Introduce youself please. Who are you? Where are you from now? What are your interests and passons? Where are you originally from? How do you find this place?
~DaniK #1
Well, as you can see from my pseudonym I'm from Alaska and my name is Dani. I'm a Human Services student (attending college fulltime), a mother of two teenagers (now THAT is an experience!), an avid MUD player, voracious (I think) reader, and a very extroverted, friendly human being. I found this place when Terry emailed me the address...thanks, Terry! :)
~mqube #2
Hi Terry & Dani! Didn't I just see y'all over on E-Minds? Yea, Terry e-mailed me too, this looks like a cool place so far, will have to check out some of the other conferences. I'm down here in Houston, sitting in front of the computer with the cat on my lap, waiting for traffic to die down so I can go in to work. See ya!

Welcome da both of youse. I just came here to the porch to create a new item and found y'all had jumped in. Keep on movin' on, clues or not. You'll catch on. There's lots of helpful folks here and we even give you some online help (click on help and read though some of it). Anyway, gonna go crate that topic.
~Tessie #6
Hi! Well I don't know what I am doing here I think I must be addicted.. was just browsing around and found you all here, so I had to stop and meet you all, I am a "graphic artist" and like Dani I have 2 children... IRC huh? : ) night all
~terry #7
Nighty night. And welcome. Visit us often!
~psycho #8
Hi, folks: I'm an undergraduate student majoring in psychology. Someone mentioned this place over at Electric Minds. This is only my second visit to this neck of the wood. I'm pretty new to Internet and its way of life. So far, I think I'm getting the hang of things.
~terry #9
Welcome Ricky Lee!
~mudhen #10
Hi Terry, Like many people I'm interested in things like why my computer does things like it has a mind of its own, rather than what I want it to do. When I first got into this thing, I was led to believe that the computer only does what you tell it to do, but it seems like the reverse is true at times, anyway its alot of fun and I'm addicted. I enjoy your site and look foreward to asking you alot of questions. One major question I have is, what should a person expect to see happen when he downloads either Navigator 3.0 or MS Explorer? I downloaded NAV 3.0 and it just sits in cache doing nothing. Heeeelp!
~terry #11
Can you explain it a little more detail. Does it come up and run? What do you mean about the cache? More details!
~Nino #12
New here as well. Born in CT, now in CA, via FL. Work for USPS, but am not disgruntled :) Looking to get a comedy page started soon with friends from Australia.
~terry #13
Great Nino, create a comedy topic here and link your page to it if you like. Can you tell us more about what's going to be on your page?
~trainmaster #14
Since this seems to be a place to ask some questions I have one. When I am on the chat lines using mIRC there are alot of pictures that come up. What do I do so that I can see them. I am using mIRC 4.6. Do I need something else to see the pictures? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
~terry #15
You want to ask this in the mIRC topic in the 'apps' conference. A lot of the folks who develope these kinds of programs frequent that conference.
~maddog #16
Ok, more of the same. I found the spring through eMinds/terry's e-mail invitation. I live in rural New Hampshire and have also been phone-free for many years until now, so new to net, but forever on computers. I am a musician. My wife works the day job and I stay home - fix up the house/homeschool the kids/care for the baby/etc. I play in a couple of (rock) bands weekends to pay my ISP. I guess I will be looking around here for music/comedy/homeschool talk. Just started a homeschool topic at eMinds (commo s) in fact, anyone interested in that here? It is about my only serious topic. Other than that, I can be a bit sarcastic at times, so if you are wondering whether I am joking, I most always am, so try not and get mad - just slam me right back.

O......K....... when was the last time you people wrote here. I mean, one of you is complaining about netscape navigator 3.0 and I have friends that are downloading netscape navigator 5 late and having probs with it. I also see that the most recent date is in the year 1996 over 2 years ago. what's the deal
~stacey #21
~aschuth #22
Terry, I, too, see that the most recent date is over 2 years ago, what IS the deal? Anyway, me gotta kweftion, too. Has anybody ever heard about a group of people called "STP family" (late 60ies, Oregon?)? I'm looking for information on this group.
~aschuth #23
I would like regulars of this conference invite to visit the International Conflicts conference here on the Spring: http://www.spring.net/yapp-bin/restricted/browse/InternationalConflicts/all This conference is dedicated to the disputes between groups all over the world, be that social, cultural, political or ethnical differences.
~aschuth #24

~aschuth #37
Welcome again, Samantha! As Terry said (he the chap runnin' this place, incidently), the porch is also a good place to get started. And as per my instruction back in the Bronte Conf, you ought to be able to add any conference you like to your main menu. Enjoy!

