There are about 150 people actually living on Foundation property as members of the Foundation - the fewest number since Findhorn's start in the early '60's. Far more people live locally in what is called the "open community," with varying degrees of connection. As to social structure, it's quite fascinating - the trustees of the Foundation, who live off-site, formally suspended the decision making structures and procedures of the Foundation (which were pure consensus) in, I think, April, after a Dutch management consultant team came in and said, essentially, that current management was well meaning but incompetent. Current management reached the same conclusion and resigned. A temporary management team is currently in place, pretty much appointed by the trustees, which raised a great uproar. A special body has just issued an advisory report on proposed decision making procedures to be read, discussed and voted on by the entire community, and a grand meeting takes place soon (maybe even has happened by now.) It's an extremely interesting time... Where they seem to be going, based on the report, is towards some areas of decision making where an 80% majority will do when consensus cannot be reached. They are also working on implementing some decision making procedures that come out of African community - I wasn't familiar with the name and don't know much about it. - reprinted by permission from Candace Hale spirit conference | Main Menu
