a wonderful book on the subject is Angels: An Endangered Species by Malcolm Godwin wonderful artwork of angels throughout the ages plus other information on what is known about them including the heirarchy in the first, second, third, and fourth wings. though i haven't read the work in its entirety, it is very well done.

So, what are your favorite angel movies, Madam Hostess?
~KitchenManager #3
and/or television shows, of course...
~wolf #4
i like touched by an angel even though i cry after every episode. my sunday's have been extremely too busy so i haven't seen it in awhile. then there was ghost, the movie. of course, love patrick swayze, so what can i say or need i say more?

Say no more, say no more.

I trust we can finally say more...with the host's permission. I loved the movie 'Michael' with *gasp* John Travolta, whom I normally do not deign to watch. It was a really cute movie and I enjoyed it...about The ArkAngel Michael...on earth in present day. Did anyone else see this?

'Michael' was GREAT! I loved it - I love John Travolta! Another good angel thing is a video I saw at a friends - a documentary about the role angels have played in history and in art in different cultures. That was really interesting.

Clarence in "It's a Wonderful Life" is my favorite movie angel. I also love "Touched By an Angel." Maybe it's Roma Downey, the redhaired Irish actress who plays Monica that I love. I've also always been a big fan of the multitalented Della Reese. I hope the real angel of death is as sweet and non-threatening as Andrew (played by John Dye).

BE AN ANGEL! This is a really terrific thing. The Hunger Site at the U.N. This is a really cool website. All you do is click a button and somewhere in the world some hungry person gets a meal to eat at no cost to you. The food is paid for by corporate sponsors. All you do is go to the site and click. But, you're only allowed one click per day so spread the word to others. Visit the site and pass the word. http://www.thehungersite.com

I just heard that "Michael" with John Travolta will have its network debut on October 3 - not sure which station. Tomorrow evening!!!

I watch practically no TV -- except for "Touched By An Angel" (which my darling but cynical youngest child, 16, calls "touched in the head"). I even watch it during every weeknight in reruns on the PAX channel. As for angel movies -- how about "City of Angels" with Nicholas Cage? I saw it twice and would see it again. I liked "Michael" too -- thanks for the tip that it's coming up tomorrow, Marcia. (Perhaps after TBAA?) John, I agree with you about Clarence... And what is the name of that Christmas movie that has the angel Gideon, sitting in the tree? He was the only thing about that film I liked. :)
~mrchips #12
I don't know what movie that may be, but I loved MAD magazine's parody, "Tetched by an Angel."
~MarciaH #13
It is a GREAT movie, and I don't particularly like John Travolta...he plays the angel Michael...very cute movie - think you'd enjoy it. Don't remember "tetched by an angel"...but it was doubtless great from the genius that is MAD

Nan! What a pleasure to see you here! I shall be on the watch for Michael and check the Sunday morning TV section for the network carrying it. Will post it here!
~mrchips #15
When I said I didn't know, I was referring to the Christmas movie Nan alluded to, with Gabriel sitting in a tree, not Michael, which I saw and was not particularly impressed by, although I do like Travolta.

Travolta's wife, actress Kelly Preston (Jerry Maguire, For Love of the Game), was born and raised in Honolulu, and graduated from Punahou High School, one of America's ten most prestigious private preparatory academies.

I looked through the entire week TV listings (which does not list movies separately, and we do not get Bravo out here) and did not see "Michael" listed. Has anyone else found it? Please let us know if you have and what network/channel is showing it. Mahalo!
~moonbeam #18
Marcia, thanks for the welcome! :) I looked through the Yahoo! listings for movies today and Michael's not there.

Unfortunately, where I saw the ad for "Michael" was a special channel our cable company opened just to show the UH football game to our island last night, and they ran all sort of ads for PPV and other premium channels offerings upcoming. I only saw "Michael" mentioned once - and the only thing I caught was "...its network premier" I thought by that it meant the commercial networks, but i checked through all of the cable station offerings. If I see more, I will post it.