~MarciaH #39
~springnet #40
Welcome Isabel and Samantha. I'm springnet, sometimes know as terry around here, and this just may be the first post on the new server. Or maybe not! This is a test, and only a test, if it were the real thing you would have been instructed to go down to the basement.
~MarciaH #41
Looking good, TerrySpringNet-person! Whatcha got in your basement???
~terry #42

~MarciaH #43

~ommin #45
Hi Terry, I am from Western Australia. I live in Perth - the most isolated city in the world, the nearest capital city to us is Djkarta, and Singapore. Canberra our Capital is further away. We have surf, clean beaches, but lonliness sometimes. I have come to enjoy Spring and have made friends, ie. in particular Marcia, who is very special. Anne H
~MarciaH #46

Hi all Rob Glennie here from the New Zealand city of Christchurch on the South Island's east coast. Christchurch has a population of 325,000 people and is a manufacturing, commercial, transport, cultural and political hub in the province of Canterbury. It was founded in 1850 when the "First Four Ships" Charlotte Jane, Seymour, Randolph and something else arrived in Lyttelton on December 16, 1850 to found the province of Canterbury. Our founding father is Sir Robert Godley and he is recognised by the naming of a number of physical features after him. An example is Godley Head, the entrance to Lyttelton Harbour and Godley river in the McKenzie Basin. Rob
~terry #56
What is the high tech capital of New Zealand?
~mikeg #57
Anywhere they shear sheep :-) Hi Rob, welcome to el Springo.
~MarciaH #58
Mike! *HUGS* welcome back. WE HAVE MISSED YOU!!! Rob's our token Kiwi at Geo - but I guess you figured that out from the login name. How's your Maori?!
~AotearoaKiwi #59
Hi all Christchurch possibly. We have a growing reputation for electronics and we have the Air New Zealand maintenance facility here, but other places are possible the technology capital. New Zealand is only moving slowly in the investment of technology preferring the politics dictate the course we take. Rob
~gooberboy #60
Hi I'm Gooberboy. What's cool here on Spring?
~mikeg #61
Hi peeps, just sticking my head through the curtain again.
~terry #62
Hey guy, good to see you around here.
~mikeg #63
Sent you a couple of mails about my username/password but then I figured it out. Both are non-standard to that which I normally use! Pictures of me in my new place: http://www.griggs.org.uk pictures of me with girly friend http://www.mg015c1376.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/londoneye (catchy, huh?!)
~terry #64
Looks like a fine lass, lad. Nice set of wheels too! Nice shot of you at sunset on that tower, what's that called?
~terry #65
My favorite shot:
~mikeg #66
Yeah, that was a nice one. Sadly that lady is no more! We had six months together and then the following weekend she dumped me! Oh well, such is life. More pictures up at http://www.griggs.org.uk...
~terry #67
Oh no! She's now the one that got away. Well, there are more fish in the sea. Come to Austin sometime, you'd be amazed at what's out there.
~wolf #68
mike, i couldn't get your website to come up...sorry about your latest lady friend *HUGS*
~MarciaH #69
I used to be a happy lady in charge of a lively Geo conference. Now I mostly seem alone in there as in my life. Mike, move over. Share that crying towel!
~terry #70
It's cyclical, it will come back. I'm hoping to boost geo witht he rise of http://stonedom.com and ohter mineral geological sites that we're launching.
~mikeg #71
hmmmmm....there's a beautiful cyclicity (is that a word? it can't be) about this weekend. The last time I posted in this topic I'd just been dumped :-) I got back together with that girl again, then we split up again a few weeks back (my choice this time). I'm meeting up with her today to say hi and stuff. I think that spring.net is wired in to my brain at times like these :-)))
~terry #72
That's great you're back, are you going to add some things to your 'babes' conference. I heard Rene Zellwegger just signed on for $20 mil to do the Bridget Jones sequel. Good luck on your meeting today. Mike, what are your favorite Brit music groups?
~dot #73
How's it going nowadays, Mike?
~mikeg #74
not bad....you?
~terry #75
OK. Having rentor problems, but those will clear up soon.
~charmedbycolin #76
Hi. Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Carolyn. I live in Southern California. But have lived in the UK and Australia. A quick question, how come I can post here, and not at drool? Do I have to introduce myself here first? Thanks in advance.
~terry #77
An intro would be nice, I'm in Cedar Creek, Texas and I started this outfit the Spring. I'd be glad to assist you in finding a niche anywhere you feel comfortable with!
~MarciaH #78
Oh wow is it ever cyclical. I was at my worst a few post and years back but now... Amazing ! The world is a lovely place.
~terry #79
It's ok to reintroduce yourself, or reinvent yourself!
~southernalps #80
Kia Ora My name is Rob Glennie. I am not new, and more than 5 weeks have passed since I reinvented myself. I am a geofreak by all accounts, and live in New Zealand. Rob
~terry #81
Kia Ora.
~zx6rider #82
Hi folks... it's been a dog's age since I dropped into the Spring. I left New England in early '06 landing in Norther California. Changed careers, re-learned the rules of living in poverty (love this economy -NOT) and fell back into photography. I have a little announcement, and couldn't find the Shameless Self Promotion topic so I'll drop it here on the Porch. I just self-pub'd "Distractions", a collection of my art photography and digital paintings. I'm pretty excited about it and hope y'all will give it a look. You can preview the book (and buy if you like it) at: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/606292 I've also set up an online storefront where one can purchase prints of my work. You can check out my (still growing) galleries at: http://www.printroom.com/pro/gratcliff I'll try to stop in more oftem... changed computers along the way and have now re-bookmarked the Spring. It took me a while to remember my login for this place (ah aging memory). Take care everybody! Gena aka zx6rider aka spazzdog
