Crop circles, strange clouds, apparitions of Jesus Christ on walls, etc. Let's discuss our theories here.

Ok, let me start off with a personal experience. no lie, back when i lived in Fort Riley Kansas, my family was outside playing in the yard. it was early evening. all of a sudden my dad said "look". so i did and what i saw, i remember to this day like it just happened. in the evening sky, among the relaxed clouds was a strange cloud shape. you know how clouds elongate themselves toward the evening? well, inbetween two such clouds was the profile of what looked like Jesus (or the way we believed Him to loo
). i immediately dropped to my knees. couldn't tell you how long it lasted, but dad and me saw this magnificent site together.
now on to something a bit more recent and an occurrence we have been discussing in geospring: bowling ball size ice-balls falling from the sky over Spain. i did some looking today and here's what i found on reuters:
Comet Debris, Not Excrement, Rains on Spain
MADRID (Reuters) - At least ten melon-sized ice balls that have slammed into Spain in the last week are probably debris from comets, not human excrement as first suspected, a Spanish scientist said Monday.
Enrique Martinez, head of a team at the Higher Council of Scientific Investigation studying the phenomenon, said it was first thought that the ice balls were human excrement ejected from high-flying aircraft.
``But they lack the typical coloring and texture we find in those cases,'' he said.
A man in southern Spain escaped injury last week when an ice ball eight inches across weighing nine pounds smashed into his car. A further nine ice balls have since been reported around Spain over the last week.
strange, eh?

You are one spiritual lady, Wolfie! If I were divine (and I am far from it) I would seek you out for my apparition. I am delighted you shared this with your Dad. I must have been truly awesome!
Now, about that *stuff* which fell on Spain...I remember the guy on TV this morning saying, "Try explaining that to your insurance agent!" I am sure they are thin-sectioning the remains and will put it under a scanning electron microscope which will tell a lot, then into a analyzer for elements and chemicals. I think they will find atmospheric dirt and water.

You'll not like what I just heard on the news. The first few iceballs were real atmospheric oddities. The rest were home made balls created and planted by "pranksters." The real ones are the ones we concentrate on now. Thanks for the photo, Wolfie! Wonder if its the real or or bogus one. No wonder the guy in the lab coat has his hand on his head.

Wolf, you're in royal company... ;=)
In Guralnick's 2-volume Elvis biography, in Vol. II he describes that Elvis was seing Joe Stalin's face in a cloud in the desert. This has credibly been confirmed by his travel companions.
After that, he saw Jesus. This sight was, however, only revealed to him.

Gonna go look and post where both of us can see them. Do we know if "they" are using sacred geometry or magnetic lines like ley lines? See if i can find anything about them tomorrow - have oodles of links from last year. Good thinking!!!

Got the Book and Von Daniken's other books thanks to my Father's interest in just about everything in the world. If you liked the show, you'll love the books! Thanks, wolfie! I just got home from softball and I am exhausted, sunburnt, and elated that we beat Rice University last night in an incredible baseball game, and Hawaii Pacific U in Softball today. Love to discuss the Chariots with you if you'd like.

Well, the committee is still out on that. He seems to see space men as explaining everything he does not understand. He has taken a lot of flack from the mainline Archaeologists and historians. He spawned a whole school of immitators and I ave their books, as well. Want 'um? I'll send you the entire batch! Read his stuff with a huge pinch of skepticism.

We also need a copy of "Crash Go the Chariots" whose author's name escapes me. It was the sane and cool rebuttal of most of the "facts" and conclusions Von Daniken came to. You read the books and make up your own mine. I tend to side with the terrestrial sources of genius. But, then, I do not see the faces on Stonehenge and Mars as real either!

do you think someone came (as in stonehenge) and carved the faces later?

Hmh. You know how people are... One of my favorite history tidbits is this graffiti somewhere in Hagia Sophia in Istanbul (then Constantinople), translated into English, it says:
"Halfdan was here."
Halfdan is a Viking name.
Might be Crooked Nose and Too Big Ears walked by Stonehenge, and thought they were funny...

Almost certainly the faces were carved later and the bronze axeheads on Stonehenge, as well as Halfdan's memento. No one would carve things into the existing fabric of a place of worship which is still in use. Can you imagine someone going into St Paul's Cathedral in London and chipping his name into a pillar? Not likely (but nowadays, who can say...!)

On the matter of extra-terrestrial visitors to Earth. Sure, it's possible; but that "Chariots of the Gods" bit is a little hokey for me. Still, there is the genuinely intriquing possibility of the religion and folk memory of the Dogon People. How did they know Cirius had a companion star milennia before it was scientifically proven?

tornadoes? (they look black because it's so light behind them)....that was similar to my cloud experience except for the turning sideways to view it. oh, and there weren't any tornadoes.

From Reuters:
....Wednesday that could solve the centuries-old mystery of circles in English
cornfields which have aroused speculation of visitors from outer space.
Experts filmed two big circles being made during the night amid a barrage of
unexplained flashing lights in a field in the southern county of Wiltshire.
It was the first known recording of the formation of symmetrical circles that
have puzzled Englishmen since the Middle Ages.
Theories of what causes them range from earthworms to whirlwinds to
spaceships.
In medieval times, countryfolk believed they were the work of the Devil.
Scientists from Britain, Japan, West Germany and the United States monitored
Wiltshire cornfields round the clock this week with thermal imagers and
low-light cameras.
On Wednesday, they recorded two circles being made, one about 100 metres (330
feet) across, the other half that size, said Colin Andrews, leader of the
project coordinated by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
Analyzing their recordings hours later, they sent in helicopters to take
daylight pictures of the find and said they had made a significant scientific
discovery.
''We do have a major event here, very much excitment as you can imagine,''
Andrews said. ''We do have two major ground markings in front of all the
surveillance equipment performing absolutely to form,'' he told BBC
television.
''We had a situation at approximately 3.30 this morning on monitor -- a
number
of orange lights taking the approximate form of a triangle and within that
triangular form was a second triangle,'' Andrews said.
''We had many lights, following that a whole complex arrangement of lights
doing all sorts of funny things. It's a complex situation, we are actually
analysing it at this very moment. But there is undoubtedly something here for
science.''
Andrews said the circles could not be a hoax.
''We have high-quality equipment here and we have indeed secured on
high-quality equipment a major event,'' he said.
Asked what caused the circles, Andrews said: ''As you can imagine, this only
happened some hours ago. We have experts arriving by the minute here now to
analyze this. We do have something of great, great significance.''
Describing the circles, he said: ''One formation is about 100 metres in
diameter, a circle with two satellites and two concentric rings, another
brother nearby about 50 per cent of the size of its nearby neighbour.''
Andrews said the field had been cordoned off. ''We're doing nothing more now
until we have helicopters over the top to film in detail what we have before
anybody enters that field.''
The authoritative New Scientist journal published an article last month which
said corn circles, more than 300 of which appeared last year, were caused by
weather conditions creating whirlwinds and electrical discharges in the
atmosphere.
Author Terence Meaden said his theory could explain flashing lights seen by
eyewitnesses and patterns of flattened corn.

Well, it came recommended to me from elsewhere. So, I posted it in Cool URLs in the Web conference so we can all be edified equally. No privacy here, Maggie - they find me out every time I post something I feel badly about and need to tell someone or something - like shouting in a wilderness. They find me out eventually...
