by New Years.
~KitchenManager Mon, Nov 17, 1997 (01:44) #19
And you can spank me whenever, just to make sure your technique(s?) doesn't(don't) get rusty.
~stacey Mon, Nov 17, 1997 (11:00) #20
Careful, I might wash your mouths out with soap, before that happens! *smile*
~KitchenManager Mon, Nov 17, 1997 (11:23) #21
Yes, Ms. Vura.
~stacey Mon, Nov 17, 1997 (11:26) #22
Uh Oh.
~terry Mon, Nov 17, 1997 (14:48) #23
He's trying to get one.
~KitchenManager Fri, Nov 21, 1997 (11:06) #24
Bare-handed or with implements?
~stacey Fri, Nov 21, 1997 (11:50) #25
Whoa, I missed the relavent thought tether on that one ... what was the original statement?
~KitchenManager Fri, Nov 21, 1997 (11:54) #26
Spanking.
~stacey Fri, Nov 21, 1997 (12:09) #27
Ah, yes!
~KitchenManager Fri, Nov 21, 1997 (17:58) #28

French Fries. Fados.
~stacey Mon, Oct 28, 2002 (14:41) #30
Years ago, I must have disagreed and mentioned something about Hyde Park's batter coated fries... if I didn't, I am now...
~terry Mon, Oct 28, 2002 (20:17) #31
Reallly, best fries in town right? I think they consistently win the Chronicle award for fries.
~stacey Wed, Oct 30, 2002 (15:12) #32
And they consistently receive a visit from me whenever I make it that far north (from SA, that is!)
