What are your favorite vegetarian restaurants?
~KitchenManager #1
readers say: Mother's Cafe and Garden
~terry #2
No arguments. Sadly, Martin Brothers has closed their doors (pass me a hanky please). Jeff Martin is the guy with the monks outfit with a hood and two birds perched on his should in the Springs currently running front page slide show.
~stacey #3
Oh, that is sad. Maybe you went around and told too many people they took you're favorite item off the menu! I liked that place off of 26th street, east of I-35 that had their own garden... the best chipotle-artichoke enchiladas!
~terry #4
What place was that?
~stacey #5
Martin Brothers
~KitchenManager #6
This year, Chronicle readers say: TIE: West Lynn, Mother's Cafe and Garden Runners-up: Mr. Natural, Veggie Heaven Honorable mention: Eatside Cafe, Manga, Central Market And the Critics Poll says: Veggie Heaven
~terry #7
West Lynn and Mothers are owned by the same folks. Mr. Natural isn't in their league or even close. And Martin Brothers shut down, otherwise they would have been a contender.
~stacey #8
is the Eastside Cafe still around?
~KitchenManager #9
Yessum!
~stacey #10
MMMMmmmm. Artichoke, chipotle enchiladas were my favorite! And they had great carrot cake!
~jgross #11
great hopscotch games outside, too, on the sidewalks between 2:00 and 4:00 in the afternoon different colored chalk, differently drawn squares, goofy doodlings and kids from all walks of life lotta times they'd laugh when they was talkin' that's why I went there
~KitchenManager #12
and, as long as I'm here... Chronicle readers picked the best vegetables at Threadgill's Runners-up: Eastside Cafe, Mother's Cafe and Garden Honorable mentions: Good Eats Cafe, Veggie Heaven, West Lynn Cafe, Luby's and the Critics Poll rated as the best vegetables... Eastside Cafe, with Laura's Bluebonnet Kitchen as the runner-up

~KitchenManager #14
Did we leave you speechless, Tami?
~riette #15
No, I think Terry did....
~TIM #16
I was wondering when Y'all were going to figure that out.
~riette #17
We always get there eventually...
~TIM #18
That's true. I just did not want to say anything, at first, because I live in the same house, and I thought it might be a breach of privacy.
~KitchenManager #19
and, actually, we have ways of finding things out...
~TIM #20
Well I'm glad it's out in the open.
~riette #21
What is? No, just kidding! The thing with Terry is that one practically has to drag everything out...
~TIM #22
Well I almost posted it, but thought better of it. I figured it would come out sooner or later. specially when she was using his logon from time to time, when she forgot to sign him off, and sign on, before using the same computer.
~riette #23
Not to mention the pure chemistry oozing from their every response...
~TIM #24
That too. Although I had missed that, you ought to see it from this angle. she has him wrapped around her finger, she decides to do something, and he just goes along with it.
~riette #25
And isn't that JUST the way it should be?
~TIM #26
Yes, and no. When there has been enough history in a relationship, for mutual trust to develop, yes. When one partner is following the other around like a puppy dog, No.
~riette #27
Yes, that is a good point. I wouldn't like that. Takes away the challenge.
~TIM #28
True, but you'd find challenge. Somewhere. Because you are not the type to be content with a complacent lifestyle.
~riette #29
Nonsense, I'm the most homeley woman you've ever met, I bet!
~terry #30
There she goes again. Simply not the case.
~riette #31
What??? I'm not going anywhere! I my sense of humour THAT pathetic??? How are you doing, Terry?
~terry #32
You have a great sense of humor, ree ree.
~riette #33
Thank you, Master. How have you been, Terry? I take it your silence is due to lots of love making?
~terry #34
Pretty perceptive Ree! I'm working excruciating long hours too, stacking up hours so I can take off a couple of days at Thanksgiving.
~riette #35
Where are you going?
~terry #36
To dads place in East Texas.
~riette #37
Well, I hope you have a really great time.
~sprin5 #38
We did had a good time as I remember, Ree. And a better time on our last visit. My sister Alice was there with her husband Don and dad talked about with exploits in the War (WW2). He's put golf on the shelf for a while while he heals up his leg. Back to vegetarian. Martin Brothers closed. But Mothers still trucks on. I need to revisit the East Side Cafe, it's moved way up in the Chronicle Restaurant poll and features it's own home grown produce.
